The Hollywood Reporter chatted with Julie Plec about tonight’s new episode, All My Children (EP315), and the faces (new and familiar), agendas, and potentially elusive “happy endings” that will carry us through until the Season 3 finale.
THR: In a recent interview, you said there’s going to come a point where a decision needs to be made with Elena and the Salvatore brothers. Will that come before the season’s over or will that be series long?
Plec: The current state of the triangle will definitely come to a head by the end of the season. The most important thing people need to understand now is that “end game” equals end. All conversations about the endgame should be tabled until the end. We’re not going to get out of this season without Elena realizing that she cannot keep fighting her feelings for these two brothers and that there’s a decision that has to be made.

What’s better than a Daniel Gillies Q&A? Being able to hear the words straight from the man’s mouth, that’s what. Huge thanks to The TV Addict for recording the session and be sure to read more over at their website. Watch the video below or watch on YouTube.
Taking a few minutes to chat with press, Daniel shared what he thinks is the reason behind Elijah’s blood-abstinence, what is really going on with Elijah and Elena in those smoldering scenes, and what else he just brings to the increasingly complex role. Daniel also gives some reflective comments on the Original siblings: Klaus, Finn, Kol and Rebekah, and the relationships that Elijah has with each – and what he really thinks of Stefan and Damon.

TV Line caught up with Vampire Diaries guest star Daniel Gillies to discuss the Original family, recent developments following Dangerous Liaisons (EP314), and a few hints at Elijah’s mindset as we head into tomorrow night’s new episode, All My Children (EP315). Obviously the interview is highly spoilery if you’re behind, so proceed with caution! Oh, and then there’s this:
“I’m really eager to look at that kind of unity between them, because it’s exciting for me when I watch the Originals working together,” he adds. “They look like a new television show.” (Yes, he’s aware of the fans’ pleas for an Originals spin-off and says he’ll do “whatever they tell me. I’d love to be a part of something new like that.”)
Yeah, we knew some of you would like that. And if you’re concerned about what Daniel’s new show, Saving Hope, means for his future on The Vampire Diaries, you may be encouraged by what he has to say.

After this week’s episode, All My Children (EP315), The Vampire Diaries will be going on a brief hiatus. We know, we know – major suckage. But the show returns with 1912 (EP316) on Thursday, March 15th – a flashback episode! The February 17th issue of Entertainment Weekly teased that this particular episode will “explain how Damon became the Casanova we know (and love-hate) today” and Julie Plec says:
“We get to see the birth and rebirth of that wicked, wonderful character.”
And to add to the awesome, TV Guide has our first look at 1912, including Damon in a sharp suit and guest star Cassidy Freeman as Sage. Says Freeman:
“[Sage is] really aware of what being a vampire is and owns it,” says Freeman, who says it “has been a dream to play a vampire” and that she was “jumping for joy” when she got the part.
SEE THE EPISODE STILL AND READ MORE FROM CASSIDY FREEMAN AT TV GUIDE.
FYI, book fans: This Sage is completely unrelated to the Sage of the book series. In case you were wondering!

Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev, Joseph Morgan, and Claire Holt were featured on MTV’s 10 on Top yesterday morning, previewing this week’s upcoming (and highly anticipated) episode, Dangerous Liaisons (EP314). (Speaking of, Daniel Gillies tweeted out an AMAZING Original family portrait of sorts last night, courtesy of director/producer Chris Grismer.) It goes without saying, but spoilers through Bringing Out The Dead (EP313), UKers-who-don’t-iTunes-it.

Are you ready for the return of The Vampire Diaries this Thursday? Feel like celebrating by supporting an awesome cause and possibly getting your hands on a unique piece of TVD memorabilia?
This week’s episode, Bringing Out The Dead (EP313), was penned by Al Septien and Turi Meyer and they’ve donated a signed script to an eBay auction raising funds for Thomas Starr King Middle School, a public school based in Los Angeles. The script is signed by Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, Zach Roerig, Candice Accola, Matt Davis, Kat Graham, Joseph Morgan, Persia White…and others. (Watch tomorrow night!) You can also bid on a Season 2 cast and crew hoodie!
From the school’s website:
SCHOOL VISION
We envision a school in which all students will be equipped with meaningful life tools, such as skills in literacy; critical thinking; basic academics; technology; the appreciation of art; democratic values of acceptance, participation and accountability, and the ability to work with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds.
Now is the time for TVD fandom to rally and do what it does best: Support a worthy cause. ALL proceeds from the auction go to helping Thomas Starr King Middle School continue its mission of providing a quality education for its students. That’s an amazing thing for the fandom to be a part of, don’t you think? Please spread the word through Twitter, Facebook, your blog – everywhere!
GO! Head over to eBay and let those bids fly: SIGNED SCRIPT AUCTION & SEASON 2 CAST AND CREW HOODIE AUCTION. Auction ends on Monday, February 6th!

TV Guide has an exclusive on another Gilbert coming to Vampire Diaries – but with a twist: Lindsey Garrett (who you may recognize from the Revenge pilot) will play Samantha Gilbert. In addition to giving a few details on Samantha’s deal, TV Guide also confirms that EP316 will be titled 1912 (flashbacks!) and (presumably) air Thursday, February 23rd.

Entertainment Weekly caught up with Vampire Diaries guest star Torrey DeVitto to talk about the mysterious Dr. Meredith Fell – her motives, her past, and her upcoming interactions with Alaric and Damon. She also gives her perspective on the evolution of Stefan’s character, the expectations of book fans and the book adaptation she would be nervous to see on-screen.
Getting back to Meredith, is there anything you’d like to see her get to do during her time in Mystic Falls?
I just keep going episode by episode because I have no idea where exactly they’re taking her, what’s gonna happen to her, what’s gonna happen next. I just keep riding the ride. Obviously for the sake of Alaric, I would like for things to work out for maybe a millisecond at least, so that he’s not so tragic all over the board. I just hope as the character goes on I make the TV fans happy and also the [Vampire Diaries] book fans happy. I know how that goes. I get so obsessed with books, and turning them into movies and TV shows, you get so stuck on these characters. I know there’s a lot of book fans that love Meredith, and I know she’s a little different on the show, so I just hope I do the book fans justice.
