The winter hiatus may well be chilling us all to the bone, but Marathon Week is here to chase away some of those blues. That’s right, a whole week of Vampire Diaries, two episodes a night, and it kicks off tonight with The Return and Brave New World (featuring poor Carter, who has got to be the world’s unluckiest carnival hand).
Be sure to keep an eye out for a post later on today, because we have something really special planned to celebrate this marathon week. You will love it.
We’ve got refresher links for people who find September is all a bit of a blur, and the reaction polls ready for those of you who may be seeing these episodes for the first time (or haven’t voted already for some crazy reason).

Thanks to Candice Accola Web for the heads up about Candice Accola’s guest spot on IGN’s Channel Surfing podcast! Candice drops in to discuss Vampire Diaries, Caroline, filming in Atlanta, and even talks about Dexter and The Walking Dead. You can download the podcast over at IGN.
Speaking of podcasts, the intrepid Melissa of The Televixen’s Vampire Diaries podcast has been busy playing catch-up on all of the episodes we’ve been recording this season. In case you don’t know by now, myself, Lucia of Heroine TV, Connie of Blast Magazine, Lee of From My Side of the Moon, and The Televixen herself have been podcasting Vampire Diaries since Season 1, and Season 2 is giving us a plethora of entertaining chat fodder. (Warning: The podcast is marked “explicit” for language and themes!) You can download from TheTelevixen.com or subscribe on iTunes! Here’s a list of direct links for all Season 2 podcasts posted so far (with the Rose/Katerina podcast coming this weekend!):
- The Return: Let’s Blame Alaric (iTunes)
- Brave New World: Silently Burning (iTunes)
- Bad Moon Rising: Something Pretty Damn Epic (iTunes)
- Memory Lane: The Happy Vervain Dungeon (iTunes)

Following on the heels of Zap2It‘s ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Klaus casting: 9 guys we think could bring down Mystic Falls, BuddyTV has posted their 15 casting suggestions: Who Should Play Klaus on ‘The Vampire Diaries’? We don’t know about you guys, but while a few suggestions definitely pique our interest (um, Hal Ozsan? Yes, please – we don’t care who he plays), not a single suggestion has made us sit back and go, “Whoa. YEAH.” Granted, we’re not eager to attach too many expectations on the character’s appearance or presence because who knows what the writers have in mind? It’s wait and see at this point, though the speculation is certainly fun.

It’s marathon time again! Just like last year, the CW is clearing its primetime slate in December to make room for a Vampire Diaries Season 2 Marathon. From the press release:
Airing two episodes each night from Monday, Dec. 13 through Friday, Dec. 17 (8:00-10:00p.m. ET/PT), The CW will rebroadcast the first 10 episodes of the second season of its addictive hit The Vampire Diaries across its entire primetime schedule that week, beginning with this season’s explosive premiere. The Vampire Diaries is The CW’s most-watched and highest-rated series among adults 18-34 this season.
So that puts the schedule like so:
Monday, Dec. 13th: The Return & Brave New World
Tuesday, Dec. 14th: Bad Moon Rising & Memory Lane
Wednesday, Dec. 15th: Kill Or Be Killed & Plan B
Thursday, Dec. 16th: Masquerade & Rose
Friday, Dec. 17th: Katerina & The Sacrifice*
* Rumored episode title, not officially confirmed yet.

After the success of the giveaway to celebrate The Return on our screens last week, ITV2 did some rummaging around and produced another two sets of Vampire Diaries DVDs and flasks for us to give away to two more lucky UK fans. We’ll be doing the same as last week, and awarding one prize pack to the person with the tweet about the episode we like the most (remember your #tvduk hashtag!) and another prize pack after Brave New World airs to the winner of a trivia question based on the episode. Again, you must be 15 or over, and be a resident of the United Kingdom. We had the Vampire Diaries trending spectacularly on Twitter last week, so let’s see if we can keep that up! You can follow us on Twitter on @tvdnews, and be sure to give @itv2 a follow while you’re at it.
Tune in to ITV2 at 9pm tonight to catch Brave New World, or catch it again at 10pm on ITV2+1. Still need to catch up on last week’s episode? You can watch it on ITV Player, or download it in HQ from iTunes UK. Also, if you haven’t entered the ITV2 contest to win tickets to an advance screening of the season finale, what are you waiting for?
And don’t forget that Vee will be joining the VRO on their Twilight Diaries show at 9pm ET tonight to talk about A Visitor’s Guide to Mystic Falls. Be sure to tune in!
