Congratulations to The Vampire Diaries for their Best Network Series nomination in the 37th Annual Saturn Awards, chosen by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films. Vampire Diaries is nominated alongside Fringe, Lost, Supernatural, Smallville, and V. Winners will be announced at a ceremony in June in Burbank. You can see the entire list of nominees over at Variety.
And via FilmBook, Vampire Diaries is also a nominee in the 15th Annual Prism Awards, dedicated to honoring accurate portrayals of substance abuse and mental health issues in media. TVD was nominated in Drama Series Multi-Episode Storyline – Substance Use for the Under Control / Miss Mystic Falls / Blood Brothers arc in Season 1. But after the revelations of Blood Brothers, did you judge? Well, flip on the CW at 8/7c and re-evaluate your feelings about the younger Salvatore; hell, the older Salvatore, too. Come to think of it, re-evaluate the entire Salvatore family and wonder what issues these two dudes don’t have. Now consider everything Elena’s got on her shoulders – Yeah. TV Guide Magazine cornered Michael, Candice, and Nina Dobrev at last night’s Young Hollywood Awards to talk about the Vampire Diaries season finale. We’ll highlight the least spoilery comment here, but head over to TV Guide Magazine to read what Candice and Nina have to say. (Candice said “tummy” – dear god, she’s adorable.)
“I think you’re going to be asking, is that person really dead?” said Michael Trevino.
From all the recaps and forum posts I’ve been reading today? Yeah, pretty much. Which makes me realize that the Vampire Diaries writers/producers have potentially pulled off a cliffhanger within a freakin’ cliffhanger. Doesn’t that violate some law of television science?

Last night’s ratings are in and Vampire Diaries pulled in 3.4 million viewers, according to TV By the Numbers:
Although beating Flash Forward again, the CW’s Vampire Diaries was flat vs. last week in adults 18-49 (1.6 rating), and women 18-34 (2.4 rating).

The CW has released more information on their Tweet Week, May 3-7, including which Vampire Diaries stars/producers will be participating.
The CW Network invites viewers to “Watch and Tweet” with stars and executive producers from each series from Monday, May 3 through Friday, May 7. Fans can visit tweet.cwtv.com to Tweet with cast members and producers during the East Coast telecast of each CW series. On the West Coast, fans of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES can also tweet along with executive producers Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec on Thursday, May 6.

We’re not gonna lie – we thought Children of the Damned was going to answer those big how-did-Stefan-and-Damon-become-vampires questions, but then the show pulled a fast one. We’re told some of those answers will come in a nice flashback package tonight at 8/7c on the CW, when Blood Brothers hits your screen like a ton of existential bricks. (Oh, Stefan. You are one hot mess. Make it work before Elena tells you to pack your fangs and go.) The discussion forums have been on fire with speculation for months about the hows and whens and whys and WTFs, but we think the particulars will still manage to shock and awe. Are you sufficiently recovered from the past three weeks of gut-punches and dance-inspired vapors? Good. Because history class is about to start.
ONLY TWO EPISODES LEFT BEFORE THE FINALE ON MAY 13TH.
