According to a TVLine exclusive, The Originals has cast Elyse Levesque (SGU, Cedar Cove) in the recurring role of Genevieve. “The seductive and deceptive Genevieve returns to New Orleans with a mysterious agenda and some unfinished business with Rebekah and Marcel.” She will first appear in episode 13.
And over at Zap2it, Daniella Pineda discusses Sophie’s future in relation to the Harvest, the other characters, potential love interests, and more.
“It is a really big blow. The elders are gone, but the elders have the access to all the major power,” Pineda says. “Even though Davina’s sucked up a great deal from The Harvest, the elders know what they’re doing, they know how to proceed. And my character was rather reluctant in the beginning, so it’s a huge blow. Nothing could be worse for the witches than right now. The only other option is who will become the next elder, and that takes time.”
Davina is getting a love interest! The powerful witch currently locked in Marcel’s attic will find some time for romance when Pretty Little Liars’ Shane Coffey guest stars, we can exclusively reveal. Unfortunately, Tim has a run-in with Klaus and that will probably go as well as you’d expect it to.
According to a Deadline exclusive, actor Michael Malarkey (Raw) has been cast on season five of The Vampire Diaries in the recurring role of Enzo, “a charismatic but tortured figure from Damon’s past who arrives in Mystic Falls desperate to reconnect with his old friend.” He will first appear in the December 5th episode.
Deadline reports that actress Alexandra Metz (Chicago Fire) has been cast for an arc on season one of The Originals. “She plays Katie, a beautiful and mysterious witch with a hidden agenda that will have shocking ramifications for the supernatural community of New Orleans.” Alexandra previously tweeted about being on set, but we’re happy to see this confirmation of her role and information about her character.
“Dr. Maxfield is a brilliant — and somewhat cocky — professor at Whitmore College, and after meeting him, Caroline (Candice Accola) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) begin to think he’s hiding a dark and dangerous secret.”
“Kieran is a tortured Priest with a dark past,” executive producer Julie Plec says. ”Once a powerful and pragmatic diplomat between the humans and the various supernatural factions in New Orleans, he returns home looking for answers about a personal tragedy but finds a very different landscape than when he left.”
EW also reveals that Sebastian Roche will reprise his Vampire Diaries role of Mikael for at least one episode of The Originals.
According to an E!Online exclusive, Canadian actor Shaun Sipos (Melrose Place, Life Unexpected) has landed a recurring role in The Vampire Diaries season five. He’ll be playing Aaron, a new college friend of Elena’s:
“Sipos will play Aaron, who comes to college to escape his tortured past. It’s there that he meets Elena, and the two will bond over the fact that they’ve both experience and survived dark family tragedies.”
Between San Diego Comic-Con, TCA, and general summer distractions, some things inevitably fall through the cracks, so let’s catch up on some news and interviews we’ve missed in the past week or two. And never fear: Things will be gearing back up soon, as we’re only about seven weeks away from the joint premiere night for The Vampire Diaries and The Originals on the CW on October 3rd at 8/7c and 9/8c, respectively. (The Originals will then move to its normal Tuesday timeslot.)

“Krueger will appear in three episodes as Josh, a young tourist whose night out in New Orleans takes an unexpectedly dark turn when he ends up at Marcel’s bar.”
“Sampson will play Jesse, a fellow student who Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Carolina (Candice Accola) meet on their first at Whitmore College. As we first reported in Mega Buzz, Jesse will catch Caroline’s eye. Meanwhile, Russian-born Fonda will play a mysterious European beauty who follows Rebekah (Claire Holt) and Matt (Zach Roerig) back to Mystic Falls. Both characters will first appear in the season premiere.”
Update: According to TVLine, Fonda’s character is named Nadia:
The character, who will be introduced in the Oct. 10 premiere, “will ally herself with anybody — and employ any tactic — to further her own mysterious agenda,” read the initial casting breakdown. “An emotional chameleon, she can flip from stone-cold to flirtatious as it suits her needs. But the loneliness of her singular quest has taken its toll on her humanity, and she finds herself increasingly lost when it comes to genuine human connection.”
