The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesFirst up – hey, lucky Americans: The CW has webclips and the extended promo for Miss Mystic Falls (EP19) already up on their website. They also have the “Three Episodes Left” promo up, with sneak peeks at upcoming episodes. You can check them all out on CWTV.com. Everyone else: we’re sure they’ll hit YouTube soon enough. Keep an eye on the blog.

Busy morning already. Thanks to KrystonSite, here’s the full episode synopsis for Isobel (EP21). Highlight for spoilers or read in the Episode Index.

ISOBEL RETURNS TO MYSTIC FALLS – Isobel returns to town and stuns Alaric with her attitude and her demands that he arrange a meeting with Elena. When mother and daughter finally meet, Isobel refuses to answer most of Elena’s questions, but reveals that she will stop at nothing to find the mysterious invention Jonathan Gilbert has been searching for. Isobel’s dangerous actions lead Stefan, Damon and Bonnie to step in and help Elena deal with the situation.

The episode was written by Caroline Dries and Brian Young and directed by J. Miller Tobin.

Last night’s Vampire Diaries episode, Under Control, pulled in around 3 million viewers and beat FlashForward in the 18-49 age demo. We’ll update with the CW’s press release when it’s released, but you can get the details over at TV By the Numbers.

And for those looking for Under Control streaming/downloads…

The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesOn the heels of episode 18′s title being released, we now have a title/synopsis for episode 17 – and, speaking personally, it’s a brilliant shout-out to an equally brilliant vampire book/film: Let the Right One In. (If you haven’t read or seen the Swedish vampire tale Let the Right One In, get on yer Kindle/NetFlix and remedy that immediately.) And here’s the synopsis (highlight to read or head over to the Episode Index):

STEFAN IS FORCED TO MAKE A FRIGHTENING DECISION – When Stefan and Damon make a dangerous new enemy, Stefan suddenly finds himself in a perilous situation. Damon and Elena try to convince Alaric to work with them to help Stefan. Matt is hopeful that his mom, Kelly, may be back to stay. After her car breaks down in a storm, Caroline makes a horrific discovery that shocks everyone in town.

The episode is written by Julie Plec off a story by Brian Young, and directed by Dennis Smith. Thanks to SpoilerTV for the heads up.

As a side note, how bizarre is it that there are now only three Vampire Diaries episode titles left to discover? This season has flown!

The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesPaleyFest last weekend was fun times, and considering I made it to L.A. despite being sick as all get out, you’ll forgive me for taking the past week to recuperate and throw together some thoughts.

First off, it was nothing short of a pleasure (finally!) meeting Niyah (@CW_VampDiaries), Craig (@KryptonSite), and Carina (@cadlymack), and great seeing Jen (@NinaDobrevFan) again. And of course my travel partners-in-crime, Connie (@conallen) and Lucia (@Heroine_TV), who weathered my sick, pathetic butt and made me laugh so much. This fandom has a core made of awesome, wonderfully witty, hard-working folks, and the above are all class acts. You guys made my trip, so thank you. (The rest of you – follow all of the above on Twitter!)

If you’re looking for a thorough PaleyFest panel recap, I point you no further than Lucia/Heroine TV’s excellent breakdown. She touches on everything worth noting during the actual panel, and I can’t disagree with (most of) her personal observations either. (By the way, I’m the arm she grabbed in the last moments of the episode screening, heh, but more on that in a minute.)

KryptonSite gave us some sweet stills earlier this evening, and now we have the official episode description for A Few Good Men, the 15th episode of The Vampire Diaries (thanks, Craig!). Highlight to read or head to the Episode Index:

MELINDA CLARKE (“THE O.C.”) GUEST STARS AS MATT’S LONG-LOST MOTHER — Matt and Caroline are surprised by the sudden reappearance of Matt’s mother Kelly (guest star Clarke). Stefan and Elena are worried about Damon’s new attitude. Damon is asked by Sheriff Forbes to take part in a fund-raising bachelor auction. Alaric discovers shocking secrets from his own past. With help from Jenna and Stefan, Elena is determined to find out everything she can about her birth mother, but the truth may be more than she can handle.

Josh Butler directed the episode written by Brian Young.

The Hollywood Reporter talked with CW President Dawn Ostroff about the upcoming pilot season and she gives her perspective on what The Vampire Diaries adds to the network’s line-up (and even touches on the possibility of a spin-off):

THR: Between the durability of “Smallville,” “Supernatural” and the popularity of “Vampire Diaries,” should the CW head in a more genre-driven direction?

Ostroff: What “Vampire Diaries” has done so well is that it’s not just a genre show, it has romance and humor and friends that feel like family. There are so many elements that work on different levels. So although it is a genre or sci-fi show, it has a lot of other elements that make the show work for all of our audience. We picked up a show called “Be-Twixt,” which is a genre show if you will, but it has many of the same elements.

The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesAnd the hiatus continues – but luckily there’s been some news to tide us over, and of course the CW continues its encore airings of The Vampire Diaries. And it’s Wednesday! (You’re Undead to Me airs tomorrow.) Tonight? Family Ties, where we learn that Bonnie can light candles with her mind, Tyler can’t dance, and Stefan can be downright diabolical when he puts his booze to it. (Red made the blog icon all special-like, just for me.) We also received our first insight into the founding families and the Council this ep and we’re still figuring all of that out. (Did we mention Brian Young, the co-writer of this ep, is now on Twitter? Follow him @young_brian.)

Refresh your memory tonight (and join the discussion in the forum):

And we resurrect the poll:

What did you think of Family Ties (EP04)?

We’ve added the synopsis for episode 4, “Family Ties” to the episode index – if you’re avoiding spoilers, don’t click that link. ;) The episode was directed by Guy Ferland and written by Andrew Kreisberg and Brian Young. You can find more information about the episode over in the Spoiler Zone in the forums.

For those of you who missed Damon in the promotional poster we posted on Wednesday, fear not, he’s back for this brand new poster from the CW. There are also some textless images from this shoot in our gallery.

Game on, Elena

Finally, yes, we do know about the Tyler Shields photoshoot story. It is what it is. Moving right along now.
