SpoilerTV have posted some stills from episode nine, “History Repeating”. Lots of Stefan and Damon (the darts scoreboard amuses us for some reason), along with some of Alaric, Jenna and Jeremy. UPDATE: Added the stills to our gallery.

Broadcasting & Cable has posted an article about Kevin Williamson, about liking scary movies, his career (including Scream and Dawson’s Creek) and working on the Vampire Diaries with the CW. There’s some nice praise for Kevin from Peter Roth (president of the WB) and Dawn Ostroff (president of the CW), along with quite a few quotes from the man himself.

According to Williamson, Vampire Diaries marks the first project since Dawson’s where he has felt that sort of magic. “This show is kind of blessed,” he says.

While we don’t yet have a cover for the TV series tie-in of The Fury, we do have a date. HarperTeen have it listed with an expected publication date of April 27, 2010, and you can pre-order it there or on Amazon.com. Still nothing listed for Dark Reunion, but we’ll keep an eye out.

On a related note, the WB have a new Vampire Diaries t-shirt up for sale for $19.95.

Finally, we’ve seen a lot of Halloween pumpkin carving going on using images from both True Blood and Twilight. It got us wondering if any of you talented people out there were planning on carving some pumpkins (or making other Halloween decorations, for that matter) with a Vampire Diaries theme? If you are, we’d love it if you’d send us pics of your projects, and if we get enough to make it worthwhile we’d like to feature them in a blog post on Halloween. Get gutting those pumpkins, people. ;)

KryptonSite have a whole bunch of stills from “Haunted”, the Halloween episode of the Vampire Diaries, and the holiday season is looking pretty funky over in Mystic Falls (seriously, I’m hallucinating just looking at these stills). UPDATE: Larger versions now available in our gallery in all their psychedelic glory. ;)

Katerina Graham was interviewed recently by Starry Constellation Magazine. She talks about her background research for Bonnie, working with the rest of the cast, her fans and supporters, and a host of other things.

Q. Bonnie is a direct descendant from one of the accused Salem witches, did you do any research into that background?

A. Yeah, I studied a lot about the Salem Witch Trial and I watched The Crucible. I studied as much as I possibly could and I have been reading all of The Vampire Diaries books to see what her reaction is to a lot of these things. I kind of want to go to Salem to do some more studying and research but for now I am doing as much as I can. There is so much work you can do for the background of a character like that, so you definitely want to do as much as you possibly can.

This Friday’s issue of TV Guide Magazine has a spread of Vampire Diaries behind-the-scenes photos courtesy of Kayla Ewell, who also gives some spoilery insight into what the future holds for Vicki and Jeremy, reveals that the vampires of the show don’t yet have the hang of the whole biting thing, and gives up Michael Trevino and Zach Roerig‘s dirty little Twitter secret (with photographic evidence! – we’re LOL-ing over here). Click on the images below to see bigger, readable scans in the gallery (a little spoilery!) – and big, big thanks to Denise for the scans.

The CW Connect has a video interview with Nina where she answers fan questions about the show, including whether Elena suspects Stefan is a vampire, the vibe on the set, how much she knows about what future episodes hold, and how the show is different from Twilight and True Blood. Lots of good stuff – you can view it at CWtv.com or on the official Vampire Diaries Facebook (the second link should work for you, non-U.S.A. peoples).

E! News visited the set of The Vampire Diaries last week during filming of the Halloween episode (Haunted – we’ve already had glimpses of Jeremy’s and Elena’s, and Matt’s costumes via Nina’s Twitter), and the segment features some soundbites from Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, and Ian Somerhalder.

For those of you interested in the ratings breakdown for Family Ties, TV BY the Numbers has it all laid out here and also has the CW’s press release:

VAMPIRE DIARIES continued to cast a spell on viewers in a number of key ratings measurements, with flat week to week performances in adults 18-34 (1.8/6) and women 18-49 (2.3/3). TVD also mesmerized female teens with a 2.5/10, winning a first place finish in the influential demo. Additionally, TVD was seen by 3.52M total viewers.

The Vampire Diaries TV Series: Steven R. McQueenFearNet talked to Steven R. McQueen on the set of Piranha 3-D earlier this summer and of course managed to slip in a few questions about The Vampire Diaries. He talks about his role as Jeremy Gilbert, how the show will differ from vampire shows before it, and (our favorite) the mythology of the Vampire Diaries TV universe.

My character, he’s not a vampire, but he’s got all the attributes: he’s pale, he looks like he hasn’t slept in a while. So he becomes the guilty-seeming figure when he’s mad. But a lot of vampires are naturally beautiful and look very together and are trying to get away with everything. I’m the rebel without a cause. [Laughs.]

Stefan and DamonZap2it has posted up some brand new Vampire Diaries promo pics of the cast from the Greystone Mansion shoot by photographer Andrew Eccles. There are eight photos in total (so far) of Paul Wesley (Stefan), Ian Somerhalder (Damon), Nina Dobrev (Elena), Katerina Graham (Bonnie), Candice Accola (Caroline) and Steven R. McQueen (Jeremy). It would be nice to see these in higher quality, so hopefully we’ll be able to get our hands on some of those soon. Now the burning question is: where are Matt, Tyler and Vicki?

In production news, Marcos Siega twittered earlier that episode 103 will be directed by Guy Ferland, known for work on The Shield, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Eleventh Hour. Good to see another choice of director whose work certainly isn’t your average teenage fare.

Finally, a billboard advert for the Vampire Diaries has been spotted in LA. Fingers crossed it doesn’t cause too many accidents or the CW could be neck-deep in personal injury claims. ;) Thanks to Michael Trevino and the folks over at MediaBlvd for directing us to this.
