IMG DESCAfter the success of the giveaway to celebrate The Return on our screens last week, ITV2 did some rummaging around and produced another two sets of Vampire Diaries DVDs and flasks for us to give away to two more lucky UK fans. We’ll be doing the same as last week, and awarding one prize pack to the person with the tweet about the episode we like the most (remember your #tvduk hashtag!) and another prize pack after Brave New World airs to the winner of a trivia question based on the episode. Again, you must be 15 or over, and be a resident of the United Kingdom. We had the Vampire Diaries trending spectacularly on Twitter last week, so let’s see if we can keep that up! You can follow us on Twitter on @tvdnews, and be sure to give @itv2 a follow while you’re at it.

Tune in to ITV2 at 9pm tonight to catch Brave New World, or catch it again at 10pm on ITV2+1. Still need to catch up on last week’s episode? You can watch it on ITV Player, or download it in HQ from iTunes UK. Also, if you haven’t entered the ITV2 contest to win tickets to an advance screening of the season finale, what are you waiting for?

And don’t forget that Vee will be joining the VRO on their Twilight Diaries show at 9pm ET tonight to talk about A Visitor’s Guide to Mystic Falls. Be sure to tune in!

Smart Pop Books (our wonderful publisher, and yes we’re biased) has posted the complete Table of Contents (re: essay titles/subjects) for A Visitor’s Guide to Mystic Falls: Your Favorite Authors on The Vampire Diaries. And we tweeted this out a few weeks ago, but never posted it to the blog – it’s a back cover blurb! And a real, actual, honest-to-goodness bar code! (Click the cover to see a bigger, readable version in the Gallery.) The anthology hits bookshelves on October 19th, but you can pre-order your copy now.

Smart Pop has also has kicked off something special in celebration of Visitor’s Guide: During Season 2, book contributors will be writing recaps, blog posts, and “just generally sharing their thoughts on the season.” The first post – The Vampire Diaries: Caroline is “Seriously Badass” – is by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, who wrote a wonderful essay on Caroline for the book. She has a fantastic take on the show’s recent developments so check it out (Season 2 spoilers!), and stay tuned to the Smart Pop blog for more.

And there are already a few Visitor’s Guide giveaways floating about if you’d like to try and win a copy. You can enter contributing author Claudia Gray’s contest or enter the YA book blog Page Turners contest. And speaking of Page Turners, we wanted to extend a HUGE thank you to Stacey and company for being so supportive of the book, its authors, and this site. They’ll be running interviews with Visitor’s Guide contributors (Alyxandra Harvey is already up, and they even interviewed us), so be sure to check them out and give them a follow on Twitter: @PageTurners.

We’ve known for a while that Kevin Williamson loves to keep things as mysterious for the cast as he does for the fans in regards to upcoming Vampire Diaries storylines, and the mystery of Katherine is no exception. MTV’s Hollywood Crush spoke to Paul Wesley on the subject of our favourite wicked vampire, and he’s dying to know what happens just like we are.

Congratulations to @shaylawiseman, who won the signed Vampire Diaries poster and tote bag that we gave away on Twitter yesterday. We’re planning on giving away something every Monday until the show comes back on March 25 (we’re doing our part to make this hiatus more bearable for you), so keep an eye on our Twitter account to be in with a chance of winning some Vampire Diaries goodies.

The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesAccording to HitFix, The Vampire Diaries is holding steady in the ratings, averaging an audience of 4.21 million viewers for last night’s episode. TV By the Numbers has the half-hour breakdowns.

UPDATE: CW press release, via TV By the Numbers – The CW’s Vampire Diaries sinks its teeth into first place among young women.

The CW’s freshman smash THE VAMPIRE DIARIES won the 8:00-9:00p.m. time period among women 18-34 (3.1/9), females 12-34 (2.8/9) and female teens (2.1/8), according to preliminary live plus same day Nielsen ratings for Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009. VAMPIRE DIARIES ranked second in adults 18-34 (2.3/7) and persons 12-34 (2.1/7), just 0.1 behind #1 CBS in both demos.

Just So You Know interviews Zach Roerig about the show’s success, whether Vicki’s fate is truly open-ended (or way final), and the minor panics that come with each new script (laughed so hard):

JSYK: Congrats on the show’s success. It just got picked up for a full season?

Zach: Yep, a full 22. Now I just have to hope I don’t get killed off before then.

JSYK: Do you think that is a possibility?

Zach: You never know. Every time I read that script and it says, “Matt enters the room and Damon follows” I’m like, ‘Oh my God…’

And finally, a big shout-out to fellow (mega!) fansite, True-Blood.net, who asked Vampire-Diaries.net to contribute to their True Blood-hiatus column, What To Watch. Guess what’s featured? Read what they (and we) have to say about The Vampire Diaries and stake your claim on a chance to win some cool Vampire Diaries goodies! Big thanks to Mel and Liz for asking us to participate (we’re fans of True Blood, too, so it was our pleasure).
