To celebrate the release of Love You To Death – Season 3: The Unofficial Companion to The Vampire Diaries by Vampire-Diaries.net contributor Crissy Calhoun, we’re having a contest to name Elena’s teddy bear! Crissy has confirmed with executive producer Julie Plec that the bear is currently nameless, and we’re calling on all you TVD fans out there to help give little teddy a name. (Please note that this is a contest purely for fun, not a promise that the actual teddy bear will end up with the winning name.)
THIS CONTEST IS OPEN TO EVERYONE – yes, that means you too, international fans!
FOUR WINNERS (CHOSEN AT RANDOM) WILL RECEIVE: A signed copy of Love You To Death 3!
But what about the GRAND PRIZE, you ask? Crissy will choose her favorite name for Elena’s teddy bear from all of the entries and that GRAND PRIZE WINNER will not only receive a signed copy of Love You To Death 3, but also a Vampire Diaries prize pack that includes some snazzy official TVD merchandise (t-shirts, jewelry, etc). (Ever seen a wild Vee go crazy over a convention merch table? Yeeeeeah.)

You may know author Sarah Rees Brennan from her essay in A Visitor’s Guide to Mystic Falls (“Women Who Love Vampires Who Eat Women – Gender Dynamics and Interspecies Dating in Mystic Falls”), her hilarious livetweets of The Vampire Diaries, or her Demon’s Lexicon trilogy of YA urban fantasy novels. Now she’s here to chat with us about her TVD fandom and her new vampire novel, Team Human (cowritten with Justine Larbalestier). Read on to hear about her adventures as a young L.J. Smith fan in Ireland, her hopes for Season 4, and why she wants you to give Team Human a chance.

We know you’re an L.J. Smith fan from way back. What attracted you to her books as a kid/teenager? Were they popular in Ireland, or did you have to find ways to import them yourself?
List to my tale. I was about thirteen when I found a second-hand copy of the fourth Vampire Diaries book [Dark Reunion], in Dublin. I read it and felt MYSTERIOUSLY COMPELLED by it, for reasons I didn’t fully understand at the time (Damon) even though obviously I wasn’t following everything that was going on (but I would have followed Damon anywhere he asked me to go. Book Damon had a Ferrari with ILLEGALLY TINTED WINDOWS. Such a bad boy! No vehicle was lawful around him).
But I was thirteen. Amazon hadn’t caught on. If a book wasn’t in bookshops, I didn’t know what to do.
The long years wore on!

It’s an exciting day for Vampire Diaries book fans! The title, cover and US and UK publication dates have been revealed for the final book in The Hunters trilogy. Destiny Rising is due for release in the US on October 23rd 2012 and in the UK on November 1st 2012. Click on the image to the left for a bigger view of the cover – and if that’s not Bonnie McCullough, we’ll eat Ian Somerhalder’s hat.
