Sabrina Rojas-Weiss has a new installment of her Book Report: The Vampire Diaries up on MTV’s Hollywood Crush blog. While I think Red will take great exception to what she has to say about Matt (that flag flies high around these parts!), she does list off five reasons why the series will appeal to “Twilighters and Twi-Haters.” She touches on why Elena Gilbert kicks ass and why her friends are awesome, the appeal of Stefan and Damon, and why Fell’s Church is a very interesting place to live.
We also appreciate that she’s unafraid to touch on the series’ faults, too. Read the entire post over on the Hollywood Crush blog.

I can deal with the whole loyal, ‘golden retriever’ dog analogies in regards to Matt… but ‘heartbroken puppy’ really is taking it a bit far. It makes him sound like a moping, clinging ex, when he really, really isn’t. He’s so much more than that. Sigh. *puts some extra effort into waving his Matt flag*
But yeah, other than the Matt thing (and being a bit off date-wise with Elena’s parents dying), it’s a good article about the books. :D Red(Quote)

Elena’s parents didn’t just die. It happened three years prior to the storyline. Jezebel(Quote)

Ugh, I wish they’d stop comparing TVD to Twilight EVERY time. Sure, you need to sometimes, but not all the time.
It mentioned that it was hard to understand what was going on, but that never happened to me. Except in the fifth book, which thoroughly confused me most of the way through. Nilly(Quote)

This is me rolling my eyes. Elena does NOT kick ass. I cannot state that emphatically enough. Lorraine(Quote)

Hey, everyone. I’m thrilled that you’re reading the blog. I know what I wrote was a pretty huge generalization — cramming my opinion of five books into one blog post. And yeah, the Twilight thing’s getting tedious, as I said, but that’s my attempt to turn MTV’s hoards of Twilighters on to new things. I hope you join the conversation over at HC about all this, and let me know what other angles you want covered. My review of the TV pilot’s going up on Friday. Love this site, btw! Sabrina(Quote)

ROLLS MY EYES ! Would these guys leave Twilight out of it ! I LOVE TWILIGHT AND it brought me to these books but I THINK SINCE TWILIGHT IS SO HUGE it’s going to be attached to anything vampire. Sia(Quote)

Thanks for commenting! :)
It’s very difficult to get condense these things down into one blog post, and we think you did a really good job. I’d noticed that MTV was doing a hell of a lot of backing for the Twilight movie last year, so if you did manage to get the word out about TVD to even some of those fans, that would be awesome. Really, the best of luck with that. :)
Looking forward to the pilot review! Red(Quote)

I have read the original book YEARS ago shortly before they were discontinued, i am a big fan and they have been my favorite books since the first time i read them. “Way before anyone had heard of twilight”. Any way i was very glad she put the books out again, and i was really excited for the upcoming TV series. The thing i am disappointed about is Elena. She is suppose to be blonde hair blue eyes, and in the series she is not, And i hope they got the eye colors of Stefan and Damon right, since the actors themselves don’t have the right colors. I just hope they are wearing contacts. I know these features seem unimportant but anyone who has read the book, and the writer” would know they are a big part in it, “Elena’s hair and eye color more than anything.” Thank you! Meggie(Quote)
