Due to the influx of Vampire Diaries fans just hearing about the upcoming TV series – not to mention the resurgence of comments and email we’ve been receiving on the subject – we just wanted to make clear, again, that TVDtv producers Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson have said Meredith WILL be in the show. (*tiny voice* There’s even a little note about it, right there, at the top of the middle column. And it’s on The Cast page.)
We don’t know how, or when, or – most importantly – who (that casting will be huge news in fandom at this point), but we’ve been promised that Meredith will live. Good news, yeah? You can read the original post from April 20th here: “Be patient, Meredith fans.” (The comment from Williamson is here.)
But for the record? No matter how many times we have to answer the “Where’s Meredith?” question, we think it’s pretty damn rad that so many people have been concerned for her existence on the small screen. Because who else will be the rock and the wit, all while remaining immune to Damon’s considerable charms?

Oh thank god. My favorite character. I hope they do her justice. Collie(Quote)

hey, what does the numbers mean on the cast page after the SERIES REGULAR warning? Do you know?
Elena´s SERIES REGULAR (4)
Stefan´s SERIES REGULAR (15)
Damon´s SERIES REGULAR (50)
and so on… Sucker for Vampires(Quote)

Honestly? I’m not sure. (Though I’m positive someone told me what it meant when they first leaked. FAIL.) Doesn’t seem to fit in line with the usual lines, scenes, etc. designations. Might be a SAG thing? Vee(Quote)

I’m glad that Meredith will be in the show. But did they ever explain the whole Jeremy/Margaret thing? Heather(Quote)

It’s probably something as simple as demographic appeal/marketing. Also, casting a little girl on a TV show like this, especially where the character might be in danger, is unappealing to some people. And giving her a brother who is older means he can be involved more in the plot, as opposed to Margaret who was so much on the outskirts of the plot. Plus, one more guy on the show appeals to the teen girl demographic. Haha. Collie(Quote)

YEAH its kinda REEEEEEEEETARDED to not have her in the series, shes one of the biggest characters, even more so than some listed on the official cast… I hope she doesnt only pop in on a few shows, she needs to be a REGULAR NUFF SAID, CW and The Powers That Be will flop this show if not… my 2 cents..
