PaleyFest last weekend was fun times, and considering I made it to L.A. despite being sick as all get out, you’ll forgive me for taking the past week to recuperate and throw together some thoughts.
First off, it was nothing short of a pleasure (finally!) meeting Niyah (@CW_VampDiaries), Craig (@KryptonSite), and Carina (@cadlymack), and great seeing Jen (@NinaDobrevFan) again. And of course my travel partners-in-crime, Connie (@conallen) and Lucia (@Heroine_TV), who weathered my sick, pathetic butt and made me laugh so much. This fandom has a core made of awesome, wonderfully witty, hard-working folks, and the above are all class acts. You guys made my trip, so thank you. (The rest of you – follow all of the above on Twitter!)
If you’re looking for a thorough PaleyFest panel recap, I point you no further than Lucia/Heroine TV’s excellent breakdown. She touches on everything worth noting during the actual panel, and I can’t disagree with (most of) her personal observations either. (By the way, I’m the arm she grabbed in the last moments of the episode screening, heh, but more on that in a minute.)

Well, the hiatus may suck but the dry spell of promotional goodies seems to be over. Trailers, synopses and now some episode stills courtesy of KryptonSite. Looks like Stefan and Matt have found something to bond over in the shape of cars. Vroom! You can check out the rest of the stills for the episode in KryptonSite’s Vampire Diaries gallery.

(And can I just say how much it’s driving me insane having to omit the ‘u’ from neighbourhood? I might make Vee type up this title from now on…)

Television Without Pity (via Yahoo!’s TV blog) lists their reasons for why The Vampire Diaries might be television’s most addictive show, including Nina Dobrev, the Salvatore brothers, the creepy factor, expanding on the books’ storyline, and more.
When “The Vampire Diaries” first debuted last fall, we worried it would be nothing more than “Twilight” for TV. But we’ve been happily proven wrong by the show’s quality storytelling and characters week after week. Sorry, “True Blood,” but this is the successor to “Buffy” we’ve been waiting all these years for.
We particularly agree with this one:
2. Tremendous Pacing
Something major has happened on the show almost every single week. Weaker shows drag out plot points for episodes on end, but “The Vampire Diaries” resolves those storylines in a mere forty minutes and then blows us away with something new.
Is there another show on TV that gives you a cliffhanger every single week? Read the entire list over at Yahoo!

Nina Dobrev graces the cover of Seventeen’s April 2010 issue, and thanks to Adoring Nina Dobrev for a peek at the cover:

And Seventeen.com has a slew of photos up from the photo shoot, along with snippets from Nina’s interview:
“Even though Elena’s going through all this stuff, has to keep all these secrets, and has all these responsibilities, she’s just learned to cope and figure things out and deal with a lot that most people don’t at a young age. She has to take care of her brother with a drug problem and be a parental figure in the household, her boyfriend’s a vampire, and her best friend’s a witch! A lot of stuff is going on, everyone’s trying to kill her all the time, so she’s very strong, she always rises to the occasion, and she always fights back. I think that she is a very strong woman, and she can take on anything and everything that comes her way.”
Read more quotes over at Seventeen and check out more photos below (click to see full images in the Gallery).

E!’s Watch with Kristin has a few interesting Vampire Diaries tidbits, and one is actually pretty huge.
Mae in Atlanta: Please tell me some of the sexy Vampire Diaries stars are hooking up in real-life!
Not so, says Candice Accola (Caroline). “There’s so much heat going on onscreen—we’re all just a family,” Candice tells us with a laugh. “I wish there was some juice or some crazy things going down, but not really. We disgustingly all just get along, and no one’s dating.” So apparently all the drama is happening on the show? Hmph! (Check the spoiler section below for that.)
What is the obsession with everyone hooking up, anyway?
And now we head into some major spoiler territory (seriously, DO NOT READ if you don’t want to know, and best avoid the comments):
Monica: Damon and Stefan for the win! Any scoop on Vampire Diaries?
Sorry, but I only have some good news for you Damon-Elena shippers: Stefan may dabble in something very un-Stefanlike again soon, which might change him somehow, and I just can’t imagine that goes over well with good girl Elena. Also, you’ll never guess whose body is going to be found…The next few episodes are gonna be good!
Check out Kristin’s column over on E! for more. (She’s also attending PaleyFest and is taking questions for the Vampire Diaries cast – email tvdiva@eonline.com. And thanks, Kristin, for a Vampire Diaries “spoiler” finally worth blogging about!)

We’ve had a steady stream of queries asking where one could buy Elena’s vervain necklace since the trinket was introduced in Friday Night Bites, but it looks like the CW has done fans one better. We first noticed that the official Vampire Diaries shop had replicas of Elena’s, Katherine’s, and Bonnie’s necklaces last week, but sadly they were already sold out. Good news: They’re back in stock and available for purchase (along with a few other goodies)! Click on the image to snag your own piece of TVD.
We eagerly await the Salvatore lapis rings and Caroline’s “lesbian friendship necklace.” ;)

Do we trust Damon? Should we? Kind of hard not to fall for those compelling baby blues, even if we do know what a bad boy Damon Salvatore really is. New promo poster from the CW up in the gallery (as if you hadn’t guessed), along with the textless version.
