L.A. Times reporter Amy Kaufman caught up with Ian Somerhalder on last night’s 2011 Teen Choice Awards red carpet. Somewhere in here, Justin Bieber happens. Ian seems incredulous about people actually watching The Vampire Diaries (and very grateful), dances around some Season 3 hints, and touches on being an actor actively involved with charities/causes.
And Nina Dobrev Network strikes again, this time with video of Kat Graham, Michael Trevino, Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley accepting the Choice TV Show: Fantasy/Sci-Fi, Choice TV Actor: Fantasy/Sci-Fi, Choice TV Actress: Fantasy/Sci-Fi, Choice TV: Female Scene Stealer and Choice TV: Male Scene Stealer. Check out the video on YouTube or below:
Thanks to Nina Dobrev Network for this: Video of Paul Wesley, Nina Dobrev, and Ian Somerhalder presenting the Teen Choice Award for Choice Movie Actor: Romantic Comedy at tonight’s ceremony.

Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, Kat Graham and Michael Trevino are all on hand for tonight’s Teen Choice Awards 2011 in Los Angeles and photos are already coming through from the pre-show red (okay, technically, it’s BLUE) carpet. We’ve gathered a sampling of photos (which you can see below or in the Gallery), but you for more visit Vampire Diaries Web, Nina Dobrev Network, and Katerina Graham Source. (Keep refreshing as they’re updating with new photos as I type this!) We’re waiting for some official photos of Michael to pop up as all we’ve seen so far is this screencap from the pre-show.
Wondering how all of that voting for the Teen Choice Awards paid off? Tune in to FOX at 8/7c tonight for the big live show and find out how many surfboards The Vampire Diaries will take home. Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Kat Graham, and Michael Trevino will all be in attendance. Fingers crossed for a TVD sweep of the event!

During the CW panel at the Television Critics Association press day today, new CW president Mark Pedowitz commented on the lack of an additional episode order for The Vampire Diaries (which had some fans up in arms last night). Turns out keeping Vampire Diaries Season 3 to 22 episodes was by Kevin Williamson’s request. Via @TVGMSchneider:
Kevin Williamson didn’t want to do more than 22 episodes of the #VampireDiaries which is why it didn’t get more eps like other #thecw shows.
The reason? TVD’s tight production schedule and the wish to not sacrifice the show’s quality for quantity. No reason to panic.
To read more about Pedowitz’s comments, you can read select tweets on the @tvdnews timeline and head over to Zap2It for a breakdown. Pedowitz touched on watching the show (he’s halfway through Season 1), DVD sales for TVD (question for the WB, but he thinks it does well), and whether additional L.J. Smith works are in development (he doesn’t think so – and we think that’s highly unlikely).
Kat Graham and Kevin Williamson represented The Vampire Diaries at last night’s TCA CBS/Showtime/The CW party. Check out photos of Kat below (UPDATE: Added a few pics of Kat, Kevin, Thomas Dekker, and CW president Mark Pedowitz courtesy of Kat Graham Source and the CW Network):
