The bad news is that no, we don’t get a new episode until March 15. The good news is that the show is returning with a flashback episode, and it looks like a fun one! Travel back to 1912 (EP316) with this promo from the CW.

Joseph Morgan as KlausAs we mentioned yesterday, Joseph Morgan (in addition to David Anders and Lauren Cohan) will be at MegaCon in Orlando this weekend. In preparation for his appearance, he talked to the Orlando Sentinel about his experiences working on the show and the character of Klaus. On Klaus’s development over time:

“It’s a natural progression,” Morgan says. “He started off as two-dimensional, but thanks to good writing, there have been some strong elements of humanity. He needs to evolve. Otherwise, people will just hate him. Unless he develops more human attributes, people will find him hard to relate to.”

And on his decision to take the role:

“It’s been the best decision I could have made,” Morgan says. “It really has put me in the public eye and given me an amazing fan base that’s been so supportive. I’ve never been a part of American TV. Seventeen episodes [so far] and many to come, I hope.”

We certainly hope so too!

Bonnie has undergone a lot of big changes this season, and TV Guide sat down with Kat Graham to get her take on Bonnie’s feelings and motivations in upcoming episodes. (Warning: Spoilers through Dangerous Liaisons (EP314)!) Here’s one of the less spoilery but still intriguing hints she dropped:

“Bonnie’s not a vengeful person, there’s always a purpose behind [her actions],” Graham says. “Whether she’s wrong or right by audience standards she firmly stands by it. If she goes against Elena, or even Elena going against Bonnie, it would be because they both have this conviction that what they’re doing is right. That’s important to remember watching the upcoming episodes.”

And in this video, Kat discusses her feelings about Bonnie and romance:

Nina Dobrev as ElenaIn the wake of last night’s Dangerous Liaisons (EP314), several media outlets have follow-ups from a Q&A with Julie Plec. You should assume that these are all very spoilery for the episode, so don’t click through if you haven’t seen it yet! To whet your appetite, here are a few of the less spoilery tidbits.

Over at TV Guide, Julie answers a few big questions, like whether everyone actually took part in a certain toast and when Tyler might return. And on Damon’s actions at the end of the episode:

“The thing with Damon we’ve seen is that when he’s hurt, he lashes out. In a way, this is both the most cruel way he could’ve lashed out, but also shows a peculiar evolution in him as a character because rather than take it out on an innocent human in the middle of the road, he’s striking where it hurts the most.”

At E!Online, Julie hints at another requirement for a certain spell:

“Next episode, it takes place on a full moon. We’ll learn that, like most of the big, heavy-duty witch spells, there needs to be some sort of recurring celestial event or some recurring event attached to it.”

E!Online also has a few teasers in their Daily Spoiler Chat.

And at Entertainment Weekly, Julie talks the fun of exploring Klaus’s romantic side:

“For us, it’s fun to explore that side of Klaus — seeing a romantic vulnerability there, because it is giving us a window into him a little bit. We certainly find Klaus to be irresistible on a lot of levels, so it’s going to be interesting to see how that moves forward.”
