Why do we get the feeling next week might just blow things wiiiiiiiide open? In addition to Mason Lockwood in chains (no, it’s okay if you need a moment), we also have Elena dropping quite the interesting mythology tidbit during the Bad Moon Rising teaser promo. Lucky Americans can watch the (downright haunting) extended promo on the CW site; everyone else can take a peek at the bite-sized promo below.

After a whole Summer without the Vampire Diaries, waiting for one week wasn’t so bad now, was it? The Return packed one hell of a punch, throwing surprises at us from all directions, and treating us to a deliciously wicked performance from Nina Dobrev as Katherine. Brave New World looks set to shock us even more, with a cliffhanger from last week being almost as tense as the one we were left with in the season finale. What does Katherine have planned next? Will Caroline deliver her message to the boys? And – most importantly – will Alaric be in this episode?
Watch and then swing by here to rate the new episode of The Vampire Diaries. Spoilers are welcome in the comments, though if you want some more in-depth discussion then head on over to the forums! (You’ll need to register, but it takes two seconds.)
You can also participate in the chatroom. Guests are welcome without having to sign up, and we have a channel specifically for discussing the episode live. You can also head into the main channel for general, non-spoilery Vampire Diaries and every day discussion.
Quick guide to the poll options: What’s a carnival without a Ferris Wheel? 5 Ferris Wheels = LOVE. 1 Ferris Wheel = MEH.
If the CW are trying to kill us with over-excitement tonight, they’ve succeeded. If you start suffering from dizzy spells, heart palpitations or fainting fits before you even get to watch Brave New World tonight, we suggest sending your medical bill to the CW. ;) Otherwise, if you think you can take the extra shock to your system, episode stills for episode 4 of the Vampire Diaries, Memory Lane are now up in our gallery, courtesy of the ladies over at Vampire Diaries Web.
After last week’s explosive episode of the Vampire Diaries, Melissa from The Televixen got together to chat about the events that took place in The Return with our very own Vee, Lucia (Heroine TV), Lee (From My Side of the Moon) and Connie (Blast Magazine). These ladies always put together one hell of an insightful and entertaining podcast, and their latest is no exception. Head on over to The Televixen to download or listen to the podcast online.
We’re guessing you’re all psyched for tonight’s episode of the Vampire Diaries, Brave New World, right? How about we add to the buzz with some behind the scenes images from the episode, complete with extra gratuitous pics of guys arm wrestling? Sample a few of the pics below, and then view the rest over in our gallery.
Zap2It‘s Carina MacKenzie has more from her Vampire Diaries on-set interviews. Paul Wesley discusses the “new” Stefan viewers noticed in The Return – though is it a Stefan that’s more himself, hmm? – and how this season will bring out a focused, lighter side of the younger Salvatore. And is Stefan heading for his own Alaric-Damon-esque bromance? (I’m posting this part especially for Red, who maybe flailed a bit.)
“I can’t see Stefan ever having other romantic relationships,” Wesley says, “but he’ll definitely have some more platonic relationships in Season 2. I can say that for sure. We’re going to expand his horizons a bit.” When I mention the hint of friendship that emerged between Stefan and Matt (Zach Roerig) last season, Wesley says he expects that to continue to grow.
E! Online’s Tierney Bricker recently chatted all about the Vampire Diaries with Katerina Graham, in particular Kat’s take on the possibility of a relationship between Bonnie and Damon, and repairing Bonnie’s damaged relationship with Elena.
While Kat isn’t sure if Bonnie will have a love interest this season, there is one relationship she will be focused on repairing: her friendship with Elena (Nina Dobrev, part two!). Will the BFFs be able to overcome all the drama from last season?
“These are two people that they are going to make an effort. They’re going to really try and repair, but I mean even me, if the situation had happened to me, I don’t know how much repairing could be done,” she said. “I know that they really, really love each other and that Bonnie has this almost desperate attachment to Elena because that’s her family now.”
PopWrap‘s Jarett Wieselman has an excellent interview with Vampire Diaries executive producers Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson about the show’s Season 2 premiere and what fans can expect as we delve into the first few episodes. Not a lot of topics go untouched here (no talk of Bonnie?), with Julie and Kevin talking about everything from Caroline, Lockwoods, and Katherine, to the intricate relationships that may very well be blown apart (or put back together?) this season. And how much do we love the discussion of Sheriff Forbes? LOTS.
PW: How would you two describe the theme of season two?
Julie: The theme of the series is very much the idea of loss, grief and death, frankly.
Kevin: And redemption.
Julie: You think redemption?
Julie: Revenge! [laughs] We’re gunna talk this out with you on the phone. If last year was about finding the people that filled your soul, this year is very much about the complications and consequences that come along with feeling those powerful emotions. And how much that can have a pretty extreme and painful domino effect.
MTV’s Hollywood Crush reveals the first official still from Memory Lane, the fourth episode of Vampire Diaries Season 2. While such a still may seem a bit anti-climactic considering we know this will be the season’s first flashback episode, we think Katherine’s cute boots might make up for it. For now. Head on over to Hollywood Crush to read their speculation.
We know what you’re thinking: You haven’t recovered from The Return yet, have you? We are so with you. But that being said – new Vampire Diaries tonight at 8/7c on the CW! We’re gonna keep the Big News safely under spoiler-cuts for a little longer, so here is our vague summation of tonight’s episode – Carnival! Fire! Threats of violence! Actual violence! Arm-wrestling violence! And it’s a “brave new world” for somebody, we’re certain! So grab the popcorn and settle in for what’s bound to be yet another wild ride. Don’t worry, we think the show will bring the nuts. (P.S. Feel better, Nina!)
Have some tasty Brave New World refreshment!
