TV Guide Magazine cornered Michael, Candice, and Nina Dobrev at last night’s Young Hollywood Awards to talk about the Vampire Diaries season finale. We’ll highlight the least spoilery comment here, but head over to TV Guide Magazine to read what Candice and Nina have to say. (Candice said “tummy” – dear god, she’s adorable.)
“I think you’re going to be asking, is that person really dead?” said Michael Trevino.
From all the recaps and forum posts I’ve been reading today? Yeah, pretty much. Which makes me realize that the Vampire Diaries writers/producers have potentially pulled off a cliffhanger within a freakin’ cliffhanger. Doesn’t that violate some law of television science?
Katerina Graham is featured in the newest issue of Blag Magazine as part of their “Introducing…” series. Thanks to Bossip.com and Kat herself for the heads up. Click on the images below to see bigger versions on Bossip.com.
And last, but certainly not least, The Televixen’s Vampire Diaries podcast – featuring Melissa (The Televixen), Connie (Blast Magazine), Lucia (Heroine TV), and Lee (From My Side of the Moon) – returned with a recap of Blood Brothers and Isobel. You can stream or download “Camp Naughty Bad Fun” over at TheTelevixen.com and expect a finale podcast soon!
Alright, guys, we’ve fallen behind on news due to website troubles, so expect a few posts tonight as we play catch-up. First up, check out this NBC4 New York video interview with Ian Somerhalder. He talks Vampire Diaries, Lost, and his recent trip down to Louisiana.
Not so long back we posted Katerina Graham’s Lyme disease awareness videos. Now we have videos from Candice Accola and Kayla Ewell. Kayla’s PSAs are the same as Katerina’s, while Candice talks about the effects of Lyme disease on one of her best friends. Please, help to Paint May Lyme Green, and spread the word about Lyme disease.
ABC26 reporter Molly Rosenblatt has more footage from Ian Somerhalder’s awareness efforts in Louisiana. You can see the main interview below (he talks about growing up in Louisiana and Vampire Diaries) and various outtakes over at ABC26.com.
Those of you following Ian Somerhalder on Twitter (@iansomerhalder) know the Gulf oil spill has has hit close to home. Right now he’s in Louisiana helping raise awareness of the disaster’s devastating effects on local wildlife. According to ABC26.com, he’s shooting public service announcements for the St. Tammany Humane Society’s “Partnering for Pelicans” program and the Audobon Aquarium.
“This is the worst way to learn this lesson and I hate that it happened right here in our back yard- but I think we now know that with things like this, we have to start protecting our environment,” says Somerhalder.
Thanks to Christy for letting us know that segments with Ian aired during tonight’s ABC26 5pm news broadcast and another story will be airing tomorrow during the 5pm news hour.
Vampire Diaries Brasil has photos from Ian’s visit with the Humane Society.
You can find more information on helping and/or donating to St. Tammany Humane Society here and the Audobon Aquarium here. For more information on the various ways you can donate or help, visit the National Wildlife Federation’s post: How You Can Help Wildlife Impacted by the BP Oil Spill.
Candice Accola, Katerina Graham and Kayla Ewell have been helping to promote the awareness of Lyme disease, with Candice blogging about her friend contracting the disease, and Katerina and Kayla contributing by making public service announcements videos. We have Katerina’s videos below, and will post Kayla’s when they’re posted.
Lyme disease is an insidious condition contracted through the bite of an infected tick. Anyone can contract it and, if left undiagnosed or misdiagnosed, it can cause severe health problems and even death. Head on over to LearnAboutLyme.com to get caught up on the facts. And don’t forget to check out Lymenaide’s ‘Paint May Lyme Green’ campaign, where you can promote the cause and also donate to it. You can also check out the Lymenaide YouTube channel for other PSAs and Lyme stories.
The Vampire Diaries cast have been named ‘Cast To Watch’ in the 12th Annual Young Hollywood Awards. The ceremony will be held on May 13 (finale day!) at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles. We’ll update with more news on the event when it takes place.
Want to know the beauty secrets behind Elena, Bonnie and Caroline’s looks on the show? What makeup products they use on set? Head of the makeup department for the Vampire Diaries, Beverly Jo Pryor, dishes on their looks along with some general makeup tips of her own over at Examiner.com.
The makeup on the show is excellent.
Beverly: I am so blessed to be working on the show with such wonderful people, that I am really grateful. Everybody, the producers, the writers, all of us that work as a team. Makeup, hair and wardrobe; we all work together. The actors are just phenomenal, they are all just so sweet. I am just so blessed to be on the show. We work long hours sometimes, so it’s so important that we all get along. I love Elena’s character. Not only do I love Elena’s character, I love her. She is just so great and wonderful and so sweet. Just an absolute joy to work with. All of the cast and crew is a joy to work with.
And on the subject of Ms Accola, Candice is helping to spread the awareness of Lyme disease. Helping her out with this are fellow castmates Katerina Graham and Kayla Ewell. The pair have contributed to a PSA on the subject, of which you can see photos on the Lymenaide Facebook gallery. We’ll definitely be posting up more information on that when we have it, but in the meantime you can head on over to the Lymenaide website to discover more about the disease, painting May Lyme Green, and donating to the cause.
In case you’re out of the Twitter loop, the lovely Candice Accola is now officially part of the Vampire Diaries Twitter Club. (Someone make sure she receives her super-cool membership card.) You can find her at @CandiceAccola. Accept no substitutes! While you’re clicking that follow button, make sure to read her guest post on Lymenaide.com: Candice Accola Lends Her Voice to Lyme Awareness.
And finally, Starry Constellation Magazine has posted their interview with Melinda Clarke. She talks about her time on The Vampire Diaries, whether Kelly Donovan will be back, and being a foodie.
Q. Is there anything about the role that you found challenging?
A. Characters that are flawed, you definitely want to make them feel likable, sympathetic, and human. There were a few times I was curious why and how, I mean I still don’t know what possesses this woman to actually make out with her son’s friend. At one point when I was working with the actor who plays Tyler (Michael Trevino), and I thought to myself, “What grade are you supposed to be in?” Of course Michael is in his twenties, but he’s supposed to of course be in high school. At that moment I think we both had to laugh because I thought, “What would possess a woman to do such a thing?” There was nothing particularly challenging, in fact it was a lot of fun.

Who’s finally making his long-awaited debut on Vampire Diaries tonight? <-- THIS GUY. Yes, David Anders fans, the moment has finally arrived. Uncle John Gilbert is crashing your TVD viewing party. Word at the Grill is that he’s trouble – and that’s exactly what we like to hear about a new Mystic Falls arrival. After the epic, gut-wrenching drama of last week (seriously, how incredible was Let the Right One In?), we have a feeling he’s going to be the cherry on top of a giant angst sundae tonight. Lots of questions hanging right now: Will Stefan be able to resist temptation? How will Elena deal with the “new” Stefan? Will she finally come clean with Jeremy? Will Anna forgive Jeremy? Will Matt push Caroline away after last week’s discovery? What has Tyler so angry in the Under Control promo, and who’s going over that balcony? And let’s not forget new BFFs Damon and Alaric – drinking, hanging out.
ONLY FOUR EPISODES LEFT BEFORE THE FINALE ON MAY 13th.
Get your anticipation under control:
@LilMissX tweeted a SUPER-SPOILERY still for a future episode of Vampire Diaries. We think it may be for episode 21, but don’t know for sure. BUT IT IS A SPOILER so don’t say we didn’t warn you. You can check it out in the Gallery.
