Have we mentioned lately how much we love Lorraine over at the L.J. Smith Cover Resource? She’s been working her cover voodoo and has come up trumps with all kinds of Vampire Diaries book cover goodies for us.
First up, to your left you will see the UK cover for The Return: Midnight (click on the image to view a larger version). This is the first cover we’ve seen anywhere for Midnight, and I’ve got to admit to a little bit of pride that the UK got in there first. While we may have a cover, we’re still seeing a range of dates for the publication date, from July of this year to November next year. As soon as we have something concrete, we’ll get it up on the website for you.
We’ve also got some more covers for other books in the series – from reprints to brand new publications in the UK, France, Germany and Japan. Read on to view all the new covers…

Thanks to Vampire Diaries France we now know that the Vampire Diaries will be broadcast on channel TF1 at some point soon. We’ll let you know as soon as we have an actual air date.

Finally, congrats to the winner of our Vampire Diaries tote bag giveaway on Twitter, @Letthemeatcakex! Keep an eye out on our Twitter account for a new contest this coming Monday evening.

A bunch of shiny, new book covers for you all to peruse. Props to the UK publishers for a bloody feather on their Nightfall cover, which is actually on-topic, and much better than the apple (of which we shall not speak). The paperback version is due out in the UK on March 4, 2010.
Germany is putting out an omnibus edition of The Awakening and The Struggle (due October, 2010), and fans can look forward to Nightfall (with a cover featuring someone who looks more like Faye from the Secret Circle than anyone from the Vampire Diaries) in May, 2010. And finally, the French publishers have won our hearts by actually giving Damon his black eyes on their cover. Fans in France can look forward to seeing Nightfall published on February 3, 2010.

Thanks to the beady eyes of L.J. Smith covers collector Poppy, we now have a new international Vampire Diaries publication date. French fans have had the first double-volume of the Vampire Diaries available to them in book stores since February (you can read the first few chapters in French here), and on the 2nd September they can pick up the second volume, Journal d’un vampire Tome 2 (containing The Fury and Dark Reunion). You can see both covers below, as usual click on the thumbnails for larger images.

Since the Love Sucks promo was released, a few people have been busy translating it into various languages. We added a few to the original post, but as we get a lot of international hits (it’s amazing to see so much interest in this series from all over the world!) we thought it would be a good idea to make a quick post to get the links out there.
- English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing
- French subtitles
- Italian subtitles
- Portuguese subtitles
- Spanish subtitles
Don’t forget we have a list of the trailers so far (both in English and subbed) available on our trailers page. You can also find the .srt files for this trailer and the extended trailer on there. If you want to use them for translating the trailers into other languages, feel free to take them, and remember to let us know about them so we can add them to the list.

First up, we’ve transcribed the 5 minute extended Vampire Diaries trailer, and then added English subtitles to it. For anyone wondering why, it’s because there are deaf and hard of hearing fans out there (along with a couple of people with bust sound cards on their computers) who are interested in knowing what’s going on in the trailers, and want to get an idea of what all the buzz is about the Vampire Diaries TV series. I make no claims to perfection, but the speech is all there.
If anyone would like the .srt file for the purpose of translating it into other languages, please contact us and we’ll get you sorted.
Moving away from the English language, as promised we’ve rooted around and found as many translated trailers as we can. These are all English videos with subtitles in various languages. No one has attempted dubbing them yet, as far as we’re aware.
- French trailer 1
French trailer 2
French trailer 3
French trailer – extended (new) - Portuguese trailer 1
Portuguese trailer 2
Portuguese trailer – extended (VampireDiariesBR.com subs)
Portuguese trailer – extended (DarkSide subs) - Italian trailer
- Russian trailer
Russian trailer – extended (new) - Spanish trailer 1
Spanish trailer 2 (new)
Spanish trailer – extended (new) - Vietnamese trailer – extended (new)
Many thanks to all the people who worked hard to translate and upload those videos. I have a newfound respect for you all after just transcribing and subbing with my native English.
If you know of any languages or trailers not yet listed here, please let us know. We’ll keep adding to this list as we come across more.
