Terron Moore of Ology sat down with Ian Somerhalder on a recent set visit and got his take on his conservation work as well as Damon and Elena’s future. On his inspiration for becoming an environmental activist:
“Just being from a really delicate ecosystem—I’m from the Gulf Coast in Louisiana—so it’s literally one of the most delicate ecosystems in the world. It’s so unique and amazing. 45% of all the wetlands in America are in Louisiana where I grew up. If we lose those, we’re screwed. Which we pretty much did, after BP. And that feeling of helplessness… I decided that no one should ever feel that way.”
And whether he thinks Damon should be with Elena:
“People always talk about this Damon and Elena relationship, and I just can’t see that happening. I mean, he is pretty enticing, and suave, and he’s charming. But he’s a dick. He really is.”

Do they think Elena will choose Stefan, Damon, or someone else entirely? Ian’s take: “I think she is probably done with the Salvatore boys for a while.” And watch this video to see what Nina and Zach think:

In advance of tonight’s episode, Alix Sternberg of The TV Chick has a wide-ranging interview with Joseph Morgan in which he sheds light on Klaus’s relationships with everyone from his siblings to unlikely friends to potential love interests. (Warning: Spoilers through The Ties that Bind (EP312)!) On the evolving relationship between Klaus and Damon:
“Yeah, you know, I love those confrontations with Ian. It’s been a slow build between he and I. Well, I say slow build, but we tried to kill each other in the first five or six scenes we had. And then we got a little kind of more cordial. So it’s interesting how this relationship develops because most of them share that kind of loose cannon quality.”
He also teases a difficult scene with a horse and gives his thoughts on the Walking Dead finale.

And Hal Boedecker of the Orlando Sentinel also talked to Joseph about sibling dynamics and more. (Again: Spoilers through The Ties that Bind (EP312)!)
“I think Rebekah is the sibling Klaus is closest to. In a way, she’s the one he’s dreading to see the most because he loves her the most. I think that confrontation between the two of them will have to happen, and I think it would a crime if it doesn’t happen this season.”

Terron Moore of Ology just had brunch with Joseph Morgan, Zach Roerig, and Ian Somerhalder and got a nice serving of inside information, jokes, and TVD analogies to everyone from Batman to Yogi Bear to Kublai Khan. Warning: Spoilers through The Ties That Bind (EP312)! On Klaus’s trust issues:
JOSEPH: I think that there’s potential for him to change, yes, but it’s going to be really difficult. Because as well as being selfish, he’s incredibly paranoid. He’s spent the last 1000 years maintaining this lie he’s told his siblings. He’s the product of a dysfunctional family, having this horrible relationship with his father, being a bastard child, not feeling accepted by the rest of his family… so I think he has real issues with trust…
IAN: I feel like Klaus is what happened with Rome, or like, Kublai Khan. He’s created this empire of deceit, and he has to keep it down to protect himself.
Plus, Assignment X recently caught up with Candice Accola and asked her about shipping, stunts, and more. On how her dance training has helped:
“By no means was I going to be a professional dancer, but I grew up taking dance classes down the street and that’s actually been the most helpful in the stunt work, counting out the steps and “five, six, seven, eight, and punch.” It is funny how those little things that you learned as a kid that you don’t think are going to translate, all of a sudden, as an adult, they help you out in your job. So that was something that I did physically when I was young.”

Entertainment Weekly is in Atlanta on the Vampire Diaries set, and they’re getting all sorts of good scoop from the cast. (Warning: Lots of spoilers through The Ties That Bind (EP312)!) Joseph Morgan says, of the dinner party Klaus will throw in Bringing Out the Dead (EP313):
“This is going to be interesting because there’s all of that feeling, all of that tension from all of the fights and manipulation and history that’s been going on between these guys sitting around the dinner table. It’s like a game of poker.”
Intriguing! And they have a great video with Candice Accola in which she discusses Caroline’s reactions to recent events – including her new potential love interest and a “being” that is “creating a lot more turmoil than any viewer might think.” Plus: Ian Somerhalder on Damon’s odds of getting Elena – and who might have a better chance.

More from the TCA Press Tour! Collider talked to Kevin Williamson about the season, as well as his new show, in this interview. On why the love triangle between Elena and the Salvatores works so well:
“It’s a great love story because everybody loves everybody. No matter how much they hate each other, everybody loves everybody. It’s a perfect three-way, if they would all just come together. If they could all get along, it would be a hot time.”
We . . . would not object. Kevin also discusses his feelings about killing characters and his new pilot, in which it sounds like many characters will be killed.
