It’s family reunion time as the CW encores The Ties That Bind (EP312) tonight at 8/7c. This episode features the first appearance of guest star Persia White – and though the “ties that bind” are mostly metaphorical, there are some literal ones involved as well. New episodes of The Vampire Diaries will return on Thursday, March 15 with 1912 (EP316).

Not that we want to think about this at all right now – we still have seven episodes left in the season! – but the CW has announced the Vampire Diaries Season 3 finale date:
Thursday, May 10th
That leaves us plenty of time to brace ourselves for a TVD-less summer. Also: You know how Vampire Diaries season finales go. Anything can happen.

Spoiler TV got their hands on four more episode titles as we head into the final stretch of Vampire Diaries Season 3 and we can confirm they are indeed legit. Following up 1912 (EP316), returning Thursday, March 15th:
Break On Through (EP317)
The Murder of One (EP318)
Heart of Darkness (EP319)
Do Not Go Gentle (EP320)
So we have references to the Doors, Joseph Conrad, and Dylan Thomas (!!!) – and maybe Counting Crows? All we know is that that leaves only two unknown episode titles for all of Season 3. Where did this year go?

The CW has released the official synopsis for The Vampire Diaries: 1912 (EP316), set to air when the show returns from hiatus on Thursday, March 15th. The episode marks the first TVD appearance of Cassidy Freeman as Sage. Highlight for spoilers or head to the Episode Index:
THE MURDER MYSTERY DEEPENS — The present-day murders in Mystic Falls remind Damon (Ian Somerhalder) of a similar crime spree a century earlier. In flashbacks to 1912, Damon recalls a beautiful vampire, Sage (guest star Cassidy Freeman), who showed him a whole new way to exist. Sheriff Forbes (Marguerite MacIntyre) warns Damon not to get involved in her investigation, but Damon is convinced she’s going after the wrong suspect. Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Matt (Zach Roerig) resort to breaking and entering in their search for evidence to prove Dr. Fell (guest star Torrey Devitto) is a murderer. For reasons known only to her, Rebekah (guest star Claire Holt), becomes interested in locating one of the town’s oldest landmarks. Finally, Elena comes to a new understanding of the path her life has taken, and Damon makes an emotional confession to Stefan (Paul Wesley).
The episode was directed by John Behring and written by Julie Plec with Elisabeth R. Finch.

Ditching the glitz of the previous episode, All My Children takes the weekly battle for survival underground as our Mystic Falls residents pick sides on Esther’s plot — righting the wrongs of a thousand years and restoring peace, or an immoral atrocity that would remove five of the most entertaining characters from our show in one fell swoop?

The bad news is that no, we don’t get a new episode until March 15. The good news is that the show is returning with a flashback episode, and it looks like a fun one! Travel back to 1912 (EP316) with this promo from the CW.
