Hopefully this trailer isn’t all the CW will leave us with until the Vampire Diaries returns on March 25, but we’ll just have to make do for now. Anyone needing therapy due to the hiatus, be sure to send your medical bill to the CW. ;)
UPDATE: The music featured in the trailer is “Electra 33″ by Sophe Lux. You can listen to it for free on Last.fm, or buy the track from Amazon.com in the USA and Amazon.co.uk in the UK.

We’ll get the bad news out of the way with first. Yes, the Vampire Diaries is going on hiatus again. Thursday night’s “Fool Me Once” will be the last episode until March 25, when the series will return with the next new episode, after which it should be running straight through the final eight episodes without a break. For those wondering why the long break, blame those pesky Olympics. Understandably the CW doesn’t want to be pitching brand new episodes against the Olympics because the ratings will suffer. The extended hiatus also allows the CW to take advantage of airing the final episodes during the May sweeps period.
Now on to the good stuff with a bunch of videos. First up, JSYK have a tour video from the set in Atlanta, taking you through the topsy-turvy world that becomes various Mystic Falls locations on our screens.
Speaking of set visits, CW Star’s Annie spoke to Sara Canning on her visit to the set of the Vampire Diaries, and you can watch the video below:
Finally, thanks to Denise for sending us a link to the PIX news feature on the recent Hot Topic cast tour stop in New Jersey (final stop in LA this weekend – is everyone ready for it?):

Thursday night marks the final encore of the excruciatingly long Hiatus from Hell – The Turning Point, which you guys voted your favorite episode of the series so far. As you peruse that laundry list of lingering questions you had after the original airing, rejoice that next week is finally – FINALLY – January 21st. That means Bloodlines (EP11) kicks off the 2010 chapter of The Vampire Diaries. And we’re not saying this is going to happen – so don’t come ’round with the pitchforks if it doesn’t – but who knows? Maybe the CW will have a nice Bloodlines surprise for us tomorrow night. We can hope, right?
On that note – what are YOU looking forward to? (Your most anticipated storyline not listed? Let us know in the comments.)

Tonight on The CW: an encore of the Lexi-ful 162 Candles, 8/7c. That’s important on its own, sure, but it gets better – tonight marks the countdown of weeks (not months) until the return of The Vampire Diaries with brand-spankin’ new episodage. (Yeah, I just made that word up.) In three weeks, we will all officially be off the Stefan Diet (aka Evil Hiatus – thanks, @CW_VampDiaries) and back on the hard stuff. So go stare at those Bloodlines episode stills again and dream for a better tomorrow…in three weeks. YOU CAN DO IT.

Yes, we know -- two months until new Vampire Diaries, but at least there’s one thing to look forward to (other than January!): Vampire Diaries Marathon, December 14-18. Two episodes a night for a solid week, starting at 8pm ET. Check out the promo and let the countdown begin.
Update: The track used in the promo is White Lies “To Lose My Life”.

This week’s edition of Soap Opera Weekly features Vampire Diaries on its cover and a revealing interview with executive producer Julie Plec. She talks about the major events of The Turning Point, changes from book to screen, and why Damon’s every motivation can be traced back to Katherine.
“It’s going to be really interesting exploring that side of his humanity, because it runs so deep and it’s so profound that it actually make him even crazier and more evil than you might think,” warns Plec. “He’s willing to do anything and everything in the name of love!”

And yes, you read that opening paragraph correctly – looks like The Vampire Diaries does indeed start its holiday hiatus after next week (we haven’t seen CW’s official word on this yet, but it’s the first time we’re seeing it in print). That means Nov. 19th’s The Turning Point is the last new episode until January 2010. Keep in mind that the CW launched Vampire Diaries early. We’ll update with an official network release when we have it.
