More cast tidbits about tonight’s all-new (and fist ever holiday) episode of The Vampire Diaries, this time with Candice Accola. First up, she chats with IGN about Caroline’s perspectives on Klaus and Damon:
IGN: For quite awhile now with Klaus, there’s been the fact that he’s got this infatuation with Caroline. Might this play into these new plans?
Accola: Caroline is very well aware that she is able to use herself as — one my lines that I really loved is when Caroline goes, “Why do I always have to be Klaus bait?” And it’s true! It’s funny. Klaus is just enchanted with her. He also knows she’s playing him, but I think he likes that she’s playing him because he’s still a step ahead of her. But it gives him attention and a game that I think a character like him really wants. She’s definitely involved, but she still has an arm’s length between them. She’s definitely not on his side.

And over at MTV’s Hollywood Crush, Candice adds her thoughts on the sire bond and tonight’s much-rumored death:
Candice pointed out that flashbacks have provided a nice opportunity for some characters to return, but not everybody gets to come back for a period episode or a ghostly vision. “Of course, there’s always the potential that when a character leaves, that’s [really] it. The writers have created a world where they can do whatever they want and we have all known it from day one. Our first meeting in Atlanta started off with: ‘This is a vampire show. People will die.’ This is what we got into. It’s just the reality of the show that we’re on.”

It’s going to be a busy week, so here’s the next batch of interviews for your enjoyment. First up, Julie Plec previews Season 4′s return over at The Hollywood Reporter.
THR: Now that Elena’s exploring her new state of being as a vampire, will this force her to open her mind up?
Plec: Elena becoming a vampire, in a way, is an awakening of a person who is about to go through a lot of changes – some for the better and some for the worse, some for the darker and some for the lighter. In all that, she is going to evolve as a person and her relationships are going to evolve accordingly. I can’t say much beyond that other than that it’s a journey for her of an adolescent growing up to a really tragic adulthood. We change a lot in those years and we change what we want out of life; it’s a constant evolution.
TV Guide sits down with Nina Dobrev to talk vampire!Elena, Stefan and Damon, and Season 4 surprises.
Over at Entertainment Weekly, Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder talk about vampire sex. And that’s all we need to say, right?
Zach Roerig chats with MTV’s Hollywood Crush about the State of the Donovan in Season 4 and how last season’s events will affect Matt’s relationship with Elena. (Also, book fans, there’s a nice spoilery gimme in that article that might interest you.)
“Damon definitely blames Matt and doesn’t think that Matt deserves to live,” Zach explained. “Of course Damon, being the rage-filled-fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants kind of guy, comes at Matt. But thankfully Elena is there to defend him.
“Both Salvatore brothers make it clear to Matt that he needs to earn his survival,” he added.
And, finally, the Associated Press sat down with Daniel Gillies to talk Elijah, Elena, and Season 4.

Hollywood Crush talked to Ian Somerhalder at PaleyFest and he told them about how new character Sage affected Damon and about the use of flashbacks in general:
“I think the invaluable thing about these flashbacks is that you inevitably find out what made these characters who they are now. What was the anatomy of the events that lead them up to now?”
