On December 10th, Kat Graham and Ian Somerhalder hosted The Ripple Effect event, a charity dinner benefiting The Water Project. Vampire Diaries cast and crew members turned out to support the event and help raise awareness of the desperate need for clean water in Africa and around the world. Julie Plec, Nina Dobrev, Michael Trevino, Arielle Kebbel, and Bianca Lawson all attended the event, and while we haven’t seen a picture of Kevin Williamson yet, he was tweeting about Kat’s speech.

Here’s a selection of photos from Kat Graham Source (see LOTS more in their Gallery):

Creation Entertainment has updated the info page for their Vampire Diaries convention in Chicago, April 14-15, 2012. Creation Chicago with the Stars of The Vampire Diaries (#TVDChicago) will take place at the Westin O’Hare in Rosemont, Illinois, near O’Hare International Airport. Information on hotel reservations is forthcoming.

The page also lists a few confirmed guests: Joseph Morgan for Saturday and Paul Wesley for Sunday (the same as the Nashville con). But since a lot of text seems to be copied and pasted from the Nashville entry (including still having Nashville in the opening paragraph), we’ll take that as somewhat tentative for the moment.

In the meantime, stay tuned to the Creation website and follow them on Twitter: @CreationEnt.

IMG DESCAnother gem from The Hollywood Reporter. They’ve been talking with a lot of our TVD favorites lately, and today it’s Julie Plec’s turn to discuss Comic Con 2011. She shares some of her own experiences from past events, offers up a couple tips and has a few things to say about what might be in store at The Vampire Diaries panel this year.

THR: What are you planning for TVD panel?
Plec: We start shooting a week before Comic-Con but we have a wish that there might be a frame or two of footage that we might be able to show off. But we also have no idea what we’re shooting before then; it could be a complete and utter disaster. We could show up with nothing. But our plan is better than that. We’ll definitely have a nice little reel.

Comic Con 2011: Hollywood Reporter Q&A with Nina DobrevThe Hollywood Reporter has yet another Vampire Diaries-related interview in anticipation of Comic Con in San Diego next week. This time Nina Dobrev steps up to the plate to talk about her experience at the event so far, including who she has been able to meet, what not to do at a panel, what she’d be willing to wait in line for, and talks a bit about the upcoming season of Vampire Diaries.

THR: How will the originals impact everyone next season on The Vampire Diaries?
Dobrev: The originals have come in and now that stuff has gone to the dark side. The whole chemistry of the show is shifting and it’s going be changing the relationships between people who previously bonded. Now that Jenna is gone and Alaric is single and that Elena and Jeremy don’t have parental figures, if you will, it will be interesting to see who rises to the occasion. Everything has shifted, and everything is off-balance, so everyone is going to have to compensate in different ways.

Comic Con 2011: Hollywood Reporter Q&A with Kevin WilliamsonThe Hollywood Reporter has a Comic Con-centric interview with Kevin Williamson, who will be representing two CW shows at this year’s convention: The Vampire Diaries and The Secret Circle. Kev talks about his first Comic Con experience, why he enjoys the event so much, why the interaction between a property and its fans is important, and drops a few Vampire Diaries tidbits. (For the record, we think he meant “Klaus” instead of “Elijah” at one point, given the context.)

THR: What have you learned from Diaries?
Williamson: As a storyteller, I always felt that this type of storytelling — I call it hybrid – is part high school, part drama, part family, part vampire, part horror. I felt like all these types of shows when you see them on TV go too slow. I felt like it needed to have an energy to it. After watching eight years of 24, you can see what an adrenaline show can be like. I wanted to bring that adrenaline to a melodramatic horror soap opera. I didn’t want it to be slow and gothic and boring. I wanted it to be alive, and pulsating every step of the way, whether it’s through action, great emotion or epic love. I wanted to tell a big, huge epic story and I feel like the fans who watch it religiously understand that. And I hope more people will watch it. It’s just that little show on the CW still.

Michael Trevino added to EyeCon's Vampire Diaries convention line-upIf you don’t have your tickets for EyeCon’s Vampire Diaries convention in Atlanta, March 25-27, you really should remedy that because the guest list just keeps growing with awesome. Michael Trevino has officially been added to the convention line-up. He will join previously announced guests Paul Wesley, Steven R. McQueen, Chris William Martin, and Rob Pralgo for North America’s very first TVD convention. And, according to the nifty press release EyeCon just sent out:

Also announced is the launch of a fan made film/video contest. Fans will have the chance to showcase their creativity to the crowd and win amazing prizes. Guidelines for the video are as follows: the videos must be less than 10 minutes and must be original works set in The Vampire Diaries universe. The winners will be shown for the crowd at the convention!

We couldn’t find anything about the contest on their website just yet, but we’re sure more details/guidelines will be forthcoming, so be sure you’re following EyeCon on Twitter and on Facebook.
