THE VAMPIRE DIARIES
ETonline: Given how much I know you enjoy mixing things up, is it safe to say you were excited upon finding out this doppelganger twist?
Paul Wesley: [laughs] Oh, just a little. It’s that feeling of being excited and intimidated but I try not to get into my head too much and just have fun with it. But I was thrilled to do something new.
[Hollywood Life] I’ve seen the premiere, and Caroline has a few really emotional scenes, especially with her mom.
[Candice Accola] Yeah, that’s definitely a sweet moment. It’s a proud moment.
On a show like The Vampire Diaries, with so many twists and reveals, it’s hard to keep track of all the drama, so we’re helping you out by giving you a quick recap of what went down at the end of season four. Plus, we’re giving you scoop on what you can expect this season…
Alloy Entertainment: Daniella Pineda Teases The Originals & Reveals Her Mystic Falls Crush
Alloy Entertainment: We know Sophie is a witch, but can you tease anything else about your character?
Daniella Pineda: Out of all the characters on the show, Sophie is by far the most mysterious because there really is no telling who her love interest is or what she has in store.”
To get answers about Cami’s role in the show, Rebekah’s introduction, Elijah’s possible love interest and more, TVLine went to executive producer Michael Narducci.
And here it is, the final (or is it…?) TVD Season 5 promo poster via the official Vampire Diaries Facebook page: Damon Salvatore.
HAPPY SERIES PREMIERE DAY! The Originals: Always and Forever (EP101) airs TONIGHT at 9/8c after the Season 5 premiere of The Vampire Diaries. Lots of interviews and such hitting the web today, so quick hits:
“Klaus is an anti-hero. He’s an antagonist. He’s always going to have that edge. That idea that no matter how good he is, he can always just mess it up for himself.”
So he won’t be selling Girl Scout cookies?
“I mean, maybe poisonous Girl Scout cookies,” Morgan says with a sneaky smile. “To girl scouts.”
The Associated Press (via Huffington Post) – ‘The Originals’ Premiere: Joseph Morgan On Klaus’ Weakness And His Fanboy Side:
AP: Klaus was a big deal on “The Vampire Diaries.” He was talked about before he showed up on the show. Did you realize how important the role was to the story?
Morgan: I thought about like, ‘You know, maybe he should have a different name like they could call him like William or something.’ And then I looked up (the character) online and I was like, ‘Oh, no. This is already an established thing. We can’t go changing this.’
The Hollywood Reporter – ‘The Originals’ Preview: Charles Michael Davis on Marcel’s Kryptonite and Klaus’ Nightmare
How much more of Marcel’s background or journey can you reveal?
[Executive producer] Julie [Plec] laid it out in a way where all the regulars are connected in ways that we didn’t really imagine. She told us at our first table read, “All right, this is what’s going on with you and you …” We’re like, “That’s really detailed, that’s intricate, that’s deep.” Deep in the sense that you get a good feeling of it. Plus, in The Originals, being alive for a few thousand years, it’s a small world. All the characters have crossed paths. Given the fact that Marcel runs New Orleans, I’m sure he has relationships with everybody in that city.
As seen in the premiere, Sophie (Daniella Pineda) is the witch embroiled in the battle between Klaus and Marcel. And now that she’s gotten mixed up in Hayley’s baby drama, she probably wishes she’d never gotten involved. “She was never terribly invested in all of this and it’s all come down on her [since Marcel killed her sister],” Pineda says. “She’s under a terrible amount of pressure, but she’s being so careful and she’s so calculating that even though she’s terrified, she’s not going to show it. She’s also more powerful than people think.”
And here’s a super-fun piece from Entertainment Weekly: ‘The Originals’ star Joseph Morgan steals from EW offices.
Caroline Forbes is going to college, and Candice Accola sat down with TVLine to talk about that transition, Caroline’s relationships with Klaus and Tyler, Bonnie’s death, and more.
TVLINE | Back on campus, will Caroline and Elena become embroiled in any supernatural battles of their own?
I think everyone has an idea that the college experience is not going to be all about frat parties, that there’s going to be supernatural goings-on at college — otherwise this would be a really boring series and they would totally have to change the name from Vampire Diaries to College Life or something. [Laughs] There will definitely be supernatural stresses that follow them to college, and they’re really great. We’re also going to meet some new characters, we’re going to learn about more of the mythology and we’re going to really see all of these characters come together.
She also plays a fun word association game, so make sure you read the whole thing!
And over at The Hollywood Reporter, Candice talks more about Caroline’s college experience, including new character Jesse:
Early on, we’re introduced to a new college student, Jesse (Kendrick Sampson), who takes a shine to Caroline. How does he play into her story?
What’s really fun about the girls going to school is we have the opportunity to meet a whole bunch of new characters and Jesse is one of these new characters. He’s a very good-looking gentleman who seems to have taken a liking to Caroline, but Caroline’s really focused on Tyler (Michael Trevino) and is not in any position to want to spend time with [Jesse]. But Elena’s trying to encourage this budding romance, which quite frankly, Caroline does not consider a budding romance at all.
In advance of the series premiere of The Originals tonight, star Phoebe Tonkin spoke with Access Hollywood about Hayley’s search for information about her past, her relationships with Klaus and Elijah, and how she feels about unexpectedly becoming a mother.
Access: How scared at this point is she about becoming a mother?
Phoebe: You know, that’s the thing which is kind of the sad part about Hayley is that she went there looking for a family and still hasn’t found her parents, but [is on the way to becoming] one herself. I don’t think Hayley is as scared of having this child as she is [of] the threat of being a pregnant werewolf in a place where werewolves have been banned. She, I think, is still a little scared of Klaus. She knows that Klaus can be a little relentless in terms of what he does and doesn’t do, even in terms of his own family, let alone someone he got pregnant.

E!Online has the first peek at episode stills from The Originals third episode, Tangled Up In Blue. Check out Charles Michael Davis as a duded-up Marcel (not to mention an unusually angelic Cami, played by Leah Pipes) then head on over to E!Online to see the other pics!
ET Online has a rather candid interview with Ian Somerhalder about what viewers can expect heading into the Vampire Diaries’ fifth season. He touches on how this season compares to those before, Damon’s famous tendencies towards self-sabotage, Elena versus Katherine, and what he wants viewers to experience:
ETonline: Looking at this season, what are you excited for the fans to experience?
Somerhalder: The return of that feeling we all loved about season one. The feeling that initially sucked them in and allowed these stories to resonate. The scripts are coming in huge, the actors are pushing each other to make sure the scenes are the best they can be without compromising and it’s darker; and our show is supposed to be dark and we’re really taking it there this year.
Speaking of Katherine, the official TVD Facebook has just released her TVD Season 5 poster:
Parade talked with Charles Michael Davis about tomorrow night’s series premiere of The Originals, the relationship between Klaus and Marcel, potential romances, power, and thoughts on his character:
Marcel is the fun guy—but there’s an edge to him that we’ll see. How did you go about creating the character?
For sure he has an edge. He has a certain moral code, and high standards. So I looked for people that were fun, but you could see that in them. For me, Tupac was one of my main inspirations—watching his evolution, growing up, going to art school, then going to Oakland. And Marcel’s very business-minded, so I looked at Jay-Z and his books. He just thinks differently. I pulled a little bit of DMX, you can hear it in his voice. And I watched a lot of Training Day. I felt like Marcel is like always manipulating. With fear, with charm. He’s not apologizing for anything to Klaus. He’s so honest, but it’s a way of baiting him and manipulating him. I love that slyness, that subterfuge.
You mentioned a lot of hip-hop.
It’s my favorite Pandora station.
We’re blogging these two videos because we love Ian Somerhalder and Joseph Morgan. Too bad we feel the opposite about the questions and the interviewers.
When we last saw Rebekah Mikaelson, she was thrilled that Matt Donovan – the last human residing in Mystic Falls (look, close enough, okay?) – was taking her up on her offer to travel around Europe for the summer. And it looks like we’ll be treated to a peek according to Claire Holt at ET Online:
ETonline: How would you describe their European adventures?
Holt: Very dirty. Surprisingly dirty actually. When I read the first script I was like, “Wait, what? Is that a typo? Is that real?” Even when we were filming it I thought, “Are we allowed to do this?” We’re getting very risque in the 8 p.m. hour, but I think the fans are going to love it. All bets and clothes are off! However, I could have had far less attractive people to do it with. It wasn’t hard, but it was shocking.
She also discusses other things that are not Rebekah/Matt (Marcel, New Orleans, working with her best friend, Phoebe Tonkin), but we’re just so happy that something good happened to Matt, you guys. READ THE ENTIRE INTERVIEW AT ET ONLINE.
