Cynthia over at SFUniverse has a brief interview with Katerina; she talks about what attracted her to the role of Bonnie, how she’d react if she really had psychic powers, and touches on something we’re sure will set a particular segment of fandom all a-flutter:
Stefan or Damon — which would you choose?
Katerina: And I know they’re vampires? I don’t know if I could choose. Say something happened between Bonnie and Stefan or Bonnie and Damon, at that point it wouldn’t be a struggle between them but a struggle inside herself, between right and wrong. Maybe that might come across in the next season or two and the fans will have to experience it with me because I have no clue how Bonnie would react to that.
411Mania speaks with Candice about auditioning, preparing for fame, her past projects, and of course Caroline:
Al Norton: How different is Caroline from who you thought she was when you auditioned for her?
Candice Accola: She’s different. When you audition you get these descriptions that are really blunt. “The frenemy who is jealous and catty”. But the when you get the script, Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec do such a great job with the writing that none of the characters are stereotypical. They have such great layering and everyone is much more relatable than you might think.

Starry Constellation Magazine has a great interview with Candice that delves a lot deeper into Caroline as a character and her relationship with Elena and Bonnie, in addition to touching on the chemistry of the cast on and off the set, why she jumped at the chance to work with Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec, and why she thinks The Vampire Diaries will have viewers coming back for more.
A lot happens in every episode and even on our end, they literally had to put the scripts on lockdown because they have different drafts come in and we keep trying to sneak as much information as we can. Not because we want to know what happens to our character, we want to know what’s going to happen with each other’s characters because it’s so exciting. A lot happens in every episode, there is a lot of action going on, you think one thing and by the end of the episode it’s a completely different thing.
And Relate Mag has the second half of their interview with Katerina Graham up. Not much Vampire Diaries talk in this portion but great insight into the actor behind Bonnie Bennett nonetheless. (We blogged about Part I here.)
On a side note: We have all sorts of warm fuzzies happening right now. Because.

We’ve got some episode stills from episode three (production code #102) of the Vampire Diaries TV series, ‘Friday Night Bites’. As the title implies, it’s a very football-focused episode, with a lot of Stefan in a football shirt (and both Vee and I agree that our favourite number is ’7′, so Stefan being ’17′ kind of tickles us). We’ll be adding our spoilery observations to the Friday Night Bites spoiler zone later on.

Entertainment Weekly‘s Ken Tucker reviews The Vampire Diaries pilot, saying it “promises us a season of sharp-tongued amusement.”
You need to look elsewhere if you were hoping that The Vampire Diaries would mark the beginning of the end of the current vampire craze (Twilight, True Blood, Glenn Beck). Fun stuff mixing blood with soap, Diaries signals a welcome return to form for writer-producer Kevin Williamson (Dawson’s Creek, Scream).
He gives the final product a B+. Read the whole review.
And we have another interview with Katerina Graham, who talks to Relate Mag about her career, the uncertainties of pilot season, her favorite set experiences, and the differences between her and Bonnie Bennett.
RelateMag: Is it difficult to play a character that’s so different from you?
Katerina: You just go to set as yourself, and then you become this character and you’re this character, and you go on. I have my recording studio at home with my pictures of all things that help me stay creative as a music artist. And then when I go to set, in my trailer I have pictures of all things Bonnie, things that she might like, things that she might do, all the back story, her favorite artists. So, as long as I get the essence of her, it’s good. Some days it’s easier to get into character than others, but I think that’s with any actor.

We have ten more stills from episode two of the Vampire Diaries, ‘Night of the Comet’, for your viewing pleasure (the others are in the gallery). For those of you wanting to see more Stefan and Damon together on screen (*cough* Vee *cough*), some of these should make you very happy. ;)
(Fair warning: some of these images might be considered spoilery.)

The folks at VampireDiariesWeb have passed on some unwatermarked versions of the Entertainment Weekly outtakes for our gallery (thanks, guys!). You’ve seen most of them already, but there are a couple more that we haven’t posted yet, which you can see below. Where were these when we wanted some fun images for the caption contest, eh? ;) (And on that subject, don’t forget to vote for your favourite caption before voting closes on Sunday night!)

A magic fairy sent us some super high quality images from the Love Sucks shoot, and we’ve got an excellent close-up of Damon’s ring. If you look at his ring in the Love Sucks ad-campaign, it appears to have an ‘S’ on it, just like Stefan’s. We’d been assuming they both had ‘S’ for Salvatore, but this picture reveals that Damon’s ring actually has a ‘D’ on it, indicating that Stefan’s ‘S’ is for his own name rather than their surname. Nifty, huh?

Some new stills from the Vampire Diaries TV series have cropped up, courtesy of SpoilerTV. Most of them appear to be from the pilot, while the final three look to be from the following episode. It’s good to finally see a clearer shot of Vicki (pictured with Matt and Tyler) in there, along with stills of Stefan on the roof with Damon, Stefan with Elena, Damon with Elena, and Matt with Bonnie. Hopefully some better resolution versions of these will turn up before too long, as it would be nice to see them in better detail.

In other promotional image news, a new poster from the WB has been released. It’s the same image that’s being used for the TV tie-in cover for The Awakening (due for publication on the 25th of this month), just in a much higher resolution so we get to see all the detail.

Zap2it has posted up some brand new Vampire Diaries promo pics of the cast from the Greystone Mansion shoot by photographer Andrew Eccles. There are eight photos in total (so far) of Paul Wesley (Stefan), Ian Somerhalder (Damon), Nina Dobrev (Elena), Katerina Graham (Bonnie), Candice Accola (Caroline) and Steven R. McQueen (Jeremy). It would be nice to see these in higher quality, so hopefully we’ll be able to get our hands on some of those soon. Now the burning question is: where are Matt, Tyler and Vicki?

In production news, Marcos Siega twittered earlier that episode 103 will be directed by Guy Ferland, known for work on The Shield, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Eleventh Hour. Good to see another choice of director whose work certainly isn’t your average teenage fare.
Finally, a billboard advert for the Vampire Diaries has been spotted in LA. Fingers crossed it doesn’t cause too many accidents or the CW could be neck-deep in personal injury claims. ;) Thanks to Michael Trevino and the folks over at MediaBlvd for directing us to this.

Examiner.com have posted up an interview with Katerina Graham, who plays Bonnie Bennett on the Vampire Diaries TV series. She talks about her early life and career, and also answers a couple of Vampire Diaries questions, neatly and sensibly addressing one of the issues that has been most obvious to fans of the books:
If you’ve read the books you’ll notice there are some differences between Bonnie and me, physically. The best thing I could have done for myself and for the fans, and to do justice to L.J.’s novels, was to forget the physical characteristics of Bonnie and capture her essence.
Nina Dobrev made mention of the fact she’s not blonde and blue-eyed like her book counterpart in an earlier video interview. It’s good to see the cast make mention of these physical changes in a positive manner.
