Hiatus, Day 21. We are at the halfway mark, folks. Twenty-one days until the return of Vampire Diaries on Thursday, April 7th. Tonight, Crying Wolf (EP214) – in which Elena and Stefan visit The Gilbert Lake House Armory, some trailer-dwellin’ werewolves decide to hunt Salvatores (and a doppelganger), and Tyler makes a life-changing decision. Oh, and Elijah stabs Damon in the neck with a pencil and it’s awesome. It’s a heart-rippin’ good time at 8/7c on the CW, so huddle together and know the long hiatus nightmare is nearly over.

The lessons of Crying Wolf included this, perhaps the most important: Don’t accept a frappuccino from an angry, scheming Bennett witch. Oh, also! Respect an Original. YOU ARE WELCOME. That said, the end of this episode was bittersweet and the recappers had ALL SORTS OF OPINIONS on it. There is a lot of disagreement across the board this week but unanimous agreement that Elijah is a complete badass (they just disagree on whether his hair is nice).

Those darned wolves just won’t let anyone have any peace and quiet in Mystic Falls, and are determined to ruin everyone’s pleasant plans of romantic getaways and tea parties. Suffice to say that all is not well in our supernaturally-attractive town, and that there will be cheers and tears before this episode is over.
There’s plenty of time to still join in with the buzz following the episode after it aired in the US:
Tune in to ITV2 (and be sure to follow @itv2 on Twitter for some entertaining live-tweeting) at 9pm tonight to catch Crying Wolf, or catch it again at 10pm on ITV2+1. Still need to catch up on the previous episode? You can watch it on ITV Player, or download it in HQ from iTunes UK.

Mystic Falls is vampire territory again! The episode began with a werewolf-corpse cleanup, and by the end of the hour, Team Werewolf was down to two and headed out of town. Which means more tea parties with Elijah, Damon, and Alaric, right?

The overnight ratings are in for Crying Wolf, last night’s episode of The Vampire Diaries, and looks like the show was down this week with around 2.7-2.8 million viewers. Via TV by the Numbers:
The Vampire Diaries 1.2 adults 18-49 rating down 20% vs. last week, its 2.0 women 18-34 rating fell 17% vs. last week.
But, from the looks of things, every show was down.
Canadian fans: watch the episode the CTV website or MuchMusic.

Last night was really, really epic for Tyler Lockwood, who had a lot of thinking to do and some heavy decisions to make. In the aftermath of the episode, Michael Trevino talks to Zap2It’s Carina MacKenzie about Tyler’s decision and what the future holds. This interview is so spoilery for last night’s episode that we can’t even give you a snippet on here. Oh, and don’t forget to check out Carina’s video of the interview with Michael at the end of the article.
Far less spoilery is this video from Cambio, in which Michael answers a bunch of questions picked from Cambio’s fishbowl.

EXTENDED PROMO FOR THE DINNER PARTY (EP215) (Um, can you say EPIC?)
COMPLETE SONGLIST FOR CRYING WOLF (EP214)
SHORT PROMO FOR THE DINNER PARTY (EP215)
NEW STILL: Caroline on stage and singing in The House Guest (EP216)
Stefan and Elena are heading off to be serial killer bait for a romantic weekend alone, Damon will be attending a tea party, the werewolves are planning on ruining things for them all, and Tyler’s going to have some pretty sticky decisions to make. Just another dull day in Mystic Falls, then. ;)
Watch and then swing by here to rate the new episode of The Vampire Diaries. Spoilers are welcome in the comments, though if you want some more in-depth discussion then head on over to the forums! (You’ll need to register, but it takes two seconds.)
You can also participate in the chatroom, and we have a channel specifically for discussing the episode live – just click on the tab when you’re in the main chatroom. You will need to be a member of the forums to join in.
Quick guide to the poll options: Cabin by the lake? Look, it’s just asking for Jason Voorhees or one of his equally crazy mates to go on a killing spree. 5 Maniacs = LOVE. 1 Maniac = MEH.

TV Guide Magazine gets some insider info on tonight’s episode of Vampire Diaries, Crying Wolf, from Kevin Williamson. Specifically, he highlights Tyler’s struggle to reconcile Caroline’s friendship and lies with his feelings for her as well as where his loyalties are.
Oh, what the howl? After last week’s jaw-dropping face-off between Mystic Falls’ vampires and werewolves, it sounds like things are about to get even more hair-raising on The Vampire Diaries. “The werewolves want vengeance so bad,” says executive producer Kevin Williamson. “And now that Jules knows Tyler is a werewolf, she gives him a choice to make: Is he with the werewolves?”
