We’ve been trumpeting the Lockwood aspects of Bad Moon Rising on Twitter all week, so we thought we’d remind everyone that tonight marks guest star Courtney Ford’s debut on The Vampire Diaries (8/7c on the CW!). We don’t know much about “Vanessa Monroe” or how long she’ll be around, but that’s a rather flirty look between her and Alaric, no? Maybe he’s asking her about her dissertation. (Has he asked Jenna about her dissertation?) Gosh, he’s so sensitive.

Why do we get the feeling next week might just blow things wiiiiiiiide open? In addition to Mason Lockwood in chains (no, it’s okay if you need a moment), we also have Elena dropping quite the interesting mythology tidbit during the Bad Moon Rising teaser promo. Lucky Americans can watch the (downright haunting) extended promo on the CW site; everyone else can take a peek at the bite-sized promo below.

After a whole Summer without the Vampire Diaries, waiting for one week wasn’t so bad now, was it? The Return packed one hell of a punch, throwing surprises at us from all directions, and treating us to a deliciously wicked performance from Nina Dobrev as Katherine. Brave New World looks set to shock us even more, with a cliffhanger from last week being almost as tense as the one we were left with in the season finale. What does Katherine have planned next? Will Caroline deliver her message to the boys? And – most importantly – will Alaric be in this episode?

We know what you’re thinking: You haven’t recovered from The Return yet, have you? We are so with you. But that being said – new Vampire Diaries tonight at 8/7c on the CW! We’re gonna keep the Big News safely under spoiler-cuts for a little longer, so here is our vague summation of tonight’s episode – Carnival! Fire! Threats of violence! Actual violence! Arm-wrestling violence! And it’s a “brave new world” for somebody, we’re certain! So grab the popcorn and settle in for what’s bound to be yet another wild ride. Don’t worry, we think the show will bring the nuts. (P.S. Feel better, Nina!)

The last images we were left with on the Vampire Diaries back in May were of Damon kissing Katherine=pretending-to-be-Elena, Jeremy overdosing on pills and blood, and Elena mere seconds away from walking in on Katherine ending John’s career as a hand model. It’s been a long, hard Summer, but now we’re all about to find out exactly what happens next. We don’t know about you, but we’re excited to the point of a severe case of nerves at this point.

Longest four months EVER, am I right? Put away those smelling salts, Vampire Diaries fans (on second thought, better keep them close by) – our show makes The Return (not “a” but “THE”) to the CW TONIGHT at 8/7c. And, by all accounts, the Season 2 premiere is gonna light a fire under every character and plot line this drama has going, and that’s like a bajillion. We could list all of the unanswered questions here, but why bother? You’ve memorized Founder’s Day and the rest of Season 1 – did we mention it’s been four months since the last new Vampire Diaries? – and now it’s time to sit back and take it all in. It’s a new chapter, so – ENJOY!

New CW series Nikita, starring Maggie Q, premieres in its post-Vampire Diaries timeslot tonight. I really liked this pilot and have hopes for the series – give it a shot. It’s not what you’d expect from the promos. It’s way better.
