Now that the nomination process if officially underway, let’s revisit the People’s Choice Awards. This is a multistep process: What you can do right now is vote on which five contestants should be nominated in each category. (The final voting phase starts next month.) The People’s Choice folks pick twelve people or shows for each category as suggested nominees, but there’s a write-in section and you can nominate whomever you’d like!
Currently, The Vampire Diaries is on the nomination ballot in these categories:
Favorite Network TV Drama
Favorite TV Drama Actor (Ian Somerhalder)
Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Show
But remember, you can write in whomever you want, and nominate up to five people or shows in each category! For example, you can write in Paul Wesley, Nina Dobrev, or any of the other regular cast members in the Drama Actor and Actress categories, and make sure you nominate one of the amazing Vampire Diaries guest stars in the Favorite TV Guest Star category!
The five nominees for each category will be announced and voting will open on November 8th, and the winners will be announced at the awards show in January. You can vote for your favorite nominees as many times as you like, so make sure you’re hitting the site every day so The Vampire Diaries makes a good showing!

Now that we’ve (somewhat) recovered from the crazy train of awesome that was The Reckoning (EP305), there is more Vampire Diaries speculation to be had about the mythology not-so-slowly unfolding on our screens. We didn’t get a lot of straight-up answers last night, but there was plenty of opportunity to read between the lines of what we were told. We’re going to concentrate on three things in this post (we had more points, but the post started getting ridiculously long, so expect another post soon-ish!): Elena and the curse, our mysterious new character, and the Original Witch. (We’re thinking hybrids are gonna need a whooooole other post.)
Here’s what we learned and what we’re speculating about after last night’s episode of The Vampire Diaries. Go crazy with your own theories in the comments!
WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THE RECKONING (EP305). ALSO: HIGH PROBABILITY OF BRAIN MELTING.

Get ready for some shenanigans – it’s senior prank night at Mystic Falls High! (Yes, apparently these kids still go to school often enough to even find out about these things.) But the seniors aren’t the only ones plotting things – we assume Klaus has something up his sleeve, because doesn’t he always? The title of The Reckoning makes us suspect that there will be consequences – and they’ll probably be harsher than detention for a prank gone too far.
And GetGlue users, make sure you keep checking into The Vampire Diaries and The Secret Circle to work toward your season fan and superfan stickers! Some episodes also have special stickers you can only get if you check in the night the episode first airs.

Here’s some exciting news, especially for those of us who are still trying to get all our friends hooked on The Vampire Diaries: Netflix has entered into a four-year licensing deal with the CW. The wording is a little unclear, but we think this means that seasons one and two of The Vampire Diaries will be available for instant streaming in the U.S. starting THIS SATURDAY, October 15. Season three will be available on Netflix streaming in Fall 2012. This deal will give the show an awesome new level of exposure and availability for Netflix members who have streaming-only plans, and make it much easier for new fans to catch up and watch live next season. And if you’re trying to catch up on other CW shows, they’ll be available soon as well.
So clear your calendars and call all your skeptical friends – S1 & S2 marathon parties can start this weekend, and if you skip a couple days of work, everyone you know can be caught up before next Thursday.

Zap2it reports that episode eight will be called Ordinary People – and that it will herald the return of a certain Original. Yes, Daniel Gillies is back as Elijah! Don’t get too excited about that dagger coming out just yet, though: It sounds like for this episode, at least, Elijah will appear in a flashback.

Lots of action in Mystic Falls and Chicago tonight with Disturbing Behavior. Will Tyler help Caroline with her, uh, family issues? How will Jeremy’s dead girlfriends react now that his real live girlfriend is back in town? Does Stefan have stronger opinions about fashion than we’d ever guessed? Find out tonight!
Don’t forget that The Secret Circle will air right after TVD. We know it’s a hardship, but try to show some love for Kevin Williamson by spending some time with Thomas Dekker and Gale Harold. It’s a tough job, but do it for Kevin!
