Digital Spy’s Tube Talk caught up with Paul Wesley and Nina Dobrev at the 2010 Monte Carlo Television Festival – these are probably the best interviews we’ve seen come out of this particular event. Bravo for journalists who research their subject beforehand and ask new and/or interesting questions, or at least have fun with it. Watch both videos over at Tube Talk.
We’re crossing our fingers that the folks over at The 5:19 Show will post more of their Vampire Diaries cast interview to YouTube, but you can see what made it to air over on the official BBC Switch website. There are TVD snippets scattered throughout (including an outtake of Paul and Ian quoting Anchorman). We always like the interviews where the cast is just allowed to go because the results are often hilarious, as you will see. (“We’ll be your Dad” – AJ’s facial expression says it all.) Watch the entire show.
We tweeted this yesterday afternoon but in case you missed it: About.com caught up with Steven R. McQueen at The Karate Kid premiere and he gives some hints about what Vampire Diaries can expect from Jeremy in the upcoming season (and his upcoming film Piranha 3D). Watch the entire video at About.com. (Oh, Jeremy.)
And thanks to Vampire Diaries France for the heads up on French TV channel LCI’s lengthy sitdown with Paul Wesley, Nina Dobrev, and Ian Somerhalder. Obviously the questions and panelist commentary are in French, but the trio’s answers are in English, so those of you who don’t speak/understand French can still glean what’s being said. Vampire Diaries starts at the 28:30 mark. Watch the video. UPDATE: A huuuuuuge thanks to Chefnem for doing a rough translation of this interview!
Remember those questions fans were asked to help out with last week for the 5:19 Show? First of all, they’d like to thank all the fans who helped out by answering the questions for them. Second, you’ll be pleased to know that the interview with Nina, Paul and Ian airs tonight. Fans should head on over to the 5:19 Show’s website at, er, 5:19pm tonight to watch the show. And fear not, international fans. The show will be uploaded to the BBC Switch YouTube channel after it’s aired, so you’ll all get to see it too. We’ll update the information here when it’s available.
Okay, so second ‘half’ of the press conference video earlier was a little inaccurate. ;) Vampire Diaries France and CineTVBuzz have added the final part of the Vampire Diaries press conference at the 2010 Monte Carlo Television Festival. If you missed them, check out the first video and second video. Topics discussed are their favourite vampires and the portrayal of vampires on the screen, the oil spill crisis in Louisiana, quelling the rumours of a Gossip Girl crossover, tales of encounters with fans and how lucky they consider themselves to have them, and why they think their characters are the coolest on the show.
Nina Dobrev graces the cover of the June 2010 issue of Jezebel, Atlanta’s “premiere lifestyle magazine.” There are two new photos accompanying the interview online, one of which you can see here and the other on Jezebel’s homepage. As for the interview itself, Nina discusses her career so far, how she landed the role of Elena on The Vampire Diaries, and the Atlanta hotspots she loves.
JEZ: Which do you enjoy more, being fought over by two hunky vampires or getting to play two different roles?
ND: I love getting to play two roles, because one is such a sweet, nice girl and the other is this crazy, conniving, narcissistic vampire killer. That’s an opportunity that rarely happens on one show. I’ve played nice girls before–Mia Jones of “Degrassi” was a nice girl–but Katherine has an edge to her that I haven’t had a chance to play before, so it’s a challenge that keeps things fresh and exciting.
Speaking of Ms. Dobrev, she will be a presenter at the 2010 MuchMusic Video Awards on Sunday, June 20th, 9pm ET.
Premiere Magazine has a brief sit down chat with Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder about what makes vampires sexy.
And here’s another Tueurs en Séries video recap featuring Nina talking about what Vampire Diaries is versus what Vampire Diaries isn’t (cough, Twilight), and Ian chimes in on Elena’s brother dilemma. Watch the video over on Allocine.com – starts at 1:35.
Thanks to @xoElvire for the heads up!
Thanks to Denise for letting us know The Mirror also has a video interview with Paul Wesley, accompanying yesterday’s interview with Ian Somerhalder (which has been updated with a direct link to the video – oops, sorry, guys!). Paul discusses the love between Stefan and Elena, his camaraderie with Ian Somerhalder, and sex in The Vampire Diaries. No embed, but you can watch the entire thing over on The Mirror.
And huge thanks to Vampire Diaries France and CineTVBuzz for posting up the second half of the Vampire Diaries press conference at the 2010 Monte Carlo Television Festival. (The first 10 minutes were posted last night.) Nina Dobrev talks about playing both Elena and Katherine, and the trio discuss which decades they’d like to visit in flashbacks, the vampire phenomenon and what makes Vampire Diaries unique, their best and worst memories on the set, being thankful, what makes the show universally appealing, mythology and the vampire as metaphor.
The lovely folks at Vampire Diaries France and CineTVBuzz have posted the first 10 minutes of the Vampire Diaries press conference at the 2010 Monte Carlo Television Festival. They plan on having the rest up soon so keep your eyes peeled. Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, and Ian Somerhalder discuss everything from season 2 speculation (you saw this bit in CineTVBuzz’s video that we posted earlier), the fans and social media awareness, Lost, finding “good” work as actors, and flashbacks.
Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, and Ian Somerhalder continued lounging on the beaches of Monaco today, and by lounging on beaches we of course mean posing for more photographs! The trio attended a photocall at the Monte Carlo Television Festival and you can check out some of the photos below and see the rest over at DayLife.
Thanks Vampire Diaries France for letting us know that CineTVBuzz has a brief video via Monte Carlo of Paul, Nina, and Ian talking TVD season 2 – and, as Paul admits, it’s all pure speculation on their part, since they know as much as the fans do about what’s coming next. Check out the video below:
And, finally, thanks to @CW_VampDiaries for pointing out and translating this SeriesLive.com interview with Paul.
“The first season is a wrap now and the series has earned the respect of both the industry and the fans, and this is what matters the most. This is a good pressure, a more creative one.”
A big thank you to I Heart Vampire Diaries for the heads up on this video interview with Ian Somerhalder at UK site The Mirror. He talks about the fans, his relationship with Paul Wesley, and how long he thinks Vampire Diaries should stick around. No embed (yet) so watch the video over at Mirror.co.uk.
Vampire Diaries had a bang-up showing in Entertainment Weekly’s TV Series Finale Awards readers’ poll, placing in the Best Death, Best Kiss, Best Non-Romantic Cliffhanger, Single Most Clever Twist, Spookiest Image, and Most Rewound Moment categories. You can check out which moments placed where (spoilers!) over at EW.com. Thanks to @gretchi!
