Hollywood Crush spoke to Malese Jow recently about Anna’s qualities, and the reaction of the fans and cast alike to Anna’s fate in the season finale of the Vampire Diaries.

“Everything she did, she did out of love,” Malese said.

That’s why Malese thinks the inscription on Anna’s (fictional) tombstone should honor her many remarkable traits. “It would be along the lines of ‘A fighter until the end,’ ‘All for love,’ or something like that,” she said. “Anna had so many layers. Each episode, we would learn something totally new about her, or we would see a different personality.”

One of the best things about Anna was her ability to resonate with all types of people. “She became real,” Malese said. “As much as she was a vampire, people could relate to her.”

She also has a message for Team Anna:

Before she hung up, Malese wanted to express her gratitude one more time to Team Anna and the rest of her “Vampire Diaries” fans. “I love them to death, and I thank them so much for their support.”

Sara Canning alsotalked to Hollywood Crush about playing Elena’s aunt in the Vampire Diaries while being only a year and a half older than Nina Dobrev in real life.

Kevin Williamson and Julie PlecThere’s a fascinating, in-depth interview with exec producers Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec posted over at Deadline Hollywood. They talk a lot about the story of the Vampire Diaries and the process and difficulties faced when writing the episodes.

DH: It’s a very complicated story, and you do have to write in two different historical periods some of the time.
KW: From a writing standpoint, it’s a very difficult show to plot out. The genre element, the teen element, the high school hijinks combined with the life-and-death stakes on a week-to-week basis. And create all this mythology. So you have individual episodes that seem episodic enough. But at the same time, you are carrying an overall serial. It’s a very hard show to plot out. I find it very challenging.
JP: We read a review in the middle of our season, the end-of-the-year kind of stuff, and TV Guide gave the show an “A-”. And they said the only reason it wasn’t a perfect A is, they couldn’t imagine that we still had more story to tell, that we still had more episodes in us, and that time would tell.
KW: I’m telling you, we are so not out of stories, it’s crazy.

FEARnet interviewed Kevin about Scream, with the Vampire Diaries also getting a mention:

Of all your characters, whom do you best relate to?
I feel a little piece of me in everything. You know? I have a little bit of Randy because I’m the horror movie geek. And I’m still Dawson, I’m still Joey. [Vampire Diaries'] Stefan and Damon are characters created by L. J. Smith, so they may not be so personal, but I find something personal in them. I’m very connected to the idea of the loner and the outcast, like Stefan.

Psst. Dear FEARnet – It’s Stefan, not Stephan. We fixed it for you.

Julie also chatted with CliqueClack about the books, Stefan and Damon, Uncle John, and reminds us all that no one is safe.

DEB: Will we see more of Stefan and Damon changing roles as the series continues? I’ve loved Stefan on human blood and I’m hoping we get a little more Damon redemption from time to time as well, to keep it interesting. What can we expect?
JULIE: Stefan and Damon are ever-evolving characters. Stefan’s been a hero for many decades and will always struggle with the darker side of being a vampire. It will never be easy for him. Damon is on a hero’s journey of his own that we’ll see in big ways in the season finale.

Matt Davis has been talking to IESB about working on the show with his co-stars, how he got the part of Alaric, and hints at Alaric’s future on the show.

IESB: Are there any hints you can give, as to what’s in store for Alaric? Is there anything you’re particularly excited about viewers getting to see, before the end of the season?
Matt: I really just enjoy the development between Alaric and Damon. I’ve really enjoyed working with Ian Somerhalder. He’s such a wonderful human being, and Damon is such a fun character to play with. I’ve enjoyed that relationship. It’s been fun to play.

Finally, Malese Jow’s official Team Anna video (complete with support from Ian Somerhalder) has been posted up, and features the debut of her brand new song, “Red Light”. Check it out below.

The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesMTV’s Hollywood Crush has posted more from their Malese Jow interview. In addition to touching on her Team Anna project (which has already garnered over 200 submissions), Malese delves into the dynamics of her Vampire Diaries character and what makes her so appealing to fans.

It’s easy to understand why so many people are rooting for Anna, especially when you consider that she’s one of the most developed characters on “The Vampire Diaries.” “I love Anna because she’s so multifaceted,” Malese said. “She’s gone through the tragedy of having her mother taken away and wanting her mother back, to falling in love, to being this menacing person to get her mother. Now that she has her mother back, she can be a kid again. It’s so cool to get to see the teenager side of her because she sheltered that for so long. Now you get to really, really, really see Anna how she is in the next few episodes.”

KryptonSite is rocking the Vampire Diaries goodies today, this time in the shape of more Vampire Diaries episode stills from “There Goes the Neighbourhood”. Nice to see Pearl is catching up with the 21st century without too many problems, but it’s kind of sad to see her awesome 19th century dresses disappear into the past. Head on over to KryptonSite’s “There Goes the Neighborhood” gallery to see the other six stills.

At long last, we have some episode stills for episode eleven of the Vampire Diaries, “Bloodlines”, courtesy of SpoilerTV. We’ve got our first look at Bree (Gina Torres) and Anna (Malese Jow), along with Elena, Damon and Jeremy. Hopefully we’ll be seeing more stills soon.

Bloodlines: Bree Bloodlines: Elena, Damon and Bree
Bloodlines: Jeremy Bloodlines: Jeremy and Anna

We should be slipping back into a more regular posting schedule now that the holidays are (almost) over. We’ve had a break, and are now recharged and waiting impatiently for January 21 to hurry up and get here. ;)

We’d also like to take a moment to apologise for the Infernal Server Errors that keep cropping up – if you encounter these errors, hitting refresh a couple of times should fix it. We’re working with our hosting support to try and work out what exactly is causing it so we can fix it. It’s likely something to do with the recent WordPress upgrade, and hopefully we can get it fixed soon without resorting to reinstalling it.

Thanks to Vampire Diaries Show, a few new images from episode 10, The Turning Point. Click to see larger versions in the Media Gallery (including larger, unwatermarked versions of the IGN exclusive stills released yesterday).

The Turning Point

The Turning Point The Turning Point The Turning Point The Turning Point

TV Guide Magazine’s William Keck confirms what we speculated yesterday: Malese Jow is Anna, Jeremy’s potential new love interest, and today was her first day filming.

“She comes on as Jeremy’s smart new friend, Anna,” series creator Kevin Williamson tells me. Hmm…just a ‘friend’? … “We’ll see how it goes,” teases Williamson. “Jeremy certainly turns her head. She gets a crush. It starts in one place and maybe ends someplace else.”

A few Kat Graham interviews for you: A “sit down” with Just Jared and talking “Stefan or Damon?” over at Hollywood Crush:

Though Kat wouldn’t rule Damon out completely for Bonnie, she said. “After doing a lot of backstory for the script and delving deeper into every single relationship that Bonnie has, I’d say that I wouldn’t completely cut off Damon. At first I was like ‘Oh, no way, that’ll never happen.’ Then the more research I do and the more pain I find behind Ian Somerhalder’s character as a reason that he is the way he is, the more compassion I feel for him. I think that Bonnie is no less than compassionate no matter what happens to her and I’m kind of with the fans where it could go either way.”

And SciFi Wire gives 7 Ways Vampire Diaries Changes Everything Tonight:

3. Damon and Stefan have to work together. For the first time, the brothers have to work together to solve the problem that Damon created. Damon even saved Stefan’s life after he took a wood bullet and was almost staked by one of the townsfolk council people. Seeing Damon rip the bullet out of Stefan’s chest and tell him that no one else was going to kill him told us volumes about their relationship. Almost as much as learning that the mysterious Katherine turned them both into vampires in the 1800s. There’s more to that story, and we can’t wait to see more.

That above scene may be my favorite in the show so far. No lie.
