Some of you TVD fans may already be heading back to school or getting ready for college, and you won’t be alone! Hollywood Crush has an interview with Julie Plec with some hints about the upcoming fifth season of The Vampire Diaries. Julie talks about Elena and Caroline’s new dorm room, a little about Whitmore College itself, and what frame of mind the girls are in as the season opens.
“They’re really committed to enjoying life and enjoying college and being college freshmen,” Julie said. It’s a good plan—too bad it’s not going to work. “Of course things will go instantly, terribly wrong, because that’s what always happens, but they remain committed to trying to have a true college experience and it bonds them in a really good way.”
There are also a few hints about Caroline and Elena’s love lives and a new face to watch for!
First up, Alloy Entertainment interviewed Charles Michael Davis, who plays Marcel on The Originals. We love Marcel, so we’re excited at the prospect of learning more about him once the season starts.
Alloy Entertainment: Will we get glimpses into Marcel’s past at all?
Charles Michael Davis: You’ll definitely learn more about how he got to this point in his life. He was a street rat, kind of came from nothing, and he’s crafty. And so I think we’re going to discover firsthand what that experience was like for Marcel — of growing up on the streets of New Orleans and making that turn; of becoming confident and transitioning from an Aladdin life into a leadership role.
Zap2it caught up with The Originals‘ Phoebe Tonkin, who had some things to say about her character’s plotline (spoiler alert for The Originals, EP420) and also wanted to say something about a popular pairing:
“Can I go, first, on the record, and say Team Klaroline,” she says. “Please. I’m on the team. I’m on the team!”
Hollywood Crush interviewed Joseph Morgan and Daniel Gillies on the topic of possible flashbacks on the new series.
Things have been getting pretty intense for Bonnie on The Vampire Diaries, but what about her love life? That’s what Hollywood Crush wants to know, and they went to Kat Graham to get the info.
More cast tidbits about tonight’s all-new (and fist ever holiday) episode of The Vampire Diaries, this time with Candice Accola. First up, she chats with IGN about Caroline’s perspectives on Klaus and Damon:
IGN: For quite awhile now with Klaus, there’s been the fact that he’s got this infatuation with Caroline. Might this play into these new plans?
Accola: Caroline is very well aware that she is able to use herself as — one my lines that I really loved is when Caroline goes, “Why do I always have to be Klaus bait?” And it’s true! It’s funny. Klaus is just enchanted with her. He also knows she’s playing him, but I think he likes that she’s playing him because he’s still a step ahead of her. But it gives him attention and a game that I think a character like him really wants. She’s definitely involved, but she still has an arm’s length between them. She’s definitely not on his side.
And over at MTV’s Hollywood Crush, Candice adds her thoughts on the sire bond and tonight’s much-rumored death:
Candice pointed out that flashbacks have provided a nice opportunity for some characters to return, but not everybody gets to come back for a period episode or a ghostly vision. “Of course, there’s always the potential that when a character leaves, that’s [really] it. The writers have created a world where they can do whatever they want and we have all known it from day one. Our first meeting in Atlanta started off with: ‘This is a vampire show. People will die.’ This is what we got into. It’s just the reality of the show that we’re on.”
It’s going to be a busy week, so here’s the next batch of interviews for your enjoyment. First up, Julie Plec previews Season 4’s return over at The Hollywood Reporter.
THR: Now that Elena’s exploring her new state of being as a vampire, will this force her to open her mind up?
Plec: Elena becoming a vampire, in a way, is an awakening of a person who is about to go through a lot of changes – some for the better and some for the worse, some for the darker and some for the lighter. In all that, she is going to evolve as a person and her relationships are going to evolve accordingly. I can’t say much beyond that other than that it’s a journey for her of an adolescent growing up to a really tragic adulthood. We change a lot in those years and we change what we want out of life; it’s a constant evolution.
TV Guide sits down with Nina Dobrev to talk vampire!Elena, Stefan and Damon, and Season 4 surprises.
Over at Entertainment Weekly, Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder talk about vampire sex. And that’s all we need to say, right?
Zach Roerig chats with MTV’s Hollywood Crush about the State of the Donovan in Season 4 and how last season’s events will affect Matt’s relationship with Elena. (Also, book fans, there’s a nice spoilery gimme in that article that might interest you.)
“Damon definitely blames Matt and doesn’t think that Matt deserves to live,” Zach explained. “Of course Damon, being the rage-filled-fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants kind of guy, comes at Matt. But thankfully Elena is there to defend him.
“Both Salvatore brothers make it clear to Matt that he needs to earn his survival,” he added.
And, finally, the Associated Press sat down with Daniel Gillies to talk Elijah, Elena, and Season 4.
MTV‘s Hollywood Crush blog talked to Nina Dobrev at PaleyFest, and she told them a bit about the season finale – namely, that you’ll “laugh and cry. It’s going to be pretty epic.”
Hollywood Crush caught up with Candice Accola at PaleyFest, and asked her about what’s going on with Caroline these days. How is she handling having the Originals in town? What’s her worldview like these days? Spoilers for everything up through All My Children (EP315), and a few hints about things to come.
Hollywood Crush talked to Ian Somerhalder at PaleyFest and he told them about how new character Sage affected Damon and about the use of flashbacks in general:
“I think the invaluable thing about these flashbacks is that you inevitably find out what made these characters who they are now. What was the anatomy of the events that lead them up to now?”
Watch the video to find out how Sage helped make Damon who he is today:
Hollywood Crush caught up with Nina Dobrev over the weekend and asked her about what’s happening with Elena and the various vampires of Mystic Falls. Nina talks a little bit about where Elena is at with the Salvatores right now, comments on Elena and Elijah (that’s Elijah, not Ethan, MTV!) and admits that the changes in Klaus’s character have caught her by surprise. Spoiler alert for All My Children (EP315).
It’s no secret that Paul Wesley loves playing the dark side, and from the sound of this interview, he’s not too eager to go back to being good. Hollywood Crush caught up with Paul at the 2011 Scream Awards and asked for his thoughts on Stefan’s possible redemption.
