The Vampire Diaries: The Hunters: Moonsong - UK coverThe UK cover for the second volume of The Hunters, Moonsong, has now been revealed on Amazon.co.uk (click on the thumbnail for a larger version). White roses are symbols of innocence and purity, but also used as arrangements for rememberance. What do you guys think? Should we read anything into this, or is it just that white roses make the blood look more vivid?

Our book cover count for The Hunters is increasing, but we’d love to see other covers from around the world when they become available. If the books are being released in your country, why not let us know so we can share the covers and publication dates?

Amazon is also now listing the short synopses for both books. We’ve spoiler-blocked Moonsong as Phantom hasn’t been published yet. Mouseover or highlight the text to read it.

Phantom:

Since meeting vampire brothers, Stefan and Damon Salvatore, Elena Gilbert has been to hell and back. Now that she and her friends have saved their hometown from a demonic spirit, everything can finally go back to normal.

But Elena should know better than anyone that Fell’s Church will never be normal. In PHANTOM, a dangerous new other-worldly threat sets its sights on Elena. And this time she can only count on one Salvatore brother to protect her.

Moonsong:

Life is better than ever, Elena and her friends can’t wait to attend Dalcrest College. But when students start to disappear from campus, suddenly every new acquaintance is a potential enemy.
Then Elena uncovers a long-hidden secret, one that shocks her to the core, she realises that darkness has followed her from Fell’s Church. But will it be Stefan or Damon who catches her when she falls?

Phantom is due to be released on October 25th in the US and November 3rd in the UK. Moonsong is due to be released on March 13th in the USA and March 1st in the UK.

The U.S. and U.K. covers of Phantom, the first volume in the new Vampire Diaries trilogy The Hunters, have turned up – and do our eyes deceive us or is that Meredith making her first appearance on a TVD U.S. book cover? As for The Hunters trilogy itself – since L.J. Smith is no longer writing The Vampire Diaries series, we’re not sure how much of the original concept (as alluded to in her blog) remains intact. Here’s the official release from HarperCollins:

A regular on national bestseller lists, having sold well over three million copies, The Vampire Diaries series is a classic of thrilling paranormal romance. The Vampire Diaries series has captured the hearts and imaginations of readers—and the CW network TV show that it inspired has introduced millions more to the chills, thrills, and heart-stopping romance. Phantom begins a new trilogy in this breathtaking saga of love among vampires.

Since meeting the irresistible vampire brothers Stefan and Damon Salvatore, Elena Gilbert has been to hell and back. Now that she and her friends have saved their hometown from a demonic spirit, everything can finally go back to normal. But Elena should know better than anyone that Fell’s Church will never be normal. In Phantom, a dangerous new threat sets its sights on Elena. And this time she can only count on one Salvatore brother to protect her.

Hey, Vampire Diaries fans, do you fancy owning a black rose as found by Damon in a bouquet at the end of Shadow Souls? L.J. Smith is giving you the chance to win one of ten of the very roses featured on the left, which are genuine roses dipped in black enamel and edged with 24-karat gold. The grand prize winner will also recieve a rose plated entirely in 24-karat gold. If you want to enter the contest, head on over to the contest page for more information and to find out how. Sadly, due to how fragile these roses are and the costs and risks of shipping, the contest is only open to residents of the USA.

And courtesy of the fantastic LJS Cover Resource, we’ve got a bunch of new book covers for you. Some will be familiar on account of being variations on the North American covers, others are based on recognisable TV series stills. But there are a few brand new ones in there, with some featured below. Check them out in the book gallery.

Stefan's Diaries Volume 2: BloodlustHot on the heels of posting the first 7 chapters of Stefan’s Diaries: Origins, the cover for the second volume of the Vampire Diaries TV series tie-in books, Bloodlust, has now been revealed by HarperTeen. You can click on the image to the left to find a larger version in our gallery.

Bloodlust is set for release on January 4th, 2011, and is available to pre-order on Kindle from Amazon US and from Amazon UK in paperback and Kindle versions. We’re still waiting on an Amazon link for the paperback version in the US, and will update when it’s available.

In the meantime we’ve got Stefan on the cover of Origins and Damon on the cover of Bloodlust. Given that the third book, The Craving, is set after their time with Katherine, any guesses on who’ll be on that cover? Maybe it’ll be that mysterious third brother we keep hearing about who goes by the name of Defan? ;)

Smart Pop Books (our wonderful publisher, and yes we’re biased) has posted the complete Table of Contents (re: essay titles/subjects) for A Visitor’s Guide to Mystic Falls: Your Favorite Authors on The Vampire Diaries. And we tweeted this out a few weeks ago, but never posted it to the blog – it’s a back cover blurb! And a real, actual, honest-to-goodness bar code! (Click the cover to see a bigger, readable version in the Gallery.) The anthology hits bookshelves on October 19th, but you can pre-order your copy now.

Smart Pop has also has kicked off something special in celebration of Visitor’s Guide: During Season 2, book contributors will be writing recaps, blog posts, and “just generally sharing their thoughts on the season.” The first post – The Vampire Diaries: Caroline is “Seriously Badass” – is by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, who wrote a wonderful essay on Caroline for the book. She has a fantastic take on the show’s recent developments so check it out (Season 2 spoilers!), and stay tuned to the Smart Pop blog for more.

And there are already a few Visitor’s Guide giveaways floating about if you’d like to try and win a copy. You can enter contributing author Claudia Gray’s contest or enter the YA book blog Page Turners contest. And speaking of Page Turners, we wanted to extend a HUGE thank you to Stacey and company for being so supportive of the book, its authors, and this site. They’ll be running interviews with Visitor’s Guide contributors (Alyxandra Harvey is already up, and they even interviewed us), so be sure to check them out and give them a follow on Twitter: @PageTurners.

Bonnie's opal ringThose of you who have read Shadow Souls will know all about Bonnie’s opal ring. L.J. Smith has had such a ring made, and is going to be giving it away to one lucky Vampire Diaries fan.

Now you can win this version of Bonnie’s opal ring (see above). It’s made of 14 karat gold and 14 karat white gold, with one central opal and diamonds sprinkled around it. This is a gorgeous ring that sells for over $700—so pretty that I got one for myself! And if you didn’t win an autographed Shadow Souls book during the last contest–well, here’s your chance, because I’m offering ten (10) this time around as second prizes.

To find out more about the ring and how to enter the contest, head on over to L.J. Smith’s blog.

The lovely Lorraine over at the LJS Covers Resource has kindly passed on some more German book covers, a variation on the TV series-themed omnibus editions previously published.
