Everyone knows Katerina Graham has been über-busy during the Vampire Diaries filming hiatus. Not only did she drop her debut single, “Sassy,” on iTunes, but she just wrapped shooting Honey 2, where she takes over leading lady duties from Jessica Alba. Yesterday, Kat tweeted that she had read the script for Season 2′s premiere episode, and she chatted with New York Post’s Pop Wrap about what’s in store.
PW: And I would imagine [Bonnie's] powers will only continue to grow?
Kat: Oh yea, she’s going to become even stronger. But it’s important she stay vulnerable too. You don’t want someone to raise hell with no motivation behind it. You can never forget the loss of a loved one and I don’t think she’ll ever get over losing her grams. That was her rock to this world. She wouldn’t do anything simply out of a hate for vampires. I don’t think she could ever justify that.
Ian Somerhalder sat down with GQ UK while in London last month and they were kind enough to capture it on video. Ian discusses Vampire Diaries Season 2, Damon, Cary Grant, Mick Jagger (and Keith Richards!), fans, wine, The Host casting rumors, Lost, and fashion.
Some of you were a little disappointed with the earlier spoilers for season two that we posted. Hopefully this little teaser from executive producer Julie Plec via Keck’s Exclusives will get you all wondering about what’s coming up on the Vampire Diaries:
“Our big new addition is Mason Lockwood, the mayor’s much younger and cooler brother, who has been estranged from the family,” says executive producer Julie Plec. “His return introduces a lot of questions about what is so special about that creepy Lockwood family.”
We’ll let you know as soon as we hear anything about casting. In the meantime, speculate in the comments with who you think he is, why he’s been estranged, and what he plans to do in Mystic Falls…
Ian Somerhalder is looking to salvage something positive from the Gulf oil spill crisis, and hopes that it will be the wake up call that the world needs to make it a priority to search for greener energy sources. Speaking with Zap2It’s Carina MacKenzie, Ian revealed that the Vampire Diaries set will be doing its bit to green up within the entertainment industry:
“It takes a lot of power to run a movie set. We go through a lot of fuel,” Somerhalder says. “It’s harmful, and we can start changing that a little bit. We can get rid of these noisy, stinky, disgusting gas generators. There’s going to be a lot of thought that goes into this revolution that’s going to happen.”
“We’re dealing with California Transportation Department, we’re dealing with the Department of Defense, we’re dealing with disaster relief — but we’re also dealing with the entertainment industry. We’ll be taking major productions green, like big concerts and music festivals. Greening the ‘Vampire Diaries’ set is a priority for me, which we’re going to be doing this year.”
Thanks to Paul Wesley Source and Adoring Nina Dobrev, we’ve got some SAG Portraits of Paul and Nina for you to take a look at. We’ve got a couple below, and you can see the rest of each of them over on the respective websites.
Carina MacKenzie over at Zap2It has more from Ian Somerhalder (and other CW stars) on the Gulf oil disaster and the frustration over Hollywood’s silence on the subject:
When we spoke to Somerhalder a month ago, he was nearly in tears as he described the damage to his home. Now, after the Larry King telethon, he’s more hopeful, repeating that this disaster is the “game-changer” that will force our country to examine our excessive use of dirty energy.
“Look, it’s a shame that we had to destroy an entire ecosystem, but hopefully we can move forward in the right direction. People spoke up [at the telethon], and it was a really, really powerful moment, a really moving thing for me, personally. It was unbelievably obvious that people care. The passion with which people were voicing their discontent – I was overwhelmed,” he says.
And finally, Candice Accola talks to The Global Town Hall about fitness, beauty, diet and Lyme Disease, and also mentions to Popsugar on the NYLON red carpet that she wouldn’t mind Alexander Skarsgård appearing on the Vampire Diaries. Can’t say we’d mind, either, and we’re sure that book fans can think of a certain character he’d be excellent as. ;)
As you read this, CNN’s Larry King Live is broadcasting Disaster in the Gulf: How You Can Help – a two-hour telethon for Gulf Oil Spill disaster relief airing from 8-10pm ET – and Zap2It’s Carina MacKenzie caught up with Ian Somerhalder to discuss how important this event is to raising funds and awareness. According to Nina Dobrev, Ian will be reporting live during the telethon. Please read the article to learn how you can donate to the cause and tune in to CNN right now.
You can participate three ways: by phone (the line for tonight’s telethon is 1-800-491-GULF and you can call between 8-10pm ET to donate), via the web, and via Twitter. You can also help awareness on Twitter by adding the #CNNHelpGulf hashtag. More info on CNN.com.
READ MORE AT ZAP2IT. MacKenzie will have a more in-depth piece up on Wednesday.
Ian Somerhalder returned to the Gulf Coast this week to continue raising awareness about the oil spill that has devastated his home state. E!Online has an exclusive video interview and a full report with Ian will air on E!News tonight at 7 & 11:30 p.m. And, as we tweeted yesterday, Ian revealed to WGNO ABC26 that Larry King had been in touch and a telethon is planned for Monday, June 21st on CNN.
Katerina Graham stopped by The VRO tonight to talk Vampire Diaries, Bonnie Bennett, her music, and filming her upcoming feature, Honey 2.
A brief rundown of topics touched on:
- Katerina talks about her original audition for Bonnie (wearing a red beret!).
- How she felt something was “different” after shooting the pilot (she’d shot five pilots before landing the part of Bonnie).
- The closeness of the cast, her favorite episodes of Season 1 (Haunted and Founder’s Day, though she liked Children of the Damned as well).
- Her most difficult scene to shoot (and the very personal story behind it).
- She’d love for Bonnie to have more scenes with Ian Somerhalder and Michael Trevino.
- What she pulls from the books in regards to her character.
- Who she would ‘ship with Bonnie (and how Bonnie wouldn’t like it).
- Her fashion influences.
- Her research into witchcraft and the Salem Witch Trials (and feedback she’s gotten from real witches).
- What she doesn’t want to see happen with Bonnie.
- The relationship between Bonnie and Stefan – and how Damon has come between them.
- And, of course, the fans.
It’s just a Michael Trevino kind of evening, right? Thanks to the folks at Breakout Magazine for giving us the heads up on their interview with Michael, including a nice, lengthy video and an exclusive photo shoot. (We know a few of you have been waiting ever-so-patiently.) Mr. Trevino discusses everything from his career and Vampire Diaries to what he would and wouldn’t do in certain situations and what kind of girl he’s looking for. Most importantly, he has some very intriguing things to say about Tyler in Season 2. (Ugh, WHY IS SEPTEMBER SO FAR AWAY?!)
“It’s frustrating,” (waiting for his storyline to develop) Michael says. “You have to be patient, but then you understand that we have huge ensemble cast, we have to tell a story. There’s a lot that’s gonna happen in Season 2, there’s a lot of surprises coming up, there’s gonna be a lot more Tyler Lockwood coming around.”
As promised, The 5:19 Show has uploaded their Vampire Diaries cast interview to the BBC Switch YouTube, so now you can get two concentrated bursts of Paul Wesley, Nina Dobrev, and Ian Somerhalder being silly. (5:19 tells us it took a little longer than expected to explain the fan question game, so they were only able to get a few in. But it’s still very entertaining.)
And thanks to @SarahDeeee for the heads up on this morning’s Sara Canning radio interview on CHUM-FM’s Roger, Darren & Marilyn show (based in Toronto). She talks Vampire Diaries and her starring role in the film Black Field. You can listen to the interview in full on their website (chose the RDM tab, click the Friday, June 11th link, and Sara begins at the 34:45 mark).
