Mystic Falls is playing host to another party tonight, this time a rather luscious-looking Masquerade Ball at the Lockwood mansion. Of course, this is Mystic Falls, and when do public events ever go without some kind of supernatural hitch in this town? With Katherine setting Plan J section 2 (we think… it’s easy to lose track), things are guaranteed to be interesting, if not lethal.

This week we have two more sets of the Vampire Diaries book series by L.J. Smith to give away, courtesy of ITV2. Four books in each pack (that’s all of the books so far – The Awakening through to Shadow Souls) with the TV series tie-in covers. Same deal as previous weeks – we’ll be awarding one prize pack to the person with the tweet about the episode we like the most (remember your #tvduk hashtag!) and another prize pack after Memory Lane airs to the winner of a trivia question based on the episode (no hashtag necessary). You must be a resident of the United Kingdom to enter – sorry international fans. You can follow us on Twitter at @tvdnews, and be sure to give @itv2 a follow while you’re at it.

Tune in to ITV2 at 9pm tonight to catch Masquerade, or catch it again at 10pm on ITV2+1. Still need to catch up on last week’s episode? You can watch it on ITV Player, or download it in HQ from iTunes UK.

Such a simple, innocent-looking title. Don’t be fooled, though, because Katherine’s out to prove she’s ahead of everyone in this little game of hers, and the rules have been thrown out of the window. Brace yourselves for some shocks, fair fans, because Plan B is full of them.

Tonight in Kill Or Be Killed Mason Lockwood stirs the pot in his feud with the Salvatores, bringing Sheriff Forbes into the crossfire during another Mystic Falls community event, while Jeremy and Tyler’s friendship starts to develop as they manage a conversation without coming to fisticuffs.

Ms Katherine Pierce takes Stefan on a trip down Memory Lane in tonight’s episode. While they’re busy reminiscing, Damon is left unsupervised to pursue his current obsession of finding out just what makes the Lockwood family tick with a few hilarious (and not so hilarious) consequences.

Tonight ITV2 have gone back to where all of this started and provided us with a couple of sets of Vampire Diaries books to give away. Four books in each pack (that’s all of the books so far – The Awakening through to Shadow Souls) with the TV series tie-in covers. Tonight’s episode is filled with road trips, romance, heartbreak, and teenagers roaming around spooky woods at night (they never learn, do they?). Things are going to get very… hairy.

Less hairy is our UK giveaway tonight. ITV2 haven’t quite run out of flasks and DVDs yet, so we have two more sets to give away. Same deal as the past two weeks – we’ll be awarding one prize pack to the person with the tweet about the episode we like the most (remember your #tvduk hashtag!) and another prize pack after Bad Moon Rising airs to the winner of a trivia question based on the episode. You must be 15 or over, and be a resident of the United Kingdom. You can follow us on Twitter on @tvdnews, and be sure to give @itv2 a follow while you’re at it.

IMG DESCAfter the success of the giveaway to celebrate The Return on our screens last week, ITV2 did some rummaging around and produced another two sets of Vampire Diaries DVDs and flasks for us to give away to two more lucky UK fans. We’ll be doing the same as last week, and awarding one prize pack to the person with the tweet about the episode we like the most (remember your #tvduk hashtag!) and another prize pack after Brave New World airs to the winner of a trivia question based on the episode. Again, you must be 15 or over, and be a resident of the United Kingdom. We had the Vampire Diaries trending spectacularly on Twitter last week, so let’s see if we can keep that up! You can follow us on Twitter on @tvdnews, and be sure to give @itv2 a follow while you’re at it.

Tune in to ITV2 at 9pm tonight to catch Brave New World, or catch it again at 10pm on ITV2+1. Still need to catch up on last week’s episode? And don’t forget that Vee will be joining the VRO on their Twilight Diaries show at 9pm ET tonight to talk about A Visitor’s Guide to Mystic Falls. Be sure to tune in!

Well, UK fans, it’s finally here. At 9pm (only few hours left!) on ITV2 we’ll all be glued to our TV screens to watch The Return, the explosive season 2 premiere of the Vampire Diaries. If you couldn’t wait and had to download the episodes from iTunes after they aired in the USA, that’s cool. But we hope you’ll be joining us and watching it on ITV2, too. Before that, you’ll need to tune in to ITV2 at 7:45pm to watch an interview with Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder. Just to get you in the mood for the show later on. Though it might make that last hour more agonising. ;)

To celebrate the show coming back, we’re going to be doing something special on Twitter. We’ve teamed up with ITV2 to give away some goodies to a couple of lucky fans – season 1 of the Vampire Diaries on DVD, and a promotional coffee flask (with coffee!) with the Vampire Diaries logo emblazoned on it. Very sexy, and not available in the shops. To enter these Twitter giveaways, you need to be a UK resident, and aged 15 or over (as the DVD set has a 15 certificate).

ITV 2 prizes for the Vampire Diaries season 2 premiereThe first DVD and flask combo will go to the person who tweets the sentence that impresses us most as the show airs. We’ll be watching the #TVDUK hashtag closely to see which tweet stands out – be it because it’s insightful or just makes us laugh. So if you want a chance to win, tweet your reactions, and be sure to use the #TVDUK hashtag so we see it.

The second DVD and flask combo will go to the person who tweets us the correct answer to a trivia question based on The Return that we’ll be posting to @tvdnews shortly after the episode airs. We’re known for being evil with trivia questions, so stay on your toes and watch the episode carefully. You never know what minor detail might be important.

And while you’re doing the Twitter thing, why not give @ITV2 a follow? They’ll be tweeting all about the show tonight, and you can get news about the show in the UK hot off the press from them.

UK Vampire Diaries fans should also be keeping an eye on ITV2′s official Vampire Diaries Facebook, especially if you don’t want to miss out on spending the night with a vampire. ITV are giving you the chance to win a night in London’s Soho Hotel and tickets to an advance screening of the season finale (date to be finalised, given they’re still filming the first half of the season right now). All you have to do is turn yourself into a vampire with their nifty application, and you’ll be entered into the contest. The closing date is midday, November 1st, 2010.

And to keep you going until 9pm tonight, why not watch the ITV2 trailer on repeat a few times? ;)

Viewers who were watching the Vampire Diaries tonight on ITV2 will have seen that there’s a rather nifty competition for UK fans to enter. The lucky winner (plus a friend) will have flights paid to and from Atlanta, spend three nights at a top hotel and be given £1,000 for spending money. They’ll also visit the Mystic Falls set where the show’s makeup artists will be making the winner up to look like they’ve been attacked by a vampire.

You can enter the competition over on the ITV2 website. The closing date is August 6th, 2010, and entrants must be over 18 and have a valid passport. Be sure to read the full terms and conditions before you enter.

For those of you who missed the question, here it is:

What is the name of the town restaurant where the vampires hang out?
A) The Mystic Diner
B) The Mystic Pub
C) The Mystic Grill

Good luck!

The CW have released a short series promo to let us know that the Vampire Diaries has “TV’s most smoldering cast”. We think they may be on to something there. ;)

ITV2 also have a promo up for episodes 12 to 14 in the UK, in which the cast is indeed looking smoldering (thanks, Denise!):

And finally, Denis has been in touch to let us know that The Return: Nightfall is set for publication in Bulgaria at some point in May. You can see the cover (which is a combination of the Bulgarian covers for The Struggle and The Fury) below.

While they were in the UK promoting the Vampire Diaries back in December, Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley spoke to ITV2, and there’s another video for you guys to enjoy here. The trio talk about… actually, you know what? I’m still too busy laughing to summarise. Just watch the video. :D

Thanks to @itsgigi21 for the link!
