Happy Day-After-Thanksgiving! Check out this sneak peek of next week’s all-new episode of The Vampire Diaries. The Cell (EP509) airs next Thursday, December 5th at 8/7c on the CW.
Want to see some of Caroline and Tyler’s reunion? Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive clip for you from Thursday’s upcoming episode, Monster’s Ball (EP505). It was not made embeddable, so click through to watch.
Ahead of tonight’s new episode, For Whom the Bell Tolls (EP504), The Hollywood Reporter spoke with Kendrick Sampson about his character Jesse, Jesse’s relationship with Caroline, and the various mysterious things going on around Whitmore. On whether Jesse and Caroline should get involved:
“Whether something is hidden about Jesse or not, Caroline needs to break away from the funk. She’s still caught up in [a relationship] that’s not panning out well for her and she’s got this new life. We can all relate to that. She isn’t able to enjoy it and experience it in its full glory because she’s still stuck on this other guy.”
Despite a murder on campus (it’s probably a tradition at Whitmore college: you’re not a true student until you’ve joined a sorority or fraternity, drunk yourself into a coma, and witnessed your very first murder…), Elena and Caroline are still having a much better time of things in this True Lies (ep502) webclip than Katherine did in the first one.
Caroline Forbes is going to college, and Candice Accola sat down with TVLine to talk about that transition, Caroline’s relationships with Klaus and Tyler, Bonnie’s death, and more.
TVLINE | Back on campus, will Caroline and Elena become embroiled in any supernatural battles of their own?
I think everyone has an idea that the college experience is not going to be all about frat parties, that there’s going to be supernatural goings-on at college — otherwise this would be a really boring series and they would totally have to change the name from Vampire Diaries to College Life or something. [Laughs] There will definitely be supernatural stresses that follow them to college, and they’re really great. We’re also going to meet some new characters, we’re going to learn about more of the mythology and we’re going to really see all of these characters come together.
She also plays a fun word association game, so make sure you read the whole thing!
And over at The Hollywood Reporter, Candice talks more about Caroline’s college experience, including new character Jesse:
Early on, we’re introduced to a new college student, Jesse (Kendrick Sampson), who takes a shine to Caroline. How does he play into her story?
What’s really fun about the girls going to school is we have the opportunity to meet a whole bunch of new characters and Jesse is one of these new characters. He’s a very good-looking gentleman who seems to have taken a liking to Caroline, but Caroline’s really focused on Tyler (Michael Trevino) and is not in any position to want to spend time with [Jesse]. But Elena’s trying to encourage this budding romance, which quite frankly, Caroline does not consider a budding romance at all.
Everyone wants to know what’s going to happen when Caroline Forbes goes to college. Candice Accola has some hints for us, but she tells TV Fanatic that things may not start out as rosy as Caroline (and her fans) might have hoped.
“Caroline is actually really upset [on The Vampire Diaries Season 5 premiere],” the star says. “She wants this perfect college experience, but she keeps waiting for Bonnie to show up and Tyler to show up.”
The good folks over at Alloy Entertainment also ask about college life – including the roommate situation- and there’s an interesting question about what’s going on with Caroline’s course selections.
Alloy Entertainment: Speaking of classes, can you tease anything about Caroline’s interactions with Dr. Wes Maxfield? It seems so odd to picture Caroline sign up for a science lecture course.
Candice Accola: It’s very unlike Caroline to enroll in a biology course, and we’re going to learn more about her decision to do so. It’s definitely not something she’s ever expressed interest in. And this mysterious professor is not just giving her and Elena a hard time over their tests scores and whatnot. He has a personal agenda and some tricks up his sleeve outside of the classroom.
In the latest TV Guide on-set video interview, Candice Accola discusses the relationship between Caroline and Tyler and how it might evolve in season five.
“They definitely care for each other, but we’ll see that things have changed,” Accola says. “It does parallel what young relationships go through when they move to college and are in two separate places. You’re trying to figure out yourself and your life and your path and trying to meet other people. It’s a lot for a relationship to withstand. So, we’ll see how long she’s able to do that.”
Candice Accola has lots to talk about in this ETonline interview. She talks about Caroline being off to college, the show’s 100th episode and Caroline’s relationship with Tyler.
