Tonight finally sees the return of the original Original! That’s right, things are now so bad in Mystic Falls that Elijah’s back to stylishly slap some sense back into everyone! Elena and Rebekah can look forward to that reunion, while Damon and Stefan are hot on their tail, looking forward to sampling Pennsylvania’s finest creamed corn. Meanwhile, Klaus is setting to prove that you don’t need a suit (or a shirt!) in order to compete for the top spot of sexiest male Original.
Once you’ve seen the episode and shaken yourself back to reality, swing by here to rate the new episode of The Vampire Diaries. All discussion about the episode is welcomed and encouraged in the comments of this post.

This week’s print issue of Entertainment Weekly contains a feature on the backdoor pilot of The Originals, set to air as an episode of The Vampire Diaries on April 25th, and their web site has a taste of the article as well as one of seven exclusive photos (excerpted to the left).
“With luck, over a long stretch of time and many, many seasons,” [Julie] Plec says, “The Originals will ultimately be the redemption tale of Klaus and, possibly, the unraveling of Elijah, who is going to have to maybe get his hands dirty in an effort to keep his brother in check.”

The CW has released the official synopsis for The Vampire Diaries: Pictures of You (EP419), airing Thursday, April 18th. Highlight for spoilers:
PROM NIGHT IN MYSTIC FALLS — After making a decision that infuriates Klaus (Joseph Morgan), Elijah (Daniel Gillies) proposes a life-changing challenge for Rebekah (Claire Holt). Caroline (Caroline Accola [sic]) finds that her carefully laid plans for the perfect Senior Prom night are disrupted by Elena (Nina Dobrev), so she turns to an amused Klaus for a solution. Determined to get through to Elena, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) both attend the prom, but the evening begins to spiral out of control despite their efforts. When Elena suddenly lashes out in a way no one could have predicted, Matt (Zach Roerig) turns to Rebekah for help. Finally, Bonnie (Kat Graham) makes a terrifying discovery, and Klaus receives a message that could change everything.
The episode was directed by J. Miller Tobin and written by Neil Reynolds & Caroline Dries.

Previously on The Vampire Diaries, Damon, Elena and Rebekah were in a New York state of mind. Next week’s episode (American Gothic, EP418) is already generating a buzz, and it marks the return of a TVD fan favorite: Elijah, played by Daniel Gillies.
Entertainment Weekly recently caught up with Daniel to ask him about his character’s upcoming appearance and got this tantalizing response:
“All I can say is tune in,” Gillies says, “because Elijah’s gonna shock and possibly even horrify a few. In fact, I’ll say he’s gonna horrify many. But frankly, I don’t care. I think what he’s doing is wonderful.”
