Enjoy this taste of Because the Night (EP417), featuring Caroline, Klaus, and Stefan!
Zap2it has two new (video!) interviews up, one with Candice Accola and one with Paul Wesley. Spoilers for Stand By Me (EP415).
In this first interview, Candice Accola talks about what it’s like when a cast member departs for a while, how Caroline is dealing with the new Elena situation and the departure of Tyler.
Paul Wesley talks about Elena and Stefan, but he also speaks a little bit about Stefan’s relationship with Rebekah and his thoughts on The Originals spinoff.
Intrigued by Elena’s new look? Entertainment Weekly has an interview with TVD costume designer Leigh Leverett to talk about the style switch up. Again, beware of spoilers if you aren’t up to date on the episodes.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: How would you describe the “no-humanity” version of Elena’s wardrobe? What kind of transformation can fans expect?
LEIGH LEVERETT: It’s more like she just can go in anywhere and get whatever she wants. She can go into any boutique and compel anyone to give her anything as opposed to trying to look like Elena. Before it was still kind of Elena being Elena even though she was a vampire. Now it’s like she can just see something that she wants, and she can just go get it.
Miss Candice Accola on KTLA Morning News yesterday morning? Never fear – check out the full interview below!
And Ian Somerhalder stopped by PIX Morning News to chat about the return of new Vampire Diaries episodes tonight at 8pm.
There’s a lot of talk about Caroline’s relationships with Tyler and Klaus, but does it have to be all about the romance? Nope! In an interview with TV Guide, Candice Accola discusses another potential path for Caroline:
“What brings out Caroline’s openness is that… Klaus [reminds her] that there’s a whole other world out there,” Accola says. “She can travel and experience things and grow and learn, and that’s been implanted in Caroline’s brain and she can’t get it out. Klaus is the only person she can dream big with. It’s not that ‘we can run away in the sunset and be in love’ dream that she has with Tyler, but it’s running off to Paris alone and being independent. That’s enticing. … Klaus has aroused those thoughts in Caroline.”
Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive new webclip from Stand By Me (EP415). Spoiler alert for last week’s episode, so only watch if you’ve already seen Down The Rabbit Hole (EP414).
It’s almost Thursday! Here’s another peek from Down the Rabbit Hole (EP414).
Only a few more days until The Vampire Diaries returns from hiatus! It’s hard to be patient for even a few more days, but TV Guide is here to help with an exclusive clip from Thursday’s new episode, After School Special (EP410). Is it Thursday yet?!
It’s time to start gearing up for new episodes of The Vampire Diaries and what better way to do it than with a whole crowd of new promo pics from the good folks at E! We’ve got a teaser for you below, but don’t stop there! We’re happy to report that the whole cast is represented, (and most of them are rocking shades of charcoal, red and burgundy!). Ready for O Come, All Ye Faithful (EP409) tonight? Everyone has opinions on the latest turn of events in the Damon and Elena relationship and TV Guide Magazine caught up with Ian Somerhalder to discuss what the sire bond means to the couple’s fledgling romance and the steps they’ll each take to ensure what Elena is experiencing is the real deal:
TV Guide Magazine: Will it be good for the show if Elena and Damon stay together for a while?
Somerhalder: I think it’s good for the story: If Elena is with Damon, this sire bond is always an issue; plus, his brother’s really angry. So until both of them know if it’s true love, they’ve decided they’re not going to sleep together again. There will be more romance and less sex. Damon wants to do the right thing, but losing Elena is not an option. It’s a tough predicament for him.

More cast tidbits about tonight’s all-new (and fist ever holiday) episode of The Vampire Diaries, this time with Candice Accola. First up, she chats with IGN about Caroline’s perspectives on Klaus and Damon:
IGN: For quite awhile now with Klaus, there’s been the fact that he’s got this infatuation with Caroline. Might this play into these new plans?
Accola: Caroline is very well aware that she is able to use herself as — one my lines that I really loved is when Caroline goes, “Why do I always have to be Klaus bait?” And it’s true! It’s funny. Klaus is just enchanted with her. He also knows she’s playing him, but I think he likes that she’s playing him because he’s still a step ahead of her. But it gives him attention and a game that I think a character like him really wants. She’s definitely involved, but she still has an arm’s length between them. She’s definitely not on his side.
And over at MTV’s Hollywood Crush, Candice adds her thoughts on the sire bond and tonight’s much-rumored death:
Candice pointed out that flashbacks have provided a nice opportunity for some characters to return, but not everybody gets to come back for a period episode or a ghostly vision. “Of course, there’s always the potential that when a character leaves, that’s [really] it. The writers have created a world where they can do whatever they want and we have all known it from day one. Our first meeting in Atlanta started off with: ‘This is a vampire show. People will die.’ This is what we got into. It’s just the reality of the show that we’re on.”
