It’s the news we know many of you have been waiting for: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Claire Holt will indeed be playing Rebekah in a co-starring role on the potential Vampire Diaries spinoff The Originals. She’ll join Joseph Morgan and Daniel Gillies in playing members of the Original family making the transition. The backdoor pilot will air April 25th.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, actress Leah Pipes has been cast in the lead human role of Camille in the backdoor pilot of potential Vampire Diaries spinoff The Originals. You may have seen her on Life Is Wild or The Deep End. Her character is “a college psychology student fascinated by the study of human behavior unaware of the supernatural universe that exists around her.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, actress Danielle Campbell (Prison Break, Prom) has been cast on the backdoor pilot of potential Vampire Diaries spinoff The Originals. She will play a witch named Davina:
” . . . a young and troubled witch who has been over-sheltered by protective caregivers. Her innocence about the way the world works makes her equal parts wondrous and dangerous. She’s delicate and ethereal but not without her own demons.”
The pilot of The Originals will air as an episode of The Vampire Diaries on April 25.

Klaus has found his protege! According to Deadline, actor Charles Michael Davis of Switched at Birth and The Game has been cast as Marcel, Klaus’s “diabolical former protege.” Warner Bros. has confirmed the casting to Give Me My Remote. Here’s a little more on the character:
“Wicked, wild and charismatic, Marcel is a former kicked -around street rat who now calls the shots in the supernatural playground of New Orleans. As a modern-day vampire, he’s fierce and bold, able to accomplish as much with his charm as he is with his strength.”

Deadline is reporting that actress Daniella Pineda has been cast as a regular on the potential Vampire Diaries spinoff The Originals. You may have seen Daniella in Homeland or The Fitzgerald Family Christmas. Daniella will reportedly play a witch named Sophie:
Pineda will play Sophie, a witch whose magic has been silenced but not snuffed. A leader and a sexy, sharp-tongued social force, she is quietly sowing the seeds of a revolution amongst her peers.
A backdoor pilot for The Originals will air as a Vampire Diaries episode on April 25th.
UPDATE: Via Give Me My Remote, the CW has confirmed Pineda’s casting, so it’s official!

TV Guide has learned that actors Charlie Bewley and Camille Guaty will appear in the second half of season four of The Vampire Diaries. Guaty’s character, Caitlin, will be a woman from Professor Shane‘s past, while Bewley will play a “tough and rugged” character named Vaughn. They speculate that he might be a hunter. Thoughts?

TV Guide has learned that actor Rick Worthy has been cast as Bonnie’s father, whose name is Rudy Hopkins. (Remember, Bonnie got her last name from her mom’s side of the family.) He will first appear in After School Special (EP410). You may know Rick from shows like Battlestar Galactica, Heroes, and Star Trek: Enterprise. You can read more about him on his IMDb page.

According to Zap2it’s exclusive, Scottish actor Paul Telfer has been cast as vampire hunter Alexander. Alloy Entertainment says he’s supposed to be “rugged, handsome and charismatic” and “has some mysterious connections to Rebekah which may very well be of the romantic variety.” Intriguing. You may have previously seen Paul on NCIS or Hotel Babylon; here’s his IMDb page if you’d like to read up on him.

We have some more season four casting news! According to TV Guide, Canadian actor David Alpay of The Borgias and The Tudors has been cast on The Vampire Diaries in the recurring role of Professor Shane, “an attractive and charismatic believer in the occult who has a history with Bonnie Bennett (Katerina Graham) and her family.”

TV Guide is reporting that Phoebe Tonkin, who you may know as Faye from The Secret Circle, has been cast in a recurring role in season four of The Vampire Diaries:
“The Australian actress will play Hayley, a wild, sexy and very free-spirited friend with whom Tyler (Michael Trevino) shares a past. She’ll first appear in Episode 3.”
Well, that should add another interesting element to the Caroline/Tyler/Klaus situation.
