Michael Ausiello has a teaser picture of David Anders guest starring as Elena and Jeremy’s uncle Jonathan. According to the article, even Jonathan has his own agenda for coming back to Mystic Falls.

The Alias and Heroes alum makes his debut in the April 15 episode when it comes time for Elena and Jeremy to sell their father’s doctor office. “He has to sign the escrow papers but he isn’t quite ready to give the office up,” explains fellow e.p., Kevin Williamson. “But like everyone else in town, he’s there for something [else]. His intentions are not pure.”

Looks like Damon has scared anyone off who might be planning to visit Mystic Falls for fun. ;)

According to TV Guide Magazine, actress Spencer Locke has been cast as Amber Bradley, a beauty pageant contestant who will turn up in a late-April episode titled “Miss Mystic Falls”.

We already knew Paul Wesley was attending, but now Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev have also been added to the Australia Vampire Diaries event being held by Hub Productions in Sydney and Melbourne in July.

Finally, TV Guide Magazine spoke with the Vampire Diaries gang on the red carpet at PaleyFest, and have posted video for you to enjoy containing that, along with some snippets from the panel itself.

Katerina Graham talks to MTV about upcoming guest star Melinda Clarke, who will be making her first Vampire Diaries appearance when the show returns on March 25th. Clarke will be playing Kelly Donovan (Matt’s mother) and, call us crazy, but we think she might be stirring the proverbial pot a bit, hmm?

Kat admits that the cast only wants to make sure that the show’s guest stars, like Sean Faris (may he RIP), feel comfortable working with the crew down in Georgia. “We’re a pretty close knit group and we always want to welcome any guest starts with lost of love,” she explained.

As we reported on Twitter last night, Australia’s Hub Productions is pulling together their first Vampire Diaries event for July 3rd in Sydney, 9am-6pm, and July 4th in Melbourne, 9am-6pm, and they’ve announced their first guest: Paul Wesley, with more guests to be announced. Get the details over at Hub.

Speaking of Australia – you guys grab your copies of The Return: Shadow Souls? It’s out now.

Thanks to Ian Somerhalder Italy for sharing a slew of Vampire Diaries scans via the Italian press, specifically Vanity Fair Italy (!!!), Telefilm, and Dark Magazine. (Sorry, no translations, but they’re still cool to see!) UPDATE: Thanks to Only Paul Wesley, you can read the Telefilm and Dark Magazine translated interviews (they’re the same) here!

The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesMetro.co.uk has an interview with Ian Somerhalder about that show he’s starring in – you know, the one aimed at “moody teenagers” (you guys feeling moody today?). As you know, the Vampire Diaries lands on the UK’s ITV2 on February 2nd, and here Ian talks Damon, vampire groupies, Lost, modelling, extravagant purchases and, if he was a kangaroo, what he could keep in his pouch (I know it sounds like something we’d make up, but I swear we didn’t).

Your character is a bit of a rotter, isn’t he?
Yes, but I don’t judge him. Everyone has righteous reasons for what they do in the world. He believes what he’s doing is justified. He believes he’s been wronged by his brother and has vowed to make him miserable for eternity. He’s just living up to his promise.

Also from the UK, Wales on Sunday has an interview with Nina Dobrev. Aside from her love of the English accent (and what’s not to love *cough*), Nina talks about the show, Elena, and the sex appeal of vampires.

“I love my character, and I can’t say too much because I don’t want to spoil it but things get pretty intense and I get to do a lot of amazing, really cool things, so every day’s exciting and every day’s different.”

Back in the USA, Paul Wesley is a “proud non-conformist”, and talks about getting kicked out of school, how he got started in acting, and going out for the role of Stefan.

“I finally went in after reading a bunch of times and it was literally me and nine other guys _ a couple from Australia, a couple from London and some from New York. And a week later I was on the set filming. But it was way worth it, I’ll tell you that much. It’s the greatest part I’ve ever played. It’s a little more fun to play the villain, but this is the most challenging thing I’ve ever done and the thing I’ve fallen in love with the most.”

Thanks to Vampire Diaries Web we have some more stills from Thursday’s episode, “Unpleasantville” in the gallery:

And finally, we’ve had word from several readers Down Under that the Vampire Diaries will return with brand new episodes on Monday, February 8 on GO! in Australia.

Blast Presents: New Moon has a feature on the Vampire Diaries with snippets from Nina, Paul, Ian and L.J. Smith (from her blog). Thanks to Kyra over at Media Blvd for the scans!.

We tweeted this yesterday, and it impressed quite a few people (including us!). @Sonylicious recorded the process of vampirising a picture of Nina Dobrev in Photoshop. It really is fascinating, and it’s amazing the skills that Vampire Diaries fans possess.

Finally, thanks to Jen for pointing us at some Australian publication dates for the Return Trilogy. The Australian Harper Collins website is listing January 2010 for the paperback version of Nightfall, and March 2010 for the paperback version of Shadow Souls. Nightfall has already been published in hardback, but there’s no mention at the moment of a hardback release for Shadow Souls.

The October 5-11 issue of TV Guide Magazine has an article all about Ian Somerhalder, from Damon, to Boone, to his early career. The issue will be on the stands on Friday, but thanks to Denise we have scans of the article for you below.

For Australian fans who missed the pilot of the Vampire Diaries on Monday night, GO! will be airing a replay on Thursday night at 10:30pm. As the article also states, there was indeed a surprise showing on Channel 9 on Tuesday night. Unfortunately, that information came our way a little too late for us to do anything more than a quick tweet to say ‘it’s on now!’. Hopefully Channel 9 will be airing it on a regular basis. We’ll let you know as soon as we find out more.

UPDATE: Looks like they’re taking the past very seriously over on the set of the Vampire Diaries. Along with filming flashback scenes from 1864, there were tintype-style photographs taken by a photographer who has since requested to be removed from mention on the site. We’re going to honor the request.

In any case, it was a photo of Damon and it was wicked cool.

Moving back to the present day, thanks to Marissa we now know the Australian airdate for the Vampire Diaries. Aussies, mark your calendars for Monday September 28th, 8:30pm on the Go! channel. They also plan on showing a repeat later on at 11:30pm.
