Candice Accola and Steven R. McQueen were part of the CW’s 2011 Upfront presentation in Chicago yesterday and the Chicago Tribune’s Show Patrol sat them down for a nice (10 minute!) video interview. They talk about the last two episodes of The Vampire Diaries Season 2, Sara Canning and David Anders, and where Jeremy and Caroline may be heading in Season 3.

Zap2It chatted with Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, and Paul Wesley on yesterday’s CW Upfront red carpet to look back on the big moments of the Vampire Diaries Season 2 finale, specifically That Kiss and Stefan’s dark, uncertain future in the hands of Klaus:
Paul has always been a big fan of the dark side of Stefan. “I’m cautiously optimistic that Season 3 maintains that,” Paul says. “I don’t know what’s going to happen because they don’t tell us anything. I hope he doesn’t turn good, you know, episode two he’s like ‘Ah, what am I doing? Elena!’ and he starts crying.”

AOL TV Squad‘s Vampire Diaries recapper extraordinaire, Jean Bentley, caught up with Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley and Nina Dobrev (and more!) on the CW Upfront red carpet to talk naughty Stefan.
And PopWrap‘s Jarett Wieselman chats with Ian, Paul and Nina as well.
PopWrap: With Stefan’s turn towards the dark side, it seems like you’ll pretty much be playing one another’s characters next year, huh?
Paul Wesley: Literally! I’m going to be playing Damon, and he’ll be playing Stefan and we’re hoping no one notices.
Ian Somerhalder: It’s going to be a musical season.
PW: The finale set up some very interesting stuff for Elena in season three. What do you think about Katherine’s comment “it’s ok to love them both” — you think that’s true?
Nina: God, I don’t know. The thing is, you can’t help who you love and who you’re attracted to. It’s not something you can just shut off, so Katherine – for once – did have some words of wisdom! She told the truth, which is rare because she never speaks the truth. Or saves the day, which she also did!

Looks like The Vampire Diaries has a new dance partner on Thursday night, to the surprise of no one. The Secret Circle – executive produced by Kevin Williamson and Andrew Miller and based on the L.J. Smith series – has been picked up by the CW and will be taking over Nikita‘s 9pm slot. (Nikita moves to 8pm on Fridays.)

On Thursday, The CW’s Highest-Rated Hit “The Vampire Diaries” Teams with “The Secret Circle,” a New Drama From Kevin Williamson About a Coven of Powerful Witches
Thursday night will feature two shows from star producer Kevin Williamson and based on a series of books by author L.J. Smith. The CW’s top-rated show THE VAMPIRE DIARIES returns in the 8:00-9:00 p.m. timeslot, leading into new drama THE SECRET CIRCLE from 9:00-10:00 p.m. Britt Robertson stars as Cassie, an orphaned teenage girl who discovers the truth about her lineage – she’s a witch who holds the key to an ancient battle between good and evil.

Rachel Scoggins, a long time fan of the Vampire Diaries books and also a fan of the TV series, was at the CW upfronts yesterday. She managed to get some wonderful shots of several CW stars in the press tent and signing autographs, including Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley, and has been awesome enough to share those pictures with us.
