Alaric fans, rejoice! The Hollywood Reporter caught up with Matt Davis recently and got him to dish a bit on where Alaric’s at as Season 3 begins. Looks like that couch at the Gilbert House has been getting a lot of use. Matt also mentions a big ‘mystery character’ who will be showing up in a few weeks. Who do you think it will be? The Hollywood Reporter caught up with Nina Dobrev on last night’s CW Premiere Party red carpet and she talks Elena, her evolving relationship with Stefan and Damon, and – oh, yes – Katherine. As for what to expect from Elena this season:
“She’s no longer letting the men in her life dictate what happens. She’s going to rise up and become a woman and fight,” Dobrev says.

Julie Plec may be a master of keeping secrets, but she’s got a lot to tell us (including some hope for Elijah fans!) in this interview from KSite TV. We’ve all been speculating about what Ripper Stefan has been up to, and it looks like we’re not alone.
How did he and Klaus spend their summer vacation?
I think that Klaus and Stefan have been kicking their way through the southwestern states of America, one dive bar at a time.
They’ve been on a little bit of a journey, and we’ll learn a little bit about that. What they’ve been up to. What Klaus wants. Why he wants Stefan to do it with him. And that’s going to be part of the first couple of episodes.
Let’s hope Klaus and Stefan are easier on bartenders than Damon, because otherwise there’s going to be a lot of thirsty people in those southwestern states! Julie also has some tidbits for us about Caroline and Tyler, Jeremy’s ghostly girlfriends and what it is that makes Klaus tick.

The Hollywood Reporter has yet another Vampire Diaries-related interview in anticipation of Comic Con in San Diego next week. This time Nina Dobrev steps up to the plate to talk about her experience at the event so far, including who she has been able to meet, what not to do at a panel, what she’d be willing to wait in line for, and talks a bit about the upcoming season of Vampire Diaries.
THR: How will the originals impact everyone next season on The Vampire Diaries?
Dobrev: The originals have come in and now that stuff has gone to the dark side. The whole chemistry of the show is shifting and it’s going be changing the relationships between people who previously bonded. Now that Jenna is gone and Alaric is single and that Elena and Jeremy don’t have parental figures, if you will, it will be interesting to see who rises to the occasion. Everything has shifted, and everything is off-balance, so everyone is going to have to compensate in different ways.

TV Guide Magazine‘s William Keck has a few interesting Season 3 teases courtesy of Julie Plec. Unlike the Season 2 premiere, which picked up right where the Season 1 finale left off, Season 3 will jump forward to a rather significant event:
“There will be a small time jump [from where last season ended] as we celebrate Elena’s birthday,” says Plec. “But as is the pattern in Mystic Falls, the event never reaches its climax.” Elena will now be a senior in high school, but don’t bank on a season-ending graduation.
Now that she’s 18, “Elena and Jeremy technically don’t need a parent living in their house [following Aunt Jenna's death],” says Plec. “She will be taking care of herself.”
Julie also touches on the relationship between Elena and Damon, and a new character from Stefan’s ripper days. READ MORE AT TV GUIDE MAGAZINE.
