Hub Productions has confirmed that Steven R. McQueen will be a guest at their Vampire Diaries 2: Return to Mystic Falls convention taking place on June 9th in Sydney and June 10th in Melbourne.
He’ll be joining the previously announced David Anders and Michael Trevino, and it looks like they have a more few guests yet to be announced, so stay tuned! They haven’t released an exact schedule yet for events in the two cities, but we’ll do our best to keep you updated.
The final volume of The Return trilogy (and the final L.J. Smith-penned Vampire Diaries novel), Midnight, is out today in North America. We know Australians and U.K. fans have had the book for a few weeks now, and many U.S. and Canadian fans were discovering it in bookstores this past week, but today it should be widely available.

Good news, UK fans. The return date for the Vampire Diaries was announced this afternoon by @itv2: Tuesday, 1st February at 9pm on ITV2. Yes, that’s right, we’ll be seeing the episodes here in the UK only a few days after the episodes have aired in the US, and a day after Australia (and the show returns for you guys on January 31st on the GO! Channel). No more running and hiding from spoilers for weeks on end.
As suspected, Vampire Diaries Online were able to confirm that Ian Somerhalder’s appearance on Jimmy Fallon tonight has had to be cancelled due to the knock-on effects of the recent Atlanta Snowpocalypse and scheduling changes.
Finally, the folks over at TV Guide’s Mega Buzz have a few words to say on the upcoming vampire/werewolf war on the show, and it looks like Jules may be starting to mark her territory a bit where it comes to her own kind.
Australia’s GO! Network has posted their own version of the Year of the Kat promo. Season 2 takes its Oz bow on Monday, Sept. 13th. Thanks to CQTelevision for the heads up!
And thanks to @VDSource (via Vampire Diaries Italia) for pointing out this “Next Thursday” CW promo for The Return. Nothing new here, just that we can’t get enough of Katherine. And we like reminding everyone that Vampire Diaries Season 2 starts THIS THURSDAY!
No sign of any webclips for now, but we’ve got a couple of season two Vampire Diaries trailers to tide you over the weekend featuring Katherine (with a dash of Stefan) and Elena from the Australian GO! channel and the CW.
Thanks to I Heart Vampire Diaries for the heads up!
Season two of the Vampire Diaries is premiering in Australia on the GO! channel just a few days after the US on Monday, September 13th, and there’s a shiny promo trailer to go with it.
There are a couple of new promos that aired during tonight’s rerun of Miss Mystic Falls. We’ve got the super-short ‘TV to Talk About’ promo courtesy of Nina Dobrev Network
, and will update this post when the other one is available.
UPDATE: Second video
Hub Productions’ Vampire Diaries fan event this weekend in Sydney and Melbourne was, by all accounts, a good time for all. There were lots of tweets from Sydney and post-con tweets from Melbourne throughout the weekend, and we’re sure there will be lots more info as fans get some much-deserved rest.
You can check out a stream of tweets from the event by clicking #TVDozcon and at Cover It Live (set up by Paul Wesley Fans). Apparently reception was pretty spotty in Melbourne but keep an eye on Paul Wesley Australia and Salvatore Council for comprehensive post-Con wrap-ups. For an insider’s viewpoint, check out @FilthiAssistant – Twitter of the fabulous Meg at Hub.
Some exceptionally cool news – Hub’s auction to benefit Starlite Foundation was a hit! Paul’s shirts for Sydney and Melbourne pulled in around $1,000 each, and Ian’s shirt in Melbourne brought in an astounding $2,000. Well done to the lucky bidders! The Paul t-shirt winner in Melbourne, @Deanie_24, posted pics of the shirt on her Twitter: Front and Back.
We’ve compiled some links below but if you have something to add, drop it in the comments and we’ll add it to this post – recaps, videos, photos, your general impressions, etc.

In just over a week, Hub Productions’ Vampire Diaries fan event launches in Australia, featuring appearances from Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, and Michael Trevino. Want to help them hit the stage with style?
Hub’s Vampire Diaries video contest ends this Saturday, June 26th, at 11:59 p.m. AUSTRALIAN time. (If you’re unsure when that is in your time zone, check out the World Clock.) This is your last chance to splice together a kick ass introduction for each of these very special guests. All of the information you need to enter is on Hub’s website.
Hub and Vampire-Diaries.net have some very cool things in store for the four winners, with special thanks going out to KRMA Clothing, Smart Pop Books, Crissy Calhoun and ECW Press, and a bevy of bands that have been featured on Vampire Diaries – Stateless, Barcelona, Plumb, White Lies, and Mads Langer (with additional thanks to Copenhagen Records and Universal Music Group). You can read more about the prizes on Hub’s site and on our sponsors page.
Have fun, good luck, and ROLL ON, AUSTRALIA!
Australians, your Vampire Diaries event just keeps getting cooler: Hub announced today that Michael Trevino will join Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, and Paul Wesley in Sydney on July 3rd and Melbourne on July 4th. Other than the Atlanta Hot Topic event, this will be Michael’s first fan event appearance on behalf of Vampire Diaries, so attendees are getting an extra-special treat. Two days, four guests, and a ton of Vampire Diaries fans – sounds like a great time to us. Visit Hub’s official site for ticket and venue information.
Now that Michael has been officially confirmed, that means you can begin submitting Tyler Lockwood-centric intro videos to Hub’s Vampire Diaries fanvid competition. And trust us: You want to enter because Vampire-Diaries.net is giving away a lot of cool stuff to the four winners and we’ve added even more goodies to the pack, courtesy of Stateless, whose track “Bloodstream” was featured in the closing moments of Founder’s Day.
