Fancast caught up with Nina Dobrev to discuss Elena, Katherine, and what motivations are behind those identical faces, particularly when it comes to the Salvatore brothers.
Who loves Stefan more: Elena or Katherine? Why?
I’d have to say that their loves come from two very different places. Elena loves Stefan (Paul Wesley) because she feels a deep connection with him that surpasses all the common emotions of high school life. Katherine loves Stefan because her history with him ties back further than most mortals could ever understand. And its like a game of cat and mouse. He’s playing hard to get. It’s exciting for her.

MTV Hollywood Crush has more from their interview with Candice Accola, who talks about Caroline’s connection to Matt and whether we’ll be seeing the return of Tyler any time soon:
“Yes. I mean, there is no way that that storyline is done,” she said. “When and how he’ll come back and his intention of why he comes back, I’ll have no idea what that’ll be.”
While she may not know how Tyler makes his return, she’s pretty confident it will be (in true “TVD” form) epic.
“The writers are gonna have an awesome storyline for that and I’m really excited to see what it is.”

And if you’re following Michael Trevino on Twitter (and why wouldn’t you be?), you know he tweeted some behind the scenes pics from his photo shoot for Bello Mag yesterday – and he looked sharp. You can check out some of the photos on his Plixi and even more at Oh La La. Michael says we’ll see more photos next week. And did we mention he’ll be on the cover of the next Bello? Nice!
And, finally, thanks to Vampire Diaries’ Director of Photography Paul Sommers for confirming that @QuestionAnders is indeed the one and only David Anders, a.k.a. the ever-charming Uncle Daddy John Gilbert. Give him a follow! Mr. Sommers would also like you to know that he is still not Paul Wesley, who remains Twitter-less.

TV Guide‘s Robyn Ross chats with David Anders about the return of John Gilbert and why he’s wasted no time in stirring up in trouble in Mystic Falls. Why is John hassling Alaric and Jenna? And what are his true intentions when it comes to Elena?
OK, so if John wants to cause trouble with Alaric and he still has ties to Isobel and Katherine, why should Elena trust him? “There’s a great scene between me and [Elena]; it will paint the direction that we’re headed as far as our relationship is concerned,” he says. “I’ve always described it as Darth Vader-Luke Skywalker-like, [but] I think that’s going by the wayside now.”

Entertainment Weekly‘s Spoiler Room has this tidbit about John Gilbert:
I’m loving David Anders back on Vampire Diaries. Have any good scoop on what he is up to? — Stacie
I do, and it comes straight from executive producer Julie Plec: “John’s ultimate agenda becomes crystal clear in ‘The Dinner Party,’ but he’ll be blindsided by the fallout from his actions.”
Thanks to @Shirarose1 for the heads up that Candice Accola will be featured on MTV’s When I Was 17. You can catch the show on MTV this Saturday, February 12th at 11 a.m. EST. Check out a sneak peek video below:
And one more Steven R. McQueen interview for you, this time from Chicago Now’s Show Patrol.
I read that the almost kiss with Bonnie was not in the script and improvised.
Yeah, yeah. I like to improvise, though it’s not always a great thing to do, but I’m big on being in the moment. It was only one take that happened and we were just kind of very close to each other and it was just a moment I felt would have been a cool beat. So I went for it and they ended up choosing that take, which was cool for me as an actor because we always experiment with different things and to see it work out like that was really cool.

Today was Vampire Diaries day at New York Comic Con (we think there might have been other stuff going on, but it pales in comparison to the Vampire Diaries, right?), with Kevin Williamson, Julie Plec, Steven R. McQueen, Katerina Graham, Zach Roerig and Sara Canning in attendance. Moderated by the lovely Carina MacKenzie (@cadlymack on Twitter – give her a follow), the panel was – by all accounts – a blast, with all kinds of intriguing spoilers and factoids being revealed (which you can see further down under the spoiler warning). Carina was also able to confirm with Steven that he doesn’t have a Twitter account. Anyone claiming to be him is a fake. Accept no substitutes.
Carina kindly gave permission for us to share a few of her photos from the event:

More media from NYCC
- Teaser footage for episodes 6 & 7.
- Pics by Ariel and JessiVanessi over at I Heart Vampire Diaries.
- Panel videos one and two from Ariel.
We’ll be adding links to videos and more pics when they’re uploaded (unfortunately cell service at the panel was poor, so many people weren’t able to tweet comments and pictures at the time). While we wait for that, get a load of the spoilery goodness revealed during the panel and in the press room.

Many thanks to Denise for sending us this scan. David Anders talks to TV Guide Magazine about playing villains, and throws in some juicy tidbits about Jonathan Gilbert in the Vampire Diaries while he’s at it. As if Mystic Falls wasn’t interesting enough already… someone must have cursed the town to live in interesting times. ;)

All hail KryptonSite for sharing stills from episode 18, “Under Control”, complete with better pictures of David Anders. Looks like Uncle John is making sure he introduces himself to Alaric and both Salvatore brothers all in the same episode – that can’t be good.
UPDATE: Stills added to the Gallery!

We have a handful of weeks to wait until the arrival of his character Jonathan Gilbert in Mystic Falls on April 15th (see a first look here), but David Anders recently spoke with Starry Constellation Magazine to talk Vampire Diaries. He drops some interesting tidbits about his role as Elena and Jeremy’s uncle, how he’ll be going head to head with Damon, Stefan, and Alaric, and how long we can expect Jonathan to stick around Mystic Falls (it’s longer than you’d think!).
Q. Executive producer Julie Plec has said your character will further complicate matters, can you tell us a bit more about your characters relationship with Damon?
A. Just like his great grandfather, the original Johnathan Gilbert in 1864, he knows far too much about vampires, more than he should know about vampires. So I’m a know-it-all and I hold the information that I have over Damon and Stefan’s heads threatening to expose them in Mystic Falls if they don’t play ball with me. There is a lot more than that which I can’t really go into.
Read the entire interview at StarryMag. Cool factoid: His girlfriend was a big book fan back in the day!
