The third and final week of pre-hiatus giveaways has arrived! We’re going the simple route again this week because we want to spread the word about watching the mid-season finale of The Vampire Diaries Thursday night. Again, there’s no contest this time, just a giveaway where the winners will be chosen at random from the qualified entries. One grand prize winner will receive: The Season 3 promo mini-poster pictured here, signed by Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder and Joseph Morgan. Two runners-up will win unsigned Season 3 promo posters. And we’ll even throw in some extra TVD goodies, too.

This fandom is THE BEST. We weren’t sure the G.H.O.S.T. game would come anywhere near the level of awesomeness of the O.M.F.G. entries, but you guys proved us wrong and made us proud. If we’ve learned anything from these two games, it’s that TVD fans have a take-no-prisoners approach to anything involving an acronym. Well done!
There were so many excellent, clever and downright hilarious entries that we agonized over the decision, but the winning entry eloquently stated what we’ve ALL been thinking since the third season began. And the winner is…
Our first runner up sounds a little exasperated.
Our second runner up sent the entire V-D.net team into hysterics with this gem:

Starting tomorrow night, we’re heading into three epic Vampire Diaries episodes, so what better way to celebrate than with three weeks of awesome Twitter giveaways, courtesy of CW Network?
This week we’re celebrating TVD’s Halloween episode, Ghost World, with some fandom fun. Remember our OMFG Twitter contest? Well, we’re doing it again, only with a spooky twist. - Come up with a witty/funny/creative/etc. phrase for the anagram GHOST. It must be a Vampire Diaries-related phrase and you must post it on Twitter. (See the OMFG post for a clear idea on how to play.) EXAMPLE ENTRY: Grumpy Hybrid Original Seeks Team. #TVDGW
- All entries must have this hashtag: #TVDGW. You do not need to reply to us with your entry, just make sure it has that hashtag because that’s how we will be tracking the entries. Congrats to our own Crissy Calhoun on the release of Love You To Death 2: The Unofficial Companion to The Vampire Diaries! As regular readers of this blog know, Crissy wrote our episode recaps / commentaries this past season (and will be returning for Season 3!), and we’re sure you’ll agree she always has amazing insight into the goings-on in Mystic Falls. While the official release date is September 1st, this must-have guide to Season 2 of The Vampire Diaries is already available in some bookstores and on Amazon, so we’re celebrating now!

The day we’ve been waiting for both eagerly and with dread (hey, who wants long, hellish hiatuses, after all?) has arrived. As I Lay Dying, the season 2 Vampire Diaries finale, will be hitting UK screens shortly. As is traditional with this show, we get a lot of resolution with season 2 questions being answered… only for newer, more intriguing questions to be raised as we head on into season 3. Also, eagle-eyed viewers may well spot just where Vee left her immortal mark in the Grill.
We have another giveaway this week, so make sure you’re following us (@tvdnews) if you want a chance to win. We’ve got two copies of the Vampire Diaries soundtracks courtesy of the awesome folks over at ITV2. We’re using the same format as we’ve done with the previous UK giveaways – one soundtrack for the best tweet using the #tvduk hashtag, and one for the first person who tweets us the answer to the trivia question we’ll post at the end of the episode. You don’t need to use the #tvduk hashtag for the trivia question, but you will need to keep a sharp eye on the little things in the episode, because that’s what the trivia question will be based on.

This time tomorrow night UK fans will be gearing up to watch the season 2 finale of the Vampire Diaries, As I Lay Dying. To celebrate the episode (though not the dreadful Summer hiatus afterwards), we’re teaming up with the awesome ITV2 to do a special giveaway for UK fans. The prize pack contains the rather spiffing poster to your left. And this isn’t just any poster, it’s a metre-high print on acryllic, and we’ve been assured that it’s heavy (so if you win, make sure you don’t hang it above anywhere your head spends much time, just sayin’). As well as the poster, we’re also throwing in a Vampire Diaries soundtrack and a set of the Stefan’s Diaries books. One lucky winner gets it all.
