TV Fanatic has a chat with Daniel Gillies about Vampire Diaries and Elijah, working with the “tough” Nina Dobrev, his thoughts on Elena, Klaus (nice one with the sneaky question about Morgan, TVF), Isobel, and Damon, and are there plans for Jenna?
Any spoilers for the rest of the season?
Damon has been pissing me off lately, so I’ll give him a slap on the wrist if he gets too close. It’s funny; I’m talking as Elijah now. Elena is going to be in danger if they don’t do what I decree must be done. Also, I like the look of the Jenna girl, she looks sweet. I’ll go hang out with her for a while, she’s cute.

TV Guide Magazine has a brief conversation with guest star Mia Kirshner about what viewers can expect when Isobel waltzes into Mystic Falls during tonight’s episode of The Vampire Diaries. Executive producer Julie Plec also gives insight into the character’s motivations.
“Isobel resents it, but you can see that her human emotions haunt her,” says Kirshner. “She’s not the most stable mother, but her attitude toward her daughter turns out to be very surprising in the end.” We just hope it doesn’t suck for Elena.

Webclips for Isobel have hit YouTube. In the first, Caroline confronts Bonnie about Elena while Alaric, Stefan, Damon and Elena have a pow wow. In the second, Elena finally comes face to face with her birth mother.

As the now-confirmed title for episode 21 of the Vampire Diaries suggests, there’s no hiding the fact that we’re finally going to learn more about Elena’s mysterious and undead mother. An epic event for viewers, and even more epic for both Alaric and Elena. Also, from the looks of things, we’re going to see some more interaction between the dynamic duo of Alaric and Damon (by all accounts their interaction in “Let the Right One In” last week went down a storm with fans). Courtesy of KryptonSite, you can get a glimpse of things to come with some episode stills for “Isobel”.
UPDATE: Stills now uploaded in our Gallery. We’re only showcasing a few here because they are very spoilery.

All this also means that there’s just one episode left to post official stills for, the season finale. It’s both exciting and kind of sad at the same time.

First up, Mystic Falls’ hottest teacher and eligible bachelor, Alaric Saltzman, is on Twitter. Zach Roerig posted to let the cat out of the bag that Matt Davis can be found at @ErnestoRiley. Everyone pay him a warm welcome and see if we can’t entice him to tweet more.
We’ve got a few miscellaneous – and pretty! – Vampire Diaries images that have been sent our way today, so we thought it would be easiest to throw them all together in the same post.

For those of you who were dying for spoilers after the screening of “A Few Good Men” at Paley this weekend, TV Guide’s Megabuzz has some teasers for events that will be coming up in the Vampire Diaries.
Did Damon really kill Elena’s birth mother on The Vampire Diaries? I can’t help but feel like there’s more to this story. — Taryn
MICKEY: Well, yeah. When Diaries returns on March 25, we’ll learn once and for all who killed Isobel, and why. But you might be more interested in another shocking murder that takes place this spring. Don’t grieve too much for the victim; he or she will be miraculously brought back to life shortly thereafter. (For the record, we aren’t talking about a vampire “turning” here — he or she will really be alive again.)
Thanks to KryptonSite for confirming the title of episode 16: There Goes the Neighborhood.
Jen over at Nina Dobrev Fan has some scans of Nina Dobrev and Candice Accola, who were featured in NYLON Guys back in December, and she’s been awesome enough to share them with us.

And Seventeen has an interview with Katerina Graham up on their website.
17: How are you most like Bonnie?
KG: I’m really like Bonnie in terms of the relationship she has with her friends. She’s protective over her friend Elena, and the real-life relationship between Nina [Dobrev] and myself is the same; I would do anything for her, we’re really close. Bonnie is caring, and she’s compassionate, and she’s very much like me in that way.

MTV’s Hollywood Crush has an ever-so-rare chat with Steven R. McQueen about what’s in store for Jeremy on upcoming episodes of The Vampire Diaries. He has wonderful things to say about Malese Jow, who will be guest starring as Anna (J’s potential love interest?), calling her “very talented and very sweet.”
And we know from reading your comments in the blog and posts in the forum that what Damon did to Jeremy is a huge, HUGE point of interest, and you’ll be happy to know Steven plays a bit coy on that front (spoilery!):
It was way back in 2009, but you may recall that earlier in the season, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) pulled his special vampire brainwash-y powers out to erase Jeremy’s memory of his girlfriend Vicki’s death. The catch is, it’s not exactly clear what Damon did. “That’s something that’s going to unfold itself a little later in the series,” Steven said. “[Damon] did erase my pain and my grief and such, but I’m not sure what I can reveal of just how much he shut out of my memory — and if he put anything in there.” (Dun Dun Dun… )
And @LilMissX is being very, very good to Vampire Diaries fans in anticipation of the show’s return this Thursday. Check out our first look at Mia Kirshner as Isobel, Alaric’s wife, in this still (we know Isobel is set to debut in Bloodlines, but we’re not 100% positive that’s what the still is from) with Matt Davis (Alaric):

UPDATE: Thanks to KryptonSite, we now know the Alaric/Isobel still is from an upcoming episode called A Few Good Men.
According to this ITV2 press release, it looks like UKers can look forward to a Tuesday, February 2nd debut for The Vampire Diaries. And it gets better: The channel will be kicking off with a 9-11 p.m. double header of the pilot and Night of the Comet. Smart move, we say.
Speaking of air dates: The Vampire Diaries kicks off in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria tomorrow night! Though I suppose it’s already January 20th in your neck of the woods, so… Enjoy the show!
With all of the TVD cast appearances in magazines lately, we thought you might want to check out Katerina Graham pontificating on the particulars of her beauty bag in this Seventeen video, and Nina Dobrev Fan has nice, watermark-free scans from Nina’s very pink fashion spread in SELF.

We can finally hit back against those crazy fake synopses for “Bloodlines” that have been knocking around (a long-lost Salvatore sister? Elena a vampire in a hit-and-run turning? Katherine being released and turning Mystic Falls into a buffet with Damon? Nuh uh). The official synopsis has finally been released by the CW. Highlight/mouseover to reveal the synopsis.
STEFAN UNCOVERS A STARTLING CLUE TO THE PAST
Damon takes a trip to Georgia, where he surprises an old flame, Bree and enlists her help to figure out how to open the tomb. In the process, Damon comes face to face with someone who is determined to make him pay for past wrongs. Stefan opens up to Grams in his effort to help Bonnie overcome her fears and accept her powers. While researching his history paper in the public library, Jeremy meets a cute-but-geeky girl named Anna who has her own theories on the folklore of Mystic Falls. When Damon returns from Georgia, Stefan is waiting with news that will change their world.
Thanks to SpoilerTV for the heads up.
The Vampire Diaries premieres in South Africa on the Vuzu channel in February, and you can see the trailer below:
Finally, ClevverTV has a video spot all about Alaric’s wife, Isobel (though that part about Alaric is only speculation – it hasn’t been revealed whether he’s a vampire or not). It’s a little spoilery in a deductive kind of way, so spoilerphobes should steer clear.
Thanks for the video links, Denise!

Wow. The January 21st episode of the Vampire Diaries is chock full of new faces – Noah, Lee, Bree, and now Isobel. According to the Ausiello Files Mia Kirshner has joined the cast as Alaric’s “sweet-yet-dangerous” wife, Isobel, and will make her debut in “Bloodlines”. Mia has appeared in The L Word, 24, and Paul Wesley fans will recognise her as his older sister, Ruby Cates, from Wolf Lake.
Is it January yet?
UPDATE: More (spoilery!) information over at E! Online.
UPDATE2: The LA Times has some more insight into Kirshner’s “last-minute casting” as well.
