According to a TV Guide exclusive, Joseph Morgan is set to return to The Vampire Diaries for an episode as Klaus returns to Mystic Falls. No word yet on exactly when this crossover will happen. Why do you think Klaus is making the trip? Does it have to do with Caroline, or something else?
Crossover alert! There’s been a lot of speculation about whether or not there will be any traffic between Mystic Falls and New Orleans, and as Entertainment Weekly exclusively confirmed last week, Michael Trevino will be the first to make the trip. Tyler Lockwood will be heading South to The Originals, and everybody has questions about it.
“The crossover is happening very soon,” Plec teased. “I’m fairly certain we will see our first glimpse of Tyler before November is over. It will answer a couple of questions, one of which is at least answering the first piece of the mystery of the protective wolf.”

Thanks to Give Me My Remote, we have another goodie from San Diego Comic-Con to get us through this last long stretch of summer hiatus. Julie Plec spoke with reporters about The Originals, flashbacks, Shakespeare, potential crossovers, and more:
As most of you know, Kevin Williamson has been hard at work on the Secret Circle pilot (you can keep up with the haps at TheSecretCircle.net and on Twitter @secret_circle) and he’s finally addressing a rumor that’s been floating since the pilot was announced: A possible crossover between The Vampire Diaries and The Secret Circle (should it be picked up to series). But Williamson tells The Hollywood Reporter that it is indeed just a rumor:
Some have even hinted at the idea of a potential crossover with The Secret Circle, set in the North, and The Vampire Diaries, set in Mystic Falls, Va. But Williamson rejects any possibility of that. “The witches in The Vampire Diaries are not in the same universe. We’re not connecting them; there are no crossovers,” he says. “There are no vampires and werewolves in the witch world in Secret Circle.”
Truthfully, the rumor never made much sense to us, so we’re happy to hear that each show plans to stick with its own mythology and strengths. And we’re definitely interested in seeing how The Secret Circle adapts to the screen. (Even if there are no Henderson twins, sniffle.)
In the same interview, Williamson also lays some fan fears to rest concerning his commitment to The Vampire Diaries:
“My goal is for Julie [Plec] and I to stay focused on The Vampire Diaries, and Andrew Miller and his team will be in place and we will help and guide him along the way [on The Secret Circle],” he says. “I’m not going to step away from my vampires. I’m too invested at this point; it’s too much of a family for me to walk away from, but there’s room in our day for me to help guide The Secret Circle along the way.”
