So it turns out new guest star Janina Gavankar had a lot to do (and say) on last night’s cucko-bananas episode of The Vampire Diaries. Since pretty much everything from last night is a spoiler, make sure you’ve watched Original Sin (EP503) before reading this TV Guide interview.
How did you ultimately prepare for the role?
Gavankar: I came thinking I knew some sh– because this is my third vampire show. Meanwhile, this show is so different from True Blood. This is a show about doppelgangers. I love swimming in backstory soup, so the first thing I did was sit down with the writer of the episode, Rebecca Sonnenshine, and I waded through all of it with her and figured out the whole thing. I had more hair tests and makeup tests than any other show.

THIS POST IS A STICKY. KEEP SCROLLING FOR NEW POSTS.
Doppelgangers sharing dreams, flashbacks to the past, and disturbing messages for the future… it’s all gone a bit psychic-sounding in Mystic Falls as the search for Stefan is on. Meanwhile, Silas is still after Katherine, and Matt’s probably having a very vivid vision that life would be a whole lot simpler if he’d just stayed overseas.

The CW has released the synopsis for The Vampire Diaries: Handle with Care (EP506). The episode airs Thursday, November 7 at 8/7c. Highlight for spoilers:
INDESTRUCTIBLE - INDESTRUCTIBLE — Silas (Paul Wesley) happily announces his new goal to Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev), but they are skeptical when he promises to accomplish one important task in return for their help. Tessa (guest star Janina Gavankar) confidently tells Stefan (Paul Wesley) about her next move, then realizes that Silas has managed to outsmart her. A desperate Katherine (Nina Dobrev) discovers a new and unexpected consequence of becoming human again, and realizes she needs a new place to stay. In exchange for a spot in the dorm room, she offers to show Caroline (Candice Accola) how to get answers from Dr. Maxfield (guest star Rick Cosnett). Bonnie (Kat Graham) is touched by Jeremy’s (Steven R. McQueen) strength and determination to stand by her. Finally, Damon is stunned when he figures out the secret to Tessa’s plan.
The episode was directed by Jeffrey Hunt and written by Caroline Dries & Holly Brix.

We’re all wondering: How long can Bonnie’s death stay secret? TV Guide spoke with Kat Graham about this and other matters, including Bonnie’s evolving relationship with Jeremy:
“They continue to evolve and grow, and it’s exciting because Bonnie has never had that before. So, it’s new territory for her. She’s always been about her magic and her girlfriends and saving the town. So, for her to have these moments with Jeremy are really special.” And what about a ghostly kiss? “I can’t say, but it seems like a natural progression,” she says. “Although who knows how they’ll do it now that I’m dead.”
Yeah, being dead sort of puts a few obstacles in the way of romance. Kat also talks about Bonnie’s connection with new character Tessa.
