No, nothing to do with any one group. Too many people who refused to follow rules of basic decency, and we simply don’t have the resources to police every single post and it got to be too much. We’re very sorry to have to take that discussion away from those who do follow the rules, but we’re not willing to provide a space in which people spew hatred, racism, homophobia, etc.

Yes, we try really hard to keep this a nice environment; thank you for noticing! It was a tough decision but we decided to concentrate on keeping the comments as good a place as possible and had to let the forums go to concentrate our energy. Thanks for understanding!

Dear Kate,
your website is the best TVD website in the world wide web. Not only is it highly professional and informative, it is entertaining and adds a lot relaxation to my (and obviously hundreds of other´s) stressy daily job and family routine. 
You don´t have to apologize for closing the forum – as good as it was for many users – we all can be happy to have what you offer, even in this reduced form, and we all should try and keep it just the way it is: like meeting friends and family over a hot mug of sweet tea and chatting about people (characters) we love. 
 So I raise my cup of tea to you and think you deserve a shout-out for your work :)

I’ll mention it to Red, since he’s the main forum guy, but try joining the episode discussion in the comments! We have a post for that every episode, and personally, I find it easier/more pleasant than the forum format because the comments allow replies to be threaded so it’s easier to follow the various discussions.
