Joseph Morgan as KlausAs if tonight’s season premiere wasn’t enough, Entertainment Weekly has revealed the first glimpse of Klaus and Elijah in 12th century garb (and hair!). In the accompanying video, costume designer Leigh Leverett talks about her style choices, and which character’s look was deliberately altered a bit from the period norm.

“I look at research from the period and find the best styles… that I think fit our show,” Leverett says about the three costumes she created for the episode. “We actually built all of this in our tailor shop.”

We’ve also got a few more interviews and goodies to help tide you over until tonight:

Daniel Gillies Teases Elijah's Season 4 ReturnMTV Hollywood Crush has an interesting chat with Daniel Gillies about the flashback episode of The Vampire Diaries he’s shooting for Season 4. In case you’d thought Elijah’s hair had revealed all of its secrets, Gillies assures us there will be yet another incarnation of the Original’s signature hairdo in the 11th century. Elijah’s coiffure aside, he does have plenty more to say on the subject of the Original family and why Elijah is an important force while Klaus is still in the picture.

“[Elijah is] going to be back, and what role do we expect him to play? I think Elijah brings order. Whenever he returns, s–t gets done,” Daniel explained. “He’s sort of the stabilizer. There’s always a shift in the equilibrium. I think he’s the only one who can truly sort of restrain his brother. I think he’s the only one with the dignity/lucidity to be able to strategize a way out of Mystic Falls and into some sort of sanctuary for their family. I’m not saying that’s what he’s going to do, I’m saying that’s what he’s capable of. I think if the family listened to Elijah, they’d be in an excellent place to position themselves in this very contemporary world that wants them all gone.”

The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesZap2It‘s Carina MacKenzie has more from her Vampire Diaries on-set interviews. Paul Wesley discusses the “new” Stefan viewers noticed in The Return – though is it a Stefan that’s more himself, hmm? – and how this season will bring out a focused, lighter side of the younger Salvatore. And is Stefan heading for his own Alaric-Damon-esque bromance? (I’m posting this part especially for Red, who maybe flailed a bit.)

“I can’t see Stefan ever having other romantic relationships,” Wesley says, “but he’ll definitely have some more platonic relationships in Season 2. I can say that for sure. We’re going to expand his horizons a bit.” When I mention the hint of friendship that emerged between Stefan and Matt (Zach Roerig) last season, Wesley says he expects that to continue to grow.
