Jim Halterman chats with Executive Producer Kevin Williamson about The Vampire Diaries Season 2 – from fan expectations and knowing Candice Accola “just had it” to the Jeremy and Tyler friendship (ahem) and why Kev enjoys Katherine. (There’s even a mention of our favorite so-far-missing-yet-still-beloved book character: “I do envision a world in which Meredith [Sulez] does make her way onto the show.”)
JH: Now that you know the fans are so committed to your regular characters on the show, does it make it harder to think about killing one of them off the show and keeping those stakes alive, so to speak?
KW: It’s very difficult. We’re worried. I always worry and I want to make sure that I honor the fans and ultimately please them but at the same time we’re a vampire show and if there’s no life and death consequences it’s going to hurt the show. Unfortunately, people do die in our world and I hate to say it but I’ll try to give them a great storyline and a swan song but sometimes those sudden deaths are predictable and shocking. I just can’t keep everyone alive unfortunately.
Zap2It‘s Carina MacKenzie caught up with Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder on the Scream Awards red carpet last night and each of them talk about “Uncle Mason” (seems both Damon and Katherine will be spending some quality time with the strapping young Mr. Lockwood in the coming episodes), while Nina teases some wicked Katherine action and Ian touches on his causes and the support of his fanbase. Click on the images below to visit their respective video interviews on Zap2It!
No, seriously, what does the moonstone do? While its purpose is yet to be revealed, Kill or Be Killed served up a good dose of classic Mystic Falls twists, turns, heartbreaks, and near neck snaps. I’m not even going to guess what that pretty little rock of secrets does — after all, I’ve been going on and on about what a stand-up good guy Mason Lockwood seems to be.
The episode opened with the threat of an alpha male showdown but it turned out that the women of The Vampire Diaries were the ones kicking ass and taking names.
The second stop on the Hot Topic Vampire Diaries cast tour was in Chicago yesterday, with the awesome Steven R. McQueen and Michael Trevino as the special guests. Queues were epic, fans were excited, and the screams were just as loud as ever. There’s video of the Q&A session courtesy of vampgurl789 (watch your necks, the second video is sideways, but the sound is great). Earplugs at the ready before you head in to watch Part One and then Part Two.
Sounds Under Radio are continuing to support the tour with their performances, and you can head on over to their website for a free download of their track “Sing”, which was featured in episode 21, Isobel.
Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, and Paul Wesley attended the 2010 Scream Awards, filming tonight in Los Angeles. (The big show airs this Tuesday, October 19th, 9pm on SpikeTV.) According to various tweets and reports, Paul didn’t walk the press line, but there are some nice shots of Ian and Nina on the red carpet, via Daylife. You can see a handful of others in the Gallery. For TONS more photos, check out Nina Dobrev Network and Behind Blue Eyes and Vampire Diaries Web.
UPDATED: Now featuring 100% more Paul!
Huge thanks to NiceGirlsTV for this, the last of their interview videos from the Vampire Diaries press room at New York Comic Con, featuring Sara Canning and Katerina Graham. I’ll go ahead and admit it. I’ve been very vocal in wanting the Vampire Diaries love fest, whether it be some type of panel or cast appearance or autograph signing, to make its way north of the US border to my home and native land. I still haven’t given up hope that something will eventually happen in Canada, but for now, my TVD thirst has been quenched. How excited was I to learn that a Vampire Diaries panel had been added to New York Comic Con? VERY, especially considering that I was already heading down to the Con with my significant other and my friend Sheryl, who just happens to be the person who introduced me to The Vampire Diaries series.
The weekend in NYC was great, but it wasn’t without its challenges. First, the hotel had no water for 24 hours. I nearly became a convention hygiene cliche! Second, the Javits Convention Center is a black hole encased in solid concrete. And third, purchasing wifi access in the convention center proved to be fruitless. Those obstacles aside, I decided nothing was going to keep me from savoring every moment of the moment I’d waited all weekend for … The Vampire Diaries Panel!
Lots of brotherly goodness for the November 4 episode of the Vampire Diaries, Rose. Damon and Stefan together? In a car? We dread to think what kind of arguments those two could have in the back seat on a long family trip… Head on over to our Rose gallery to see the rest. Many thanks to Vampire Diaries Web for the images, and to VampireSite for the heads up!
Missed out on an episode of the Vampire Diaries? Need a quick refresher before the next new episode that’s a little bit more detailed than the ‘previously on the Vampire Diaries‘ summary? Well, you’re in luck. AT&T and the CW have teamed up to bring you bite-sized recaps of season 2 episodes that have already aired. These videos contain a few minutes worth of the important facts revealed in the episode to keep you up to speed with all the goings on in Mystic Falls.
Thanks to @IHeartTVD for the heads up!
Seventeen posted a series of pictures featuring Steven R. McQueen, Zach Roerig and Michael Trevino. There might have been something about the scents the like or wear, but I don’t think anyone on Twitter was paying attention to that last night. ;)
