The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesK!dult’s Lee Hernandez interviews Mystic Falls’ favorite (only?) history teacher, Matt Davis, about his role on The Vampire Diaries, the role he’s most recognized for, his interests outside of acting, and how those interests make it to his Twitter, @ErnestoRiley.

On The Vampire Diaries you play a history teacher. Are you a history buff in real life?

I’m an alternative history buff more than anything else. I have a passion for conspiracy theories, alternative histories, and different points of view that you don’t necessarily get exposed to in public schools.

Thanks to Kat from Portrait Magazine for the heads up on the magazine’s August cover, which features Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder (by popular demand). The issue features a lot of Vampire Diaries content, including: 25 Reasons we Love Nina Dobrev, Hanging with the Vampire Diaries cast in Sydney!, Ian Somerhalder: A Star with Conviction, Confessions of a TV-Holic: Crushing on the Bad Boy…, and Rise of the Vampires (the best Vampire Diaries quotes).

Think we forgot to post these a few days ago: CW Source has new video interviews with Nina Dobrev, Steven R. McQueen & Julie Plec from Comic Con. Nina talks about the challenge of a character imitating another character, Steven discusses not discussing what’s going on with Jeremy, and Julie talks about the big surprises in the Season 1 finale.

And finally, thanks to Ian Somerhalder Italy, here’s Ian’s shot from L’uomo Vogue. Click to see a bigger version in the Gallery.

Futon Critic has a series of “A Few Minutes With…” video interviews with the Vampire Diaries cast: Nina Dobrev, Michael Trevino, Steven R. McQueen, Paul Wesley, Matt Davis and Kevin Williamson. You can watch Kevin’s interview below and click everyone’s names to watch their video over on Futon Critic.

MTV’s Hollywood Crush continues to toss out interesting segments from their own video interviews; this new one is with Steven and Kevin and there are some definite hints about Katherine, Elena, and why the two look exactly alike:

Over on SyFy’s Blastr, Kevin Williamson discusses gay characters on The Vampire Diaries, diversity in general, and finding a good story (and provides a few more Season 2 hints in the process):

Williamson also won’t force a character to be gay when they need to be something else for the show. He’s writing a few guest-star parts now that won’t work as gay characters. “There’s plenty of characters coming, but the couple of regular characters that we’re bringing in are female, so I guess they could be lesbians, but we’re bringing them in for love interests. Once the wheels are in motion, it’s hard just to add something simply because you want to do it.”

The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesThanks to the eagle-eyed Denise who spotted this gem in TV Guide’s Comic Con special issue – the town of Mystic Falls now has its own website! If you’re a fan of viral websites, the double entendre-laden copy on this one is a lot of fun. Though we must say we are downright alarmed at the Mystic Falls Visitors Bureau’s complete disregard for providing body count statistics, clear warnings to campers and drivers, and neglecting to mention its “many forest creatures” have been dropping in number lately.

On behalf of the Founders Council, we’d like to invite you into our home of Mystic Falls, where a passion for hospitality is in our blood. Quench your thirst for adventure in Mystic Falls!

We haven’t discovered any Easter eggs yet, but we’ll keep looking. If you spot something, let us know!

CHECK OUT THE MYSTIC FALLS WEBSITE.

UPDATE: Here’s a scan of the original full-page ad in TV Guide Magazine (it’s on page 57, amongst the Chuck stuff). Click to see larger version in the Gallery.
