L.J. SmithL.J. Smith has relocated her blog to blogspot. She’s still in the process of moving older blog posts over from Amazon, so expect things to be a little strange as they’re sorted out. Please be sure to update your links and bookmarks to point to the new blog. There is a new LiveJournal Syndication Feed for those of you who want to follow her blog on your friends pages.

Also, we’d like to remind you all that if you can still read the first two books in the Vampire Diaries series for free at the Harper website. You need to grab the chance now, though, as the books are only available online until the 14th of April.

The Vampire DiariesLooks like an official Vampire Diaries website has launched, with information on the books and characters, impending info on the TV series, a promise of future giveaways, and a blog. Also check out the book trailer: “Before Bella…” And you can also fan the series on Facebook.

WARNING TO THOSE WHO HAVE NOT READ THE BOOKS: There are MAJOR PLOT SPOILERS on The Books page of the site, right at the top. If you don’t want to know, avoid that page at all costs. (A note to HarperTeen/Alloy: big spoilers for the books in the series synopsis? Really, guys?)

EDIT: We are pleased to discover that the people behind the website have been paying attention to fan comments, and have edited the site to remove the major spoilers. Thanks, Harper/Alloy!

You can also get a clear glimpse of the Damon who will appear on a future edition of The Return trilogy. (“Princess of Darkness” is the new “Queen of Shadows”!)

While this is Simon and Schuster, so it’s not Vampire Diaries-related, and focused on the Night World series, it’s likely to be of interest to many of you because you get to hear L.J. Smith speak.

Listen to the L.J. Smith interview on the Simon & Schuster website…

If you use Firefox and NoScript, you’ll need JavaScript enabled for the whole page, as they seem to host their media on another domain. Just allowing S&S doesn’t work.

Thanks to Creative over on DP for finding this.

You can also read the interview on Vampire Paradise without signing up, but you may want to join V&S anyway for the other vampire-related content on the site.

L.J. SmithMs. Smith talks about how Stefan almost ended up in Falls Church, how Nightfall came to be, Damon’s habit of lying to himself, and her feelings on how fans define her characters for themselves.

Oh, people have some crazy ideas. Some people really think they are the characters. But most of my readers seem like well-balanced, tolerant people. My official opinion is that once I make up a character and then put him or her into a book, and that book is published, the character is the property of everyone, to do with as they please. But inside, I laugh a little sometimes.

She also confirms flower symbolism for the Night World and details her research for The Secret Circle.

L.J. SmithL.J. Smith has written two short Vampire Diaries stories that are now available on the stories page of her website. The first is “Matt & Elena: First Date” (set around a year before The Awakening), and the second is “Bonnie & Damon: After Hours” (set during the first trilogy).

Update: The short stories have been removed from L.J. Smith’s website due to an interest from the publishers in producing an anthology of short Vampire Diaries stories.
