Ratings are in for “Night of the Comet”, and while numbers are down from last week, they’re still very good. From TV MoJoe:

“Vampire Diaries”: Against much tougher competition (DVR alert!), the show proved it’s still undead. Results: 1.7/6 in adults 18-34, 2.6/8 in women 18-34 and 3.76 million eyeballs. That’s down from the premiere: 2.2/8 in 18-34, 3.0/10 in women 18-34 and 4.84 million viewers.

There’s a new trailer for “Friday Night Bites”, similar to the one from last night but with a few extra scenes.

The CWSource has posted a video interview with Kayla Ewell, who talks about knowing from the start that she wanted to play Vicki, the audition process, and how much she loves working with Vampire Diaries’ cast and crew.

Popstar.com have an interview with Katerina Graham:

PopStar: Give us all the juicy details about your character Bonnie Bennett.
Katerina Graham: I play Bonnie Bennett in the show. Bonnie Bennett is psychic and she is also Elena Gilbert’s best friend, they grew up together. She has this foreboding energy about her, in the beginning it is about little intuitions and senses things which I think is so amazing. They are giving her this gift right when vampires come to town. She knows that something is wrong but she can’t put her finger on it. Throughout the show, her powers grow and she actually gets put to the test on a couple of things. It is a great character; she has this hippie style, very fun, innocent and very fun to play.

Finally, everyone give Nina Dobrev a warm welcome to the world of Twitter. She’s on there now as @Real_NinaDobrev, and the pretenders are no more. UPDATE Confirmed by Katerina Graham and executive producer of Degrassi, Stephen Stohn.

We tweeted this earlier, but the Vampire Diaries pilot re-run last night pulled in strong numbers, with 2.04 million viewers. Read all about it at TV By the Numbers.

Courtesy of a kind soul, we have some additional stills from “Night of the Comet” (EP02/101) and “Friday Night Bites” (EP03/102) to share with you today. And yep, still loving Caroline’s scarf.

Vampire Diaries has officially joined the Television Without Pity club. If you’re a TWoP addict (like me), you know to tighten your snark cap before delving into their recaps. Vampire Diaries fans have been snarking their own canon for years, so watching others take the reins on the TV show is going to be entertaining indeed. (Not that we won’t be having our own fun in this regard, but we’re into sharing.) Cindy McLennan has posted her recaplet of the pilot (full recap to come later), TV is the Answer tackles big questions, and Vampire Diaries now has its own shiny, official forum.

Stefan with his pet footballThe official synopsis for episode three, ‘Friday Night Bites’, is now up on the episode index page. The episode was directed by John Dahl and written by Barbie Kligman and Bryan Holdman, it looks like it’s going to be filled with a lot of action. And football. Lots of football. :D

SFX Magazine‘s October issue (out in the UK now) has an article about the Vampire Diaries TV series. Not much content – a short explanation along with a few snippets from Ian Somerhalder – but impressive enough that it got a full page given it’s not out in the UK until 2010. You can click on the image below to read the article.

We’ve got some episode stills from episode three (production code #102) of the Vampire Diaries TV series, ‘Friday Night Bites’. As the title implies, it’s a very football-focused episode, with a lot of Stefan in a football shirt (and both Vee and I agree that our favourite number is ’7′, so Stefan being ’17′ kind of tickles us). We’ll be adding our spoilery observations to the Friday Night Bites spoiler zone later on.

The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesWe rounded up this factoid last night and weren’t quite 100% on it; seeing as the name popped up in our comments too, we feel pretty confident in saying that our Jason Harris in the Vampire Diaries: A Darker Truth webisodes is an actor by the name of Matt Perello. The only major credit we could find to his name is a film called Last Bullet. You can see his bio on the film’s website. (Thanks to Danielle and jlgparis for the info.)

Also: The start of our Vampire Diaries Episode Index is now up. Not much there now as we await network synopses and some titles for post-Pilot episodes, but you can get an idea for how we’re planning to organize it. The landing page will be fairly streamlined, with the bulk of info for each episode living elsewhere on the site. (And can we just mention that we’re getting more and more excited about adding to this? And soon? A note about the episode numbering: We went with the production numbers to avoid confusing the slew of you who follow the production team/cast on Twitter. If you’re still confused why you see different episode numbers elsewhere, check out the infobox on the Pilot episode entry in the Wiki for clarification.)

  • [Images] Obviously this will link to that episode’s stills in our Media Gallery.
  • [Spoilers] In an effort to curb some of the more spoilery spec here on the blog, spoilers will now live in the Spoiler Zone in our discussion forum. There are two reasons for this: 1) We wanted to make the choice to seek out spoilers just that – a choice. If you click into the Spoiler Zone and then come crying to us about being spoiled, we won’t have any sympathy for you, and 2) relegating the spoilers to the discussion forum will make it easier for people to talk about them freely, away from virgin eyes. That said, we’ve removed a lot of specifics from the spoilers posted (and context). From this point forward, we’re into building anticipation (and we know some of you live for spoilers), not ruining major plot points. That said, this doesn’t mean we’re eliminating spoilery topics from the blog completely and we’ll continue to use the spoiler banner to give a heads up. (And now “spoiler” doesn’t even sound like a real word anymore after all of that.)
  • [Wiki Entry] This is where you will find expanded info about each episode, including a detailed synopsis (after the episode has aired in the U.S.), other cast info, trivia, production details, music, quotes, reviews, etc. And it’s as good as you help make it, so why not sign up for the Wiki and help out?

SpoilerTV has an synopsis for “Night of the Comet” (1.01 or episode 2) up on their site, via the CW. If you want a play-by-play of the ep, by all means – have at it. If you’d rather have a general, abbreviated version, you can check it out on the Episode Index page.

And finally, we have a slew of new spoilers up. Again, visit the Episode Index to pick your poison.
