XXEntertainment Weekly caught up with Candice Accola to chat about tonight’s episode of The Vampire Diaries, She’s Come Undone (EP421), Caroline’s relationships with Elena, Stefan, and Tyler, The Originals‘ big Klaus twist, and graduation.

On Caroline and Elena’s friendship: Candice says that if/when Elena decides to turn her humanity back on, Caroline will have to try and reconnect with her. “Sometimes when someone has gone through a traumatic occurrence in their lives they’re just not the same person,” says Accola. “I assume that if Elena did turn her humanity back on, she’d still have to get her sea legs back. She’d still have to discover who she is and I think that would be hard for Caroline.”

Nina Dobrev as ElenaWe’ve all seen the Graduation (EP423 – Season Finale) stills, so how about some intel? Julie Plec talked to Entertainment Weekly about the season finale as well as the penultimate episode, The Walking Dead (EP422). On the graduation event itself:

“It’s difficult to throw an event in Mystic Falls without it going catastrophically awry, but one of the things that was really important to us is that we do give this event itself its due . . . We made sure that in spite of everything that’s going on in the midst of it, we still get those great friendship moments and nostalgia moments that I, as a fan of TV over the decades, loved so much on high school shows as you reached that milestone.”

She also talks about the dropping of the veil, someone taking the cure, Elena’s and Caroline’s feelings about their potential relationships, and more.

XXDigital Spy has not one, but two interviews with Joseph Morgan. The first is a Q&A about The Originals, in which Joseph talks about the backdoor pilot that aired last week and his view of the general differences between the two shows.

Now The Originals has been picked up to become a series on its own, what will that be about?

“I think the overriding theme of our storylines within The Vampire Diaries has always been about family. We can do terrible things to our family members but woe betide the person from outside who comes in and tries to mess with us! And so I think that’s going to be a theme of the series – family. And then also the sort of power struggle. Vampire Diaries is kind of a coming of age story, and I think The Originals is definitely more sort of epic. It’s even in the backdoor pilot that you’ll see – it’s almost like a war is brewing. It’s on a grander scale – it’s less about prom and more about a war between the vampires and the witches. So it’s good!”

The second interview concerns the last few episodes of season four of The Vampire Diaries (beware of spoilers) and a certain much-pursued cure.

“When I read the finale the main thing I wanted to know is, ‘Who’s going to get the cure?’” he said. “That’s what I was the most excited about – who on Earth is going to get the cure?

XX TV Guide has the first image from the season four finale, Graduation (EP423). The still features Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev, and comes with a few words from Julie Plec about the final episode of season four.

“We have a lot of questions on the table about Elena,” Julie Plec tells us. “Is she stuck this way forever? Is she ever going to turn her humanity back on? If she does, will the sire bond be back in effect or gone? If it’s gone, what are her feelings for Damon vs. her feelings for Stefan? The whole season has been trying to get Elena back to who she was, so everything will be answered in the finale.”
