We know Vaughn (guest star Charlie Bewley) will play a big role in this week’s new episode, Down the Rabbit Hole (EP414). In this week’s Vampire Diaries Bite, TV Guide talks to Ian Somerhalder about whether Vaughn will pose a threat to Damon in particular. And . . . looks like yes:
“Damon would be an extremely difficult man to get tied up to a tree, unless you’re Elena or some hot sorority girl who is compelled to do so. So the fact that he’s there means Vaughn knows what he’s doing.”

It’s the news we know many of you have been waiting for: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Claire Holt will indeed be playing Rebekah in a co-starring role on the potential Vampire Diaries spinoff The Originals. She’ll join Joseph Morgan and Daniel Gillies in playing members of the Original family making the transition. The backdoor pilot will air April 25th.

Guest star Charlie Bewley will appear as Vaughn in tomorrow’s new episode, Down the Rabbit Hole (EP414), so Alloy Entertainment interviewed him about his experience on the show and his other projects.
Alloy Entertainment: What was it like filming scenes with Ian Somerhalder, Joseph Morgan, and the cast? Were there any entertaining behind-the-scenes moments on set?
Charlie Bewley: Ian is the glue that binds us all. He runs the show. It’s quite the spectacle. I love the guy — he has lots of great energy and is a real people person. TV is a new medium for me… these guys have been going at it for years. I feel privileged to have come in and injected my own brand of energy to Mystic Falls.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, actress Leah Pipes has been cast in the lead human role of Camille in the backdoor pilot of potential Vampire Diaries spinoff The Originals. You may have seen her on Life Is Wild or The Deep End. Her character is “a college psychology student fascinated by the study of human behavior unaware of the supernatural universe that exists around her.”

Breaking news from the CW: The Vampire Diaries has been renewed for season five, to return in fall 2013. From the press release:
Heading into its fifth season next fall, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES remains The CW’s highest rated series in target demographics, including adults 18-34 and women 18-34. THE VAMPIRE DIARIES also continues to be one of the network’s top performing shows digitally and socially; in fact, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES recently topped Trendrr’s list as network TV’s #1 social program for the week of January 21–27.
Arrow and Supernatural have been renewed as well.
