The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesAs many Canadian viewers have noticed, CTV has dropped Vampire Diaries from its main channel. Canada can now catch Vampire Diaries Season 2 on CTV’s A Channel (sadly, no HD), Thursdays at 8pm ET / PT and 9pm AT, as well as on MuchMusic, Fridays at 9pm ET/6pm PT (like last season). UPDATE: Thanks to @dusties for pointing out that the show can also be watched on Access where A Channel is not available.

As far as we know, CTV will still be streaming episodes on their website, but it’s not clear whether it will be available On Demand via digital cable. Thanks to Melissa at The Televixen for the insight!

The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesLittle late with this, what with Amazon posting the episode so late yesterday, but how ’bout Vampire Diaries Thursday night? The ratings for Let the Right One In are much better than last week’s, to say the least. From the CW press release, courtesy of TV By the Numbers:

The CW’s freshman hit THE VAMPIRE DIARIES scored dramatic week-to-week gains, with increases of 26% in women 18-34 (2.4/8), 20% in adults 18-34 (1.8/6), 25% in women 18-49 (2.0/6), 23% in adults 18-49 (1.6/5), 33% in female teens (2.8/11) and 25% in total viewers (3.5 million), according to preliminary live plus same day Nielsen ratings for Thursday, April 8, 2010. THE VAMPIRE DIARIES posted its largest total audience since 2/11/10.

Competitively, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES won the 8:00-9:00p.m. hour among female teens, and tied for second among women 18-34.

Let’s be sure we keep up those figures for this Thursday’s episode, Under Control, yeah? (Watch the extended promo.) And if you’re looking for good Let the Right One In discussion, our forum’s bursting with it, so join in! And if you want to rate the episode, vote in our poll.

And for those looking for streaming/downloads…

As a side note, the response to Let the Right One In has been tremendous across the board. Yesterday was the busiest day, traffic-wise, that this site has ever had, and the enthusiasm for Vampire Diaries seems to be at an all-time high. Only five episodes left in the season, guys – and we don’t think the show will disappoint. Let’s make every Thursday count through the May 13th finale.

The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesCTV’s eTalk has a segment featuring sitdowns with Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, Zach Roerig, and Sara Canning about the recent Hot Topic cast tour stop in Atlanta. The cast discusses how the event was their first real taste of the Vampire Diaries’ success, and Nina and Sara wave their “team” flags when it comes to Stefan and Damon. (There’s also a brief segment with Nina near the end of the video about health and yoga.) Watch the interviews over at CTV.

You know, speaking of Canada… Why is it that this fine country has loaned us Nina and Sara, yet no cast appearances yet? Who do Canadian fans have to talk to?

Speaking of Ms. Canning, she will be following in the footsteps of Michael Trevino and Zach Roerig with a guest stint on The VRO. No set date yet, but you can post questions on The VRO’s board, @ them to @TheVRO on Twitter, or email them to Amy at amymccracken [at] thevro [dot] com.

And finally, Inside Halton has an interview with recent guest star Dillon Casey (Noah) in which he discusses his stint on The Vampire Diaries.

“Vampire Diaries is a very successful show so the whole cast and crew are very confident and know what they want. It’s never easy coming on to a show halfway in as a guest star because you feel like everybody’s waiting for you to do something incredible to show why you got cast — but they were all nice people and made me feel very comfortable, so that feeling didn’t last long.”

The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesUSA Today’s Robert Bianco picked The Vampire Diaries as #9 on his list of top 10 new fall shows:

Chances are, your first inclination is to think of Vampire Diaries as a rip-off of True Blood and Twilight — even though the book it’s based on predates both. But beneath the gothic trappings, Vampire (produced by Dawson’s Creek‘s Kevin Williamson) is just CW doing what it does: building a teen soap around the complicated lives of impossibly pretty, alarmingly worldly young people who manage to seem prosperous even with no visible means of support.

Er – okay? Can we hope it’s more than that? Read the entire article.

TV Guide conducted a research survey to determine which new fall shows were most anticipated by viewers. The Vampire Diaries was #5.

And CTV is pulling out the stops for the debut of Vampire Diaries on the Canadian broadcast network. From their release:

As a new moon rises on the fall television season, CTV presents one of the year’s most-anticipated new dramas – THE VAMPIRE DIARIES – premiering Thursday, September 10 in a special 8 p.m. ET timeslot on CTV (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times). To get viewers in the mood, Canadians will be the first to see this deliciously dark drama series when CTV.ca presents an exclusive sneak peak from the first episode, premiering online at the stroke of midnight on Wednesday, September 9 (11:59:59 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Sept. 8). Adding to the buzz, CTV.ca also presents a four-part Webisode series exploring the mythology of the new drama, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES: A DARKER TRUTH, also premiering at 12 midnight Sept. 9. Based on the best-selling book series of the same name by L. J. Smith, this biting drama stars Canadian actress Nina Dobrev as Elena, a young girl who becomes the object of desire for two vampire siblings

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES will also be available on demand on The CTV Video Player at CTV.ca the day following the broadcast and on MuchMusic Fridays at 8 p.m. ET beginning September 11.
