TV Guide’s William Keck caught up with Vampire Diaries producers Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec at Comic Con and they spill a lot about what they’re keeping in mind as they delve into Season 2. So for everyone who’s wondered about Bonnie’s parents, Caroline’s dad, those mortality issues, and exactly how connected Tyler will be to a full moon… Well, this is a good read. They’re thinking about this stuff, too.
(Also – may have swooned a bit over the “wall of death” mention. Red and I joke about this all the time.)
TV Guide Magazine: What about another Halloween episode?
Williamson: We’re not looking at the show as if a whole year has passed, but we will have an episode timed to Halloween, which will be a huge masquerade ball that we’re now thinking of as a possible two-parter. S–t will hit the fan.
Because the last Halloween bash ended so well!
Don’t worry, we’re still adding all links to the big Comic Con post, but TV.com caught up with the Vampire Diaries folk (all of ‘em! together!) just before their WB booth signing and talked the Vampire Diaries books, anti-heroes, villains, and hints at what’s in store for Season 2.
Also, TV.com NOW Awards update (sorry, there’s been so much info) – in addition to Ian snagging Best New Bad Guy, Vampire Diaries won Editor’s Choice for Best Show and Paul won Sexiest Vampire. (HA! at his reaction.)
The TV Guide Vampire Diaries Comic Con special seems to be a pretty hot commodity. It took Vee a good deal of scouring to find one to scan for the site. There are some teaser images below (including the ‘family tree’, which is more a character connections guide), and we have the rest up in our gallery for you to read.
In addition to the sneak peek at her interview with Ian Somerhalder, Zap2It‘s Carina MacKenzie also has a sneak preview of her interview with Katerina Graham. Kat talks about snagging the lead in Honey 2, appearing in Justin Bieber’s Somebody to Love video, and her own brand new single, Sassy.
As we mentioned last week, Zap2It‘s Carina MacKenzie was on the Vampire Diaries set this week tweeting up a storm and dropping hints at the awesomeness that is to come in the Season 2 premiere. The bulk of her interviews won’t post until closer to September 9th (when the show returns), but she’s posted a brief preview from her video interview with Ian Somerhalder.
The subject isn’t Vampire Diaries, but the Gulf Oil Spill disaster. As many of you know, MacKenzie has interviewed Ian a few times about his efforts on the Gulf coast, and it just so happens that news of BP capping the leak broke while she was in Atlanta.
“I feel relieved,” he said. “I’ve felt physically sick about this for months now, literally, so even just a small amount of relief is a powerful feeling.”
Starry Constellation Magazine recently spoke with Katerina Graham about her new single, “Sassy,” and upcoming film Honey 2. And then at the very end of the interview, Kat offers up a Bonnie tidbit that’s going to raise a few Vampire Diaries fan eyebrows.
Q. With shooting season two of “Vampire Diaries,” what can you tease us about what’s going to happen with Bonnie?
A. I can’t talk about the other characters because I don’t want to piss anyone off but Bonnie is definitely pretty fearless in the new one. If there was a promise to anyone in the last episode, she keeps it. Let’s just say that. She is not one to F with right now, if I didn’t know her, I’d steer clear.
We will select the sweet 16 questions submitted. This is your chance as a fan to ask Kat anything about her career, including and focusing on her music/fashion interests. Please include your twitter name if you have one or name you want included as we will make sure your name is posted. Email questions to email@example.com.
And in case you’re keeping track, we now have (public) confirmation that the cast resumes production in Atlanta this coming Tuesday, July 13th - thanks to Carina MacKenzie at Zap2It. (That also happens to be Steven R. McQueen’s birthday, so we hope the cake holds up in the heat.) If you’re on Twitter, you know the crew’s been in prep for a while and the cast has been filtering back for the past week, so be on the look out for some tweets/photos from the set.
Speaking of Ms. Carina – she’s going to be hanging out on the Vampire Diaries set next week and will likely be tweeting up a storm. Don’t miss out on her coverage – follow her at @cadlymack. Also, she’s funny and shares our undying love for Neko Case, in case you need additional motivation.
Everyone knows Katerina Graham has been über-busy during the Vampire Diaries filming hiatus. Not only did she drop her debut single, “Sassy,” on iTunes, but she just wrapped shooting Honey 2, where she takes over leading lady duties from Jessica Alba. Yesterday, Kat tweeted that she had read the script for Season 2′s premiere episode, and she chatted with New York Post’s Pop Wrap about what’s in store.
PW: And I would imagine [Bonnie's] powers will only continue to grow?
Kat: Oh yea, she’s going to become even stronger. But it’s important she stay vulnerable too. You don’t want someone to raise hell with no motivation behind it. You can never forget the loss of a loved one and I don’t think she’ll ever get over losing her grams. That was her rock to this world. She wouldn’t do anything simply out of a hate for vampires. I don’t think she could ever justify that.
Ian Somerhalder sat down with GQ UK while in London last month and they were kind enough to capture it on video. Ian discusses Vampire Diaries Season 2, Damon, Cary Grant, Mick Jagger (and Keith Richards!), fans, wine, The Host casting rumors, Lost, and fashion.
Some of you were a little disappointed with the earlier spoilers for season two that we posted. Hopefully this little teaser from executive producer Julie Plec via Keck’s Exclusives will get you all wondering about what’s coming up on the Vampire Diaries:
“Our big new addition is Mason Lockwood, the mayor’s much younger and cooler brother, who has been estranged from the family,” says executive producer Julie Plec. “His return introduces a lot of questions about what is so special about that creepy Lockwood family.”
We’ll let you know as soon as we hear anything about casting. In the meantime, speculate in the comments with who you think he is, why he’s been estranged, and what he plans to do in Mystic Falls…
Ian Somerhalder is looking to salvage something positive from the Gulf oil spill crisis, and hopes that it will be the wake up call that the world needs to make it a priority to search for greener energy sources. Speaking with Zap2It’s Carina MacKenzie, Ian revealed that the Vampire Diaries set will be doing its bit to green up within the entertainment industry:
“It takes a lot of power to run a movie set. We go through a lot of fuel,” Somerhalder says. “It’s harmful, and we can start changing that a little bit. We can get rid of these noisy, stinky, disgusting gas generators. There’s going to be a lot of thought that goes into this revolution that’s going to happen.”
“We’re dealing with California Transportation Department, we’re dealing with the Department of Defense, we’re dealing with disaster relief — but we’re also dealing with the entertainment industry. We’ll be taking major productions green, like big concerts and music festivals. Greening the ‘Vampire Diaries’ set is a priority for me, which we’re going to be doing this year.”
Thanks to Paul Wesley Source and Adoring Nina Dobrev, we’ve got some SAG Portraits of Paul and Nina for you to take a look at. We’ve got a couple below, and you can see the rest of each of them over on the respective websites.
Carina MacKenzie over at Zap2It has more from Ian Somerhalder (and other CW stars) on the Gulf oil disaster and the frustration over Hollywood’s silence on the subject:
When we spoke to Somerhalder a month ago, he was nearly in tears as he described the damage to his home. Now, after the Larry King telethon, he’s more hopeful, repeating that this disaster is the “game-changer” that will force our country to examine our excessive use of dirty energy.
“Look, it’s a shame that we had to destroy an entire ecosystem, but hopefully we can move forward in the right direction. People spoke up [at the telethon], and it was a really, really powerful moment, a really moving thing for me, personally. It was unbelievably obvious that people care. The passion with which people were voicing their discontent – I was overwhelmed,” he says.
And finally, Candice Accola talks to The Global Town Hall about fitness, beauty, diet and Lyme Disease, and also mentions to Popsugar on the NYLON red carpet that she wouldn’t mind Alexander Skarsgård appearing on the Vampire Diaries. Can’t say we’d mind, either, and we’re sure that book fans can think of a certain character he’d be excellent as. ;)
