Comic Con International’s full programming schedule has been announced and we’ve combed through to find the obvious and not-so-obvious Vampire Diaries-related topics and cast/crew appearances. Vampire Diaries will be representing big time this year and we’re sure there will be other tidbits to announce as we get closer to the big event, July 22-25. (Possible booth signings, for example.) If you want to relive last year’s Vampire Diaries-at-Comic Con experience, you can check out comprehensive coverage in our Wiki.
Vampire-Diaries.net will be represented by Jen of Nina Dobrev Fan at the Con. She’s a long-time friend of the site and TVD event ninja. (Seriously, I think she’s been at them all – first Comic Con, Hot Topic Cast Tour, PaleyFest…) She’ll be tweeting live on the @tvdnews account as things are going down. And she will most likely be wearing fabulous shoes while doing it.
Cast/crew members, past and present, who will be at the Con include Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, Michael Trevino, Matt Davis, Steven R. McQueen, Malese Jow, Julie Plec, Kevin Williamson, Marcos Siega, Pamela Shaw, and Gabrielle Stanton. Malese tweeted that she would be there with Koni Konfidential, a comic series currently being developed for TV with her as lead. UPDATED: Info added!
UPDATE2: Unfortunately, it looks like the Piranha 3D panel has been removed from the Con schedule, so we’re not entire sure at this point if Mr. McQueen will be there representing. We’ll update to let you guys know.
UPDATE3: Steven R. McQueen confirmed for Vampire Diaries Comic Con panel.

First up, a reminder: Michael Trevino will be guesting on Buzzworthy Radio tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET. The call-in number is (646) 595-4228. Jasmine Guy will be on Stardish Radio 8 p.m. ET, and that call-in number is (347) 945-5423. They’ll both be answering fan questions, so start thinking of what you want to know about Tyler and Grams – maybe there will be some goodies, eh?
Friday Night Bites is now available for your viewing pleasure on the official CW Vampire Diaries page. (USA only.)
We have a title for episode 8 (#107) – you can check it out in the Episode Index. The episode is written by Barbie Kligman and Gabrielle Stanton, and stepping in for directing duties this time around is Rick Bota. Bota’s credits include Jericho, Raising the Bar, and Close to Home.
Seems Logan isn’t the only Fell hanging around Mystic Falls – we have a Franklin Fell making an appearance, played by Jackson Walker. We’re not sure of his relation to Logan, but there be Fells! That sound you hear is our squee button being pushed – even though the Animal Control van is always there to remind us not to get too attached to various characters. “Anyone, anytime, anyplace” – right?

The official synopsis for episode five, “You’re Undead To Me”, is now up on the episode index page. The episode was directed by Kevin Bray and written by Sean Reycraft and Gabrielle Stanton.
SpoilerTV has posted a casting call for two characters in what we’re guessing is episode eight (it’s not clear if SpoilerTV are using production codes or episode numbers). Click the link to check them out.
And finally, Ben Ayres (Mr. Tanner) sat in on the Wine Ladies videocast at the Toronto International Film Festival, where he is promoting his film A Gun to the Head, and talked a little bit about the Vampire Diaries (begins at the 4:50 mark).

In news that will undoubtedly make the Moonlight fans in the house happy (and there are quite a few of you!): Gabrielle Stanton, who served as co-executive producer (along with Harry Werksman) on the short-lived CBS vampire detective series, is a consulting producer on The Vampire Diaries. (She and Werksman penned the episode Fleur De Lis, aka the episode that ensured my position on Team Coraline for life. Whatever, Beth Turner.)
Genre fans will know her best from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Farscape, and Moonlight, but she’s more widely known for her work on Ugly Betty, Grey’s Anatomy and, more recently, Nathan Fillion’s ABC show Castle.
Thanks to Julie Plec for confirming Stanton’s role in the series. Stanton will be taking part in the We Control the Vertical: Writing and Producing for Television panel at Comic Con on Saturday. Sadly, it lets out less than an hour before The Vampire Diaries panel begins, so doubt we’ll be able to catch it ourselves. If you happen to attend and some Vampire Diaries discussion goes down, please let us know!

Comic Con International has released its official programming schedule (except Sunday, so this list could very well grow). Some of this may be a little redundant now, but there is new info. Here’s everything in one post:
Preview Night: Wednesday, July 22, 6-9 p.m. in Ballroom 20
Warner Bros. Special Sneak Peek Pilot Screening
Comic-Con and Warner Bros. Television proudly present exclusive pilot premiere screenings of some of the most buzzed-about new TV series of the 2009–2010 season—Human Target, V, and The Vampire Diaries—as well as an exclusive preview trailer for additional upcoming shows.
We think the pilots will be airing in that order, but don’t quote us on that.
Friday, July 24, 6:15-7:15 p.m. in Ballroom 20
TV Guide Magazine: Sci-Fi Hot List
TV Guide magazine takes an in-depth look at some of the most buzzed-about new and returning TV series, featuring the hottest talent from in front of the camera and behind the scenes. TV Guide executive editor Craig Tomashoff moderates this panel that offers the inside scoop, along with special surprises. Scheduled participants include Johnny Galecki (The Big Bang Theory), Zachary Levi (Chuck), Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory), Scott Peters (executive producer, V), Rebecca Romijn (Eastwick), Kevin Williamson (executive producer, The Vampire Diaries), Scott Wolf (V), John Cho (Flash Forward), Marc Guggenheim (producer, Flash Forward), Allison DuBois (the real person behind Medium), and others.
Saturday, July 25, 1:30-2:15 p.m. at Warner Bros. booth
The Vampire Diaries Signing
Guests: Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, Julie Plec, Kevin Williamson, and Bob Levy.
Saturday, July 25, 4-5 p.m. in Room 8
We Control The Vertical: Writing and Producing For Television
TV’s most talented writers and show runners discuss the writing and production of your favorite television shows, past and present, and share amusing anecdotes from the television trenches. Starring Dave Simkins (Warehouse 13, Blade: The TV Series, Dresden Files), Javier Grillo-Marxuach (The Middleman, Day One), Charles Murray (V, Criminal Minds, Castle), Sarah Watson (The Unknowns, Parenthood), Gabrielle Stanton (Vampire Diaries, Moonlight), Steve Kriozere (NCIS, Dead & Deader, V.I.P.), Steve Melching (The Clone Wars, The Batman), Matthew Federman (Human Target, Jericho), and Ashley E. Miller (Fringe, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles). Moderated by Mark A. Altman (Free Enterprise, Castle).
Saturday, July 25, 5:55-7 p.m. in Room 6BCF
The Vampire Diaries Pilot Screening and Q&A
The Vampire Diaries stars Nina Dobrev (Degrassi: The Next Generation), Paul Wesley (Killer Movie), and Ian Somerhalder (Lost) appear with executive producer/writer Kevin Williamson (Scream), writer Julie Plec (Kyle XY), and executive producer Bob Levy (Gossip Girl), as the series makes its Comic-Con debut with a screening of the much-talked-about pilot, followed by a Q&A. This edgy and romantic new drama, in which two vampire brothers—one good, one evil—are at war for the soul of one girl, is based upon the bestselling book series of the same name. Lynette Rice of Entertainment Weekly moderates. From Bonanza Productions Inc., Outerbanks Entertainment and Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios, The Vampire Diaries airs Thursdays at 8:00 PM ET/PT this fall on The CW, premiering September 10.
Yes, as we pointed out on Twitter, it’s true: the True Blood and Vampire Diaries panels are overlapping on Saturday. Bummer.
As of right now, there’s no appearance/autograph schedule available for the Warner Bros. booth (which was insanity last year), but you can keep up with the studio’s plans at their Comic Con site and on Twitter (@thewbdotcom).
Vampire-Diaries.net will be in San Diego, live-tweeting (@tvdnews) from the TVD panel and all that fun stuff. We’ll post more details the week of the Con.
And yeah, we’ll have more about Gabrielle Stanton in a bit.
UPDATE: Yes, there is a lot of speculation floating about Ian Somerhalder possibly putting in an appearance at the Lost panel on Saturday (11 a.m.-12 p.m. in Hall H). Half the fun of the Lost panel is in the surprises – anything could happen. Regardless of whether Ian shows up or not, I’d urge any fan of the show to attend. It’s easily one of the most entertaining hours you’ll have while there.
